Level: Alleyway

This idea is based of the classic game Alleyway.

As you can see from the image, on the left hand side is a 'cannon' that when you pull the lever a ball fires in to the middle of the stage. The sackboy then gets inside the housing a pushes either the left or right button, depending on which way he wants to go. The top of the housing jolts up slightly to hit the ball at the bricks each time a ball lands on it (or if this is not possible, then there will be a separate button for that)

Each brick disappears once it has been hit. The bricks are actually 'tubs' and some might contain bubbles or collectables. You only get a certain amount of balls to fire at them.

Another option would be to have infinate (well as many as possible) balls, and you have to destroy all the bricks before it lets you go to the next area, rather then having only a few balls and trying to collect as many bubbles that fall as possible.

At the moment it really does require at least two sackboys to opperate properly. But i want to make it fun for one player as well. so, it may need redesigning.

EDIT: Isn't the game called 'Brick'? I like the idea BTW, especially when you are rewarded for hitting certain bricks. :)

How will the game restart once you hit all the bricks? Will they appear out of thin air? That is possible. :)

Ah yes, you may well be right. I always get confused what the original was called. I had a look through my old gameboy games, and i came accross Alleyway. Whether thats the original or not i have no idea.

As far as the game restarting once your done. Im not sure. I mean it was going to be like a mini-game at the start of a level, and as i said above, to destory them all to advance onto the next level. It all depends how advance you can make the 'triggers'. So say, once all the blocks had been destroyed another batch (perhaps in a differnet layout) could be 'lowered' into the area.

Yeah I was watching one of the new levels and they do have blocks dropping down so yeah that seems like it would be possible, but you need to have reason they are. Like some type of tunnel from above but yeah cool idea.

Aha! I think i know what the original was called, Breakout! I just saw it in the lbp central Arcade. Im sure thats what it was called. (I guess i could just look it up on google, but that would be too easy).

I believe the Original was Arkanoid. Lemme check on the screwattack video.

Breakout was the original. Arkanoid was a ripoff version.
