Following untold devastation on a global scale, Sackboy must escape the crumbling and decaying ruins of New York City to safety...

Level contains a small handful of puzzles, and a number of platforming sections, all assembled from the decaying rubble and twisted metal found in the city. Level also contains numerous large-scale physics demonstrations such as collapsing buildings.

Explore the ruins as you wish, and take in the sights and sounds ;). A large portion of this level budget was spent on designing an artistic post-apocalyptic environment, complete with collapsing architecture, ruined structures, and deteriorating billboards. This level is part-artwork piece, part platforming/action/puzzle-solving. This project originally started from my asphyxiation of urban destruction, nuclear devastation, and neon signs :D

Recommended for 1-2 players, anything higher can generate moderate lag, due to graphical fidelity, and physics calculations.

I was wondering whether you had any levels, but I guess you do!

I have to say, that was a great level, that really felt like an earlier Fallout, and definitely looked like a form of New York. I loved the destruction, and how everything crumbled around you. The detail that went into the destruction was great, and was all realistic. One of my favourite parts was the beginning, and how the I Heart New York collapsed, and all this debris fell around it, a brilliant intro! The difficulty was good, and it had several different things to do, which is always great. The auto shop puzzles was fun, and made you think.

Some things you might want to fix/change: The flaming logs that roll down the hill were glowing red, they should of glowed orange. This isn't anything big, but it would look better and more realistic. :P Also, when you get to the bridge, and it collapses, if you are playing for the first time you WILL die, and was quite sudden. Maybe make a barrier for the player to land on like the other side, so he doesn't have to die.

Overall it was a great level and I am looking forward to the next level!

5 stars and a heart!

For F4F, could you do my 'Bouncing Balls - Survival Challenge'? Thanks!

P.S. I added you on PSN, but you haven't accepted it yet D:

Actually, I'm considering removing the glow from the logs. You would NOT believe the lag that section creates online because of the lighting. Moreso than any other scene...

Regarding the bridge bit, there is a safeguard. It's the small piece of metal protruding from the highway. Usually, the autocorrect will place you on it. Sometimes, it won't. That part was intentionally designed to be a sudden, and shocking motion.

The level actually looks a lot better in HD than these screenshots. I hate how screencaps don't capture color correction or lighting :'[

Also, I loaned my PS3 to my cousin temporarily, which is why I haven't responded yet. Sorry :'(

I'll add you the moment I get it back, I look forward to your levels :3

My Description-
This level really had a very gloomy atmosphere to me.

Pros of the level-

Im really digging the Visuals on this level, you chose most of your materials appropriately.

The Music is right on, and i like the way it builds itself. (great execution and timing on particular events)

The Platforming is solid, i like how you made the environment really seemed falling apart, i made me feel the sense of danger and very cautious.

Cons of the level-

A few minor ones like a visible proximity switch in the falling torn down bridge near the end.

I really dont think its a good idea to show the search light object from the MGS pack unless, you can use it as a sort of a usable tool that would make it fit. (ex. flash light, a spot light in a stage) but as for your level, it seemed out of place.

Your drop lights that are already grabable doesnt need a grabable material wrapped around them IMO.

Edit:

I felt the the wood crate material that you used for the Autobody Shop section didnt quite fit, everything else is appropriate.

Overall Rating-

All in all its a 4 star level, but i gave you 5 to help it boost your 3 star rating.. (some people cant see a great level when they play one)

Beautiful tag and a heart from me. :)

Id like a Feedack for my "The Count Of St Claire: Prologue" level if you would.

my F4F thread is in my sig.

I really enjoyed this level! I saw the photo inspiration you posted before playing it and I think it translated really well.

I like the burned out rusty and moonlit blue look you have going on. It's beautiful and spooky at the same time. The thing I really liked was that you let gravity do what it does. I felt like nothing I stood on was solid which is a great feeling in a post apocalyptic level! Great platforming and challenge.

I gave it 5 stars & hearted it. Thanks for sharing it!

Pretty good, I gave it 5 stars. The only problem I encountered was that I couldn't figure out what to do on the part with the cars. I didn't know what to do there so I continued and found some grabbable material. Still 5 stars though because I was probably missing something obvious.

Just got done playing this.... wow. This level was really something. The city detail you managed to pack in there is pretty amazing.

One thing I really have to give you kudos on - That collapsing bridge where you had to climb each section - that was a fantastic idea, and I loved how sackboy handled the jumps.

This was an EASY 5 star and hearted. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

One of them wouldn't move though so I think it just randomly glitched. Maybe? Or was one of them meant to stop?

Very nice style this. Just a couple of minor tweaks i think would help it - in the first house there are a couple of very close camera angles, particularly the one next to the grab sponge. I'd back out on the really close ones a little, they make it kind of hard to see where to go. Also on top of the house, by the Exit 14 and Stop sign, there's a bit where you walk from a platform to a car (underneath the burning cog) that looks like its on the same plane but isn't. Twice i fell down behind the car because you don't realise you have to make the transition to a different plane. A little bit of invisible dark matter here would do the trick, just to force you on to the car. The only other thing is the bits of sponge around the grablights, might look better without those.

Nice atmosphere all round tho , the collapsing bridge is ace.

They have a set maxima point, and a defined minima

They should align to form a straight jump across. The mechanism is designed perfectly, so any problems it creates are random

SIDE NOTE: I didn't know the final bridge scene would be this well received...

It wasn't originally going to be included in this level, there was originally supposed to be a platforming section suspended from broken neon signs, and a downed crane. As the player moved about the platforms, they'd shift very slightly, but just enough to make it noticeable...

Ooops, spoilers for part 2 :3

Ok, it was the first car, it wouldn't move at all- up or down. I'll try the level again later since it's really fun anyway. :p

I've designed numerous mechanisms like that before...

LittleBigPlanet has this very (FREAKING ANNOYING) bug that either causes the object attached to the piston to literally float away, through solid matter, or force a total lock up

Check with the others that played this level, that part works... LBP just bugs it up occasionally.

They just broke for me then- I'll go and play it again now.

EDIT: Yay! The first car moved this time. That falling bridge at the end was great aswell, how it kept falling more and more.

Bump for being spotlighted :D

More to come by July, any recommendations?

I'm also taking "shout-outs", part 2 includes a great amount of urban grafitti, so if anyone wants me to put their name somewhere, just give me the word...

If you go to your first post in this thread and "go advanced" you can change the name of the thread to inlcude SPOTLIGHTED. A lot of creators do that after their level makes the spotlight. :)

I don't have any other suggestions for other levels but I'm sure whatever you do will be excellent!

I really enjoyed both the visuals and gameplay this level provided. I loved how the world seemed to be crumbling all around me as I navigated through it. The destruction was beautifully done and there were some clever puzzle elements as well. My favorite part would probably be the collapsing bridge, it was very, very cool!

The only thing I disliked was that my Sackboy would often get caught on debris, but it wasn't too bad and the rest of the level over shadows that small frustration. Overall, a very fun and visually appealing level!

Okay! I really adored this level!:) The visuals were lovely and I could really get the "destroyed" vibe. The large scale crumbling of the bridges and buildings though is what really go to me! I was quite amazed by those! I really hope to play the next in the series! It may come off as my favorite fallout series out there.
4 Stars/ Moody/ Hearted!

Oh and can you do some F4F please? I'd like you to look at my series as well. Both levels so far are in my signature below. I'll eagerly await your feedback! Thanks i appreciate it!

Have to say my favorite part was the bridge at the end. Pretty neat. Least favorite was the house at the beginning - kind of hard to figure out how to get where I'm going, though definitely doable. That was caused by the ton of clutter that's there - but hey, it's a city in ruins, it should be a little difficult to navigate :P

All-in-all, quite a solid experience. Looking forward to your next level which will be about that creepy dude in your signature. xD
Or whatever.

I played this level some days ago, and i found it very cool. I bought Fallout 3 2 weeks ago, so i searched some levels on LBP and LBPC. This level is very wellmade, the grapihc was awesome, i had the same feelings of Fallout, NY is really destroyed! Some funny visuals, like the constructions that broke "live" xD Good use of the lights, the materials and of the stickers. But if you want a tip, replace some cars, cause if you use the 3 ways switch, they still works :)I enjoyed some gameplay parts, and loved the atmosphere.
5/5 stars and hearted! nice works, i hope in a sequel :P
If you want, try my level Sack Quest for the F4F, the link is in the sign ;)

Finally I found this level that I searched for nearly a week.
I had seen hit on youtube while searching between cog's vids and stumbled in this believing it was one of cog's vid that I could find up whenever I wanted...but it was not one of cog's vid, so I lost the level...
