Recently, games have had giant bosses with no challenge. It seems video games have become too mainstream to be too challenging. I remember when I was 8 fighting bosses that would absolutely rip me apart and they could be even shorter than my character was. And I was playing on beginner.. Now, you have games like RE5, where you're battling colossal sea monsters whose fingers are bigger than yours but are too stupid to remember that they could kill you pretty much by just brushing up against you. They swim beside you with their squishy blinding yellow bubbles completely vulnerable and do nothing as you shoot them with your rocket launchers and chain guns. As I've said before, the only difficult bosses I've fought this gen have been in LBP. The most difficult I've battled this far is easily Danmaku Rave. (I don't know what the name means either. Probably some anime thing.)

Danmaku Rave's two rooms look nice, which is probably important since they're the only two things you see. They fit the boss's look nicely. I didn't get to see the room with the scoreboard. I sure hope it looks nice.

Danmaku Rave is pretty much four killing machines in one. You have to defeat one part of it after another. Each section shoots its own lazer patterns, each one is harder than its predecessor. I guess it all leads up to a spectacularly beautiful rainbow of death, but I couldn't defeat the third section.

When you read the description and you see that the difficulty is "Very Hard", Bridget isn't lying. I restarted the level somewhere around 30 times before giving up. Somewhere between the 5th and 10th restart I thought "what is this that I'm feeling?". Then I remembered the feeling of the incredibly frustrating bosses of past generations. I liked it. I thought that sometimes, the incredibly close platforms to get to the brains would get in my way, but now I'm just whining. I haven't defeated Danmaku Rave, but I'm looking forward to it.

Danmaku Rave isn't a level for everyone. It's for people looking for a nice challenge. It's not for anyone wanting to just relax and have a good time. This boss is frustrating as hell, but if you need a challenge to remind you what a hard boss used to be, then Danmaku Rave absolutely won't disappoint.

:star::star::star::star::star: and hearted.

wow, thanks for doing this review :)

I'd have noticed this was up sooner, had I not been stuck with insane computers for some time now.

As for the name, "Danmaku" basically means "curtain fire"; the thing is inspired by all the bullet-hell shmups that I play alot of. Actually, all of the bosses I've made so far end up being like that.

And no, the scoreboard room isnt pretty. I was running outta space, and getting sick of the blasted thing, so I just plopped it on the floor and was done with it, haha.....
