Okay, so I need some help on this one. Has anyone seen any SPECIFIC information regarding copyright protection? I know you won't be allowed to get mario sprites on your PSeye and paste them in and get away with it, but what about doing an homage to a particular show or movie?

So: The LOST Levels

You play as "Sack Shephrd"

I'm still working on concepts here and want the full game before I get too many ideas, but I'm thinking the first level can be a trek through the LOST jungles, tracing past plane wreckage, if possible, avoiding the smoke monster, a showdown with a polar bear boss at the end. End of the level you find the hatch.

Second Level: Inside the hatch. You have to solve puzzles to get free again after being locked in the hatch by one of the LOSTaways, then possibly, find the key, turn it, get out before the place blows up.

Last level ideas on the way later.

You had me at Sack Shepherd. That is the greatest Sackboy name i've ever seen LOL. The only thing is I would expand more on that first level. You can prob make 2 or 3 levels just for the first season alone. Great Idea though you should make an entire saga of levels all linked to together to encompass the entire show.

Even the devs made a mario themed level..

as long as you don't call it anything that's copyrighted you should be fine..

or any character that is copyrighted.. so that looks fine.. might want to avoid THE LOST part tho.. because that's too obvious. =P

Its a 2D game you can't do the bit where the camera annoyingly circles the character realy fast.

My suggestion would be to add a twist so it is not really the level, like a cool color scheme and improve on the level but also a feeling of the level would be cool. Like I was thinking of making the twisted Mario 1-1 level, but I think this is a cool idea.

You could have a wrecked plane at the beggining of the level and a cleverly placed wheelchair discarded off to the side...for the sake of detail...maybe even subtle placement of the famous numbers in the level...and the French Woman being your guide...

Soooo awesome...brain exploding...you could even... with some serious creativity ...have flashbacks...

Make it...so I can play it!!

The LOST levels was actually a play on the fact that there once was a game, Super Mario Bros the lost levels. May have to call it "The MISPLACED levels" and do it LOST themed if there is a copyright problem. If possible, first level starts out on the beach amongst the plane wreckage and into the jungle, past the rest of the plane, the cockpit, defeat a polar bear, then into the hatch.

And yes, the numbers will definately be making an appearance, and I'm going to attempt the smoke monster, but that will depend on how well I can make it to whether it makes the cut.

I wonder how this will work out in the game, well, we'll have to see:)

I cant wait to try it out though!

May be hard to make it fun to play.

I mean, all these ideas based off films and tv shows don't seem to be like platforming levels, but more like: "look around levels" for fans of the show or something.

However, I do love LOST.

As long as you don't use any images taken directly using the PSEye, should be no copyright issue.

I actually also had an Lost level idea. It was more a season 1 level:

Start on a beach, watch the engine explode, the wing comes crashing down. Then you go on Locke's wheelchair for a race. Ditto smokey chase (some platforming), then you reach the front section (diagonal section) and then you reach the top, smokey attachs and the whole section drops to the ground (explosion that destroys whatever supports the plane). Then discover the hatch. To finish the level, somehow you have to type in the numbers. I was thinking stealing from Indy 3 where you have one the correctly numbered sections, while the others explode on touch. Though would be unfair to non-Lost fans.

Do need to think of how to fit in the polar bear.

Brilliant idea! I love LOST! If you can make it fun it would be awesome, and mosdl's wheelchair race was a funny little idea, you should make something similar! :P
And by the way, good idea mosdl :P

Great idea. I love the LOST series. I look forward to see the final product.
