I write for a site called NoMoreGameBlogs.com (http://www.nomoregameblogs.com), and I recently wrote an article (http://www.nomoregameblogs.com/main/2009/8/7/the-multiplayer-experience.html) about multiplayer and co-operative experiences in gaming. I thought LittleBigPlanet was a shining example of how fun LBP can be. The only bad thing I'd have to say about it is playing co-operatively on the last couple levels (mainly the Bunker) is very frustrating. You can check out the article (http://www.nomoregameblogs.com/main/2009/8/7/the-multiplayer-experience.html) if you'd like, but I'm curious to hear other fans opinions on the multiplayer in LBP.

Multiplayer in LBP is a lot of fun, but sometimes also very laggy, which in my opinion ruins most of the expierience. I'd also wish they included the multiplayer editor right from the start, or possibly make the beta avaible to everyone.

Generally it's a lot of fun though, just messing around with eachother without even playing the level properly can also be a lot of fun :D

Offline Multiplayer! Great! I love offline so much, more games should have it! Online is just as great, but sometimes the lag kills the mood :-P

I rarely experience lag, but you'd think that with FOUR players the lag would rarely get so bad. Why is it so awful so often? I hope the plan to improve it in the future, especially since recent updates have actually made it worse :(

Multiplayer is great if everyone's on the same console, but online... ah. It's not so great.

It lags when the host is far away from where your connecting.
Lag annoys me...

Anyways, Multiplayer is fun, it's the only games I would buy, single player games are fun, but I don't like games that are by yourself all the time, multiplayer can be anytime you want like GTA 4 or Fat Princess (you can trigger Multiplayer by the menu).

Depends on everyones connection. I have had flawless 4 player experiences as well as a few occasions that it was pretty traumatic getting through a level.

To answer the OP's question though. It really depends on the level. There are really fun 2x and 4x player levels out there as well as, others that really require one or possibly two players with some cooperation.

multiplayer on lbp is sweet. but if u just go into a community lvl and play online, u will most likely join a group of 10 year-olds... and it really sucks, bcuz little kids are soooooo stupid. so if ur gonna play multiplayer, then get ur friends with u and play the lvl offline, otherwise some idiots will join u and mess everything up.

I'm loving multiplayer, there's only 1 problem, LAG :p

Multiplayer.... hmmm well personally, offline, it is amazinggggg, so much fun. but online... UGHHHH LAG IS A KILLER. I would love more friends on LBP, but to get friends you have to meet them. to meet them you have to go online. im too afraid too go online because its SOOOO laggy and i cant enjoy the level. This makes ***ual harrasment panda saddd. :(. (you'll get that if you watch South Park)

Besides lag, my huge issue with the multi-player in this game is the camera. It can totally ruin the fun of many levels. I don't want to go into in long explanation, but I'm pretty sure we have all wanted to shoot ourselves when the camera followed the person falling off a ledge instead of the person continuing the level.

Solution: independent cameras.

I can never seem to join any party. I'm always a party leader:/

Multiplayer in LBP is total rubbish the majority of the time simply because of the LAG and hopeless server connection. It completely ruins what should be a great experience.

Also I agree with Walter-Kovacs that one of the biggest problems is the in-game camera that counts players out if they get a short distance apart. It's particularly bad in the 'bunker' level you mention where you go down the shaft at the start. Whenever you go down the stupid camera stays on the players at the top making it impossible to see where to go. Every time I've attempted that in multiplayer we have to wait till there's only 1 player left alive with 1 life remaining and they have to do it solo. Otherwise it's just impossible.

That's especially annoying because Media Molecule advertised the game at launch as having a camera that would show every player on screen regardless of how far apart they were !! What happened to that ?

I knew MrV was disappointed, I entered the thread just to see how much angry he would have been this time :p

One time I played the Collector's Lair with 3 other players...the lag was so bad that the contraptions bent, what was a line became curve.

That was the oddest thing I've seen in 25 years of gaming.

Sorry got the level wrong in my last post, I meant the Collectors Lair, not The Bunker.

Yup, the camera can be a killer.

Sometimes, just the fact that one person is a tiny bit behind can mess up the angle making certain jumps, etc. virtually impossible.

I'm not saying that individual cameras are completely the way to go (maybe as an option offline) but I think that an improvement needs to be made.

My opinion of the LBP online gaming is:
Lag a little bit too much,
Camera don't help in hard level,
People should think of multiplayer gaming when they are creating or just tell «1P recommended» so now we are alert.

I don't mind multiplayer in LBP, but I prefer to play levels by myself because I can go at my own pace and really take in all aspects of the level.

I have had extremely mixed feelings and experiences with LBP's multiplayer. When I was going for my 100% completion with help from mistervista I experienced very little lag and even then it was only for a few minutes or so. However, when I play with a friend of mine the lag is unbelievable. This is my only problem with the game and if the multiplayer wasn't so laggy I would spend a lot more time with the game instead of waiting for the GOTY edition before I get back into it.

i also hate how when u join somebody, you see the level get player from the start in this awful lag...and finally when u join the host ends the game cuz its so laggy from u joining....

The lag doesn't bother me too much, some of my friends have really bad connections though and whenever I join them it lags.

But yeah, other than that, LBP online is awesome. Especially the level sharing part which is all good apart from the H4Hers (heart for hearters) that spoil things by asking for 'hearts' on their levels so they can get the trophies.

I don't mind the multiplayer aspects of LBP, and I have a lot of fun playing with my friends, but I only really like multiplayer on LBP offline as it doesn't feel as fun to me on multiplayer when you're not sitting near who you're playing with when on multiplayer and overall, I just prefer to play a level on my own.

LBP has some pretty awful netcode, I blame Mm, not Sony.

The WORST lag I've ever seen has got to be Gears of War 2 for the 360, that game is so horrendous, it's not even funny

glitches are so common, they're accepted in "normal" play .____.

I pay fifty bucks a year for it too x__x

I know Mm is capable of fixing the MP in LBP2, they just need to ask Guerilla for help

the other annoying thing is when you join someone after failing to connect, they finish the level and leave you stranded... the worst glitch i experienced was i was left by a group of people... then i was invited and kicked, so the rocket got jammed on a 6 for ages... i couldn't pop i was on my last life and i couldn't return to my pod because it had that annoying Strike through it... so i turned my console off and ended up corrupting most of my data

:( My god. That sucks. You're scaring me now
I don't get it at all. Lag is a serious problem. I hear people call it little lag planet. It's managed to scare many great creators to unlaggy games.

multi player is great and all but it takes ages just to load and play one level i mean the lag kills me i had to restart my ps3 once D:

Well, it's not only the lag that destroys the fun, usually it's that one idiot who just can't hold himself and must cover your pod with decorations, every single time, even if you have spent like 1 hour decorating your pod, woohoo donkey tails and seaweed!

I really do prefer single player, I can go wherever I like, I don't have to wait for other who fail at jumping, and most importantly, I can play a level just as long as I want without anyone gething bothered why I'm not following, just because the other's maybe haven't noticed a secret switch or something. Also, I get all the bubbles. :p

Personally I love the multiplayer gameplay on LBP. That was the reason my wife and I decided to buy the game (and a ps3 to play it on).
