View Full Version : LBPC Sticker (Done and published)

Since we can't make custom stickers (yet anyway) I figured it might be a good idea to recreate the LBPC sticker using materials instead. It could be given away in a level for people to take it and place into their own levels.

Does anyone have a clean, high res image of the LBPC logo? :)

Edit: The logo has been published.

You mean the one in ConfusedCartman's vault? That's the one everyone uses (whenever people have hidden sticker switches where you need the LBPC logo, you use that one)

It should work... unless you mean a higher quality one?

Gilgamesh

Well, I'll try to export the sticker from the PS3, but it's probably going to turn out too small and low res.

An actual, large image of the logo would be preferable to the sticker.

Oh wait, do you mean physical, as in an object?

takelow made a physical one out of materials for LBPC The Game a few months back, and gave it away (along with the alphabet) in a level... contact him if that's what you mean (an actual object).

If not, then I guess I can't help.

Edit: Is this what you mean? http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13833

Essentially... but that's for the PS3 version (this is for the PSP).

I've managed to hunt down the image I wanted though :

I was thinking this morning that you could also just do "lbpcentral" if the long version was too involved. You've already gone far enough past that though that you might as well keep doing what you're doing.

Thanks for taking this on btw. :)

I got one in the works but i made it similiar to how its done on the Logic Pack (LBPCentral)

http://www.lbpcentral.com/images/logic_pack/logic%20pack%20%28small%29.png

Right now i'm just finishing the design of the letters and finding the right colors. I'll add the .com part and the black outline later on. I should have it published within the next 30 minutes.

Ugh these colors are going to be a problem cause of the PSP brightness, I completly messed up on the colors cause my brightness was set on low.

EDIT: Alright its up, (name is called LBPC logo BETA) I got it as close as I can, once I get back, I'll work on the .com and the black outline. So what do you think of it so far?

You also forgot the second T in LITTLE. :p

I only need one T, the second one will be copied once I have all of the letters I need (since captured objects can't be resized).

In essence, I only need the letters G PANT CR now. It's hard enough making one letter, I'm not going to start duplicating letters that I can have copied instead. :)

JKthree
11-24-2009, 10:31 PM
Oh yes of course I will.

Well I've decided to forget about the .com so it won't get too long and put the black background on a different thin layer. It would just be too complex, and it would eat up the memory that they'll probably really need. Whats weird is it won't capture it all in one. So I had to split it to 2 prize bubbles. Well I think I got it as close as I can without making it too complex. I guess I'll consider it the Final version. Well its not small enough to place at small areas or at the scoreboard, but you can have this after the beginning or before the end.

Taffey
11-24-2009, 10:37 PM
Ok, cool. :)

Yes, I would think that a separate thin later for the black background would be the best way to go. Hassling with corner editing around every letter is ridiculous, and it probably wouldn't look as clean either.

I also noticed that it's pretty large... Are you able to shrink it down and perhaps offer it in a couple different sizes? The initial size is too big to view on screen all at once.

JKthree
11-24-2009, 10:45 PM
I could give it a go. Hang on.

Well I got it as small as I could. Strange how some letters can't get as small as the others, but whats odd its the simple letters that can't, I could get B smaller than L..

Oh well I made 2 sizes now

Gilgamesh

Well, I am not a happy camper right now.

The good news : I managed to make the most terrific recreation of the LBPC logo, perfect to a t.

The bad news : Because I used captured objects to make it (in order to avoid making the "t" and "a" several times over and having them look slightly different each time), I can't capture the whole logo as a new object (bull! :grr:).

So yeah. I can either give out all of the letters individually (they are sized as small as I could get them, but proportional, so you would just need to stick them in the correct order) or make the level copyable and have people use it as a "template" to get the sticker in there (if it's actually possible to modify copyable levels, big if).

What should I do? :(

JKthree
11-25-2009, 01:32 AM
I don't think its got to do with copying.

It seems you can't capture too many things at once, Try doing it in sections, Like one per word

While that gave me the slightest bit of hope, it unfortunately doesn't work, even if I only try to capture one or two letters.

Thanks anyway. :(

Oh well I made 2 sizes nowI played this again and grabbed the logos. They look great. I especially like the smaller one - it fits very well in front of or just above the scoreboard.

One suggestion I have is to ditch the stickers altogether and just material change each letter into something that most closely matches the logo color it's supposed to be. This would give it the full wrap-around of color we're used to in PS3 LBP. My ability to color match anything is horrible, but here's what I think might work:

"L" = red cardboard, red fiber paper or red stained plywood
"B" = basic polystyrene, crumpled/creased paper, white card, or snow blocks
"P" = green brushed steel, lime green lacquer, or green hessian
"Central" = pink floaty or pink paper
background = black fiber paper, dark bark, or dark polystyrene

JKthree

well the problem with that is memory space of course because of different materials.

And sadly, long story my save data was deleted, (I delted the install data and patch data just in case for when i got the download version, and I had to start all over even though my save data was still there, even when I tried the UMD version...*sigh*)

I'm just finishing up 100% again, I did fast before I can do it again, but god is it stressful. I'll check to see if I can copy my published level back to my moon so i can edit it, I might just make the level copyable, The big version you can't edit but I think you can still do the tiny version.

UPDATE: I was afraid this would happen, If you publish a level and delete it from your moon and its not coypable you can't put it back on your moon. So I guess that logo really is the final version...sorry

Oh and Gil maybe make the level copyable, surely somone can find out a way to get it into an item.

I'm going to see if i can back up the install, patch and save data to prevent this monstrosity from happening again. Acing some of the levels in the PSP can put the Bunker to shame.

Gilgamesh
11-25-2009, 11:16 AM
Wow, really sorry to hear that JK. :(

Note to self : don't delete levels off of my moon unless absolutely necessary.

I've just published the level as copyable. You guys can either pick up the letters and remake the logo yourselves, or copy the level and use it as a template instead of the blank template (after deleting the prize bubbles/scoreboard).

Really nice work on the logo Gilgamesh - I'm amazed at how professional it looks. Did you use the imbedded materials bug to get the letters inside the background?

I copied the level to My Moon and tried using it as a template, and it works like a charm. The only thing I changed was the logo background. I material changed it to black fiber paper and added a black sticker, and it looks super sharp. The entire logo takes up one whole tick on the thermo but it's totally worth it.

Thanks!

Hey, glad to hear that you like it. :)

Yes, I used the material merge glitch for the black outline. I had planned to do so from the start and I think it gives a really nice effect (I was afraid I would get random graphical artifacts). It also has the beneficial side-effect of getting rid of the uncolored "sides" of the lettering.

And yes, it took up a whole tick (actually, a pixel or two less) once I was done. I imagine it's because of the number of objects and the multiple corners. All of the letters are static and made of the same material though.

Personally, I think 1 tick is more than acceptable (I actually expected it to take more). Considering the difficulty inherent in the Create mode, I don't think many people will need that amount of thermo in most of their levels.

And if it turns out you really need it, you can always delete the logo to free up the thermo. :)

Edit: I really hope having such a detailed logo on the PSP will help put LBPC on the map. It would make it all worth it.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to add your logo to existing levels, but of course JK's will work great for that. It might be worthwhile looking into making your logo level the "official" template for LBPC. Thoughts?

Yes, JK's logo is much more portable and probably less thermo-demanding.

I'll talk to CC about it, but if it goes that route I'd remove the letter prize bubbles and put JKthree's logos there instead (if that's alright with you JK) to keep them together.

JKthree
11-25-2009, 06:35 PM
Put them together, Yeah it sounds like a good idea, saves me a levels space (who knows there might be less levels we can have up unlike 20 levels on the PS3). And I went and looked at it on my moon, mine does take way less (it just hits the very bottom tick on the thermoeter)

Yeah I think the 2 logos should be combined if there's gonna be an official level, so people have a choice on big and complex or small and simple LBPC logos

Ok, I've cleaned out and republished the level. I've removed the letter prizes and added JKthree's logo instead. I've also added credit to JKthree in the level description.

This past week I had a major case of Internet connection FAIL and couldn't post a reply. So, there's one big problem with this....

If we use your level as a template, it shows the level as being made by you. Fortunately I didn't get too far into my current project before noticing this. The only way I was able to see that you were listed as the level author was during a play test. I hit 'start' to pause the game and then selected 'about this level', and there was your PSN as clear as day. I haven't published a level yet so I can't know for sure if this will change when it goes live, but I suspect not.

Instead I just used your individual letters to recreate the LBPC logo in a new level and re-embedded it into a black background. The end result was the same (i.e., it looks awesome) except that I'm now listed as the author of my level and I lost 20 minutes manually arranging the letters.

So, I'm not sure what you want to do about this except to maybe make your logo level non-copyable. I'd hate for someone to spend a lot of time creating a masterpiece only to discover that they aren't the one who shows up as the creator. Even worse, if someone makes a crap level your name will be all over it. lol ;)

Gilgamesh
11-30-2009, 02:26 AM
That's rather unexpected, to say the least. Does the name still stick around if you make a copy of the copy?

Also, publish a dummy copy of the template online if you can (you can make it not copyable for safety) to see if the name still sticks around once published.

Edit: I've republished it non-copyable until we get to the bottom of this. Thankfully I kept the individual letters in my captured objects for just such an eventuality.

Taffey
11-30-2009, 03:10 AM
Yes, it's an unfortunate bu... er, "feature". I'll play around with publishing some copies of the level and see what I can figure out - stay tuned.

Taffey
11-30-2009, 03:22 AM
Ok, it seems that the publishing process resets the author name. Copies of your level retained you as the level author until I published them. Once they were published, both the online versions of the level and the levels on My Moon changed over to listing me as the author.

So, false alarm. Sorry about that, but I was a bit worried there for a while.

Gilgamesh
11-30-2009, 03:34 AM
Hey no problem. Thanks for catching that, I would have never found out about it myself. :)

I've republished the level as copyable, and I've also gotten the OK from CC to promote it. I'm not sure what would be the best way to go about it though. I imagine a stickied thread in one of the LBP PSP subforums should do, with instructions on how to get and how to use the template.

Taffey
11-30-2009, 03:46 AM
A stickied thread would seem to make the most sense - back in my moderating days that's what I would have done. CC may want to keep the number of sticky threads to a minimum though, which is certainly understandable.

I'd say just make a new thread with the necessary instructions and go from there. If it gets stickied, great. If not, we can always bump it when necessary and/or direct people towards it. I may also put a link in my sig to help promote it.

What do you think?

Gilgamesh

Sure, and maybe there could be a link to the thread in our own level showcase threads.

I just worked on my level for the "first level contest" and tried to include the LBPC Logo.
Everytime i tried to change the angle, size or even position of it with the popit cursor, my psp crashed and i had to shut it down.
Any Solutions?
Didnt u have the same problem?

more questions:

is it right that the logo cant be put more in the front, so i can use the background layer? couldnt really try it because of the crashs.

is the only way to use the big Logo to build my level in the template level? no including the big logo in my level afterwards?

Gilgamesh
12-10-2009, 06:52 PM
Unfortunately, due to capture tool limitations the big logo can't be given away as a prize, so the level has to be used as a blank template to build your level in (it can't be incorporated into an existing level). It's strange that the PSP would crash from moving the logo though. I have had a bit of freezing while selecting the logo but it usually clears quickly and then the logo can be moved like any object. The logo can be moved to any layer you want it on, it occupies the thin layer.

You could try ungluing the black border to see if that lets you move the letters around. The game doesn't always like merged objects.

If you continue to have problems I would suggest using JKThree's logo instead.

There are prize bubbles in the template level you can pick up. They each contain the two parts of JKThree's logo in two different sizes.

the "LBP" on the black background doesnt.
