View Full Version : Yes, use F4F Guided Missile! Never Before Seen (maybe) Control Mechanism!

:pAfter finding out that objects can still be grabbed whilst viewing a 'magic mouth' cut scene, I decided to make a missile that could be controlled on the other side of the level and still being able to view it!
The missile itself is made up of 3 jets, pink floaty and an impact explosive and is no bigger than Sackboy. 2 jets are attached to the back of the missile providing the forwords thrust and the 3rd is located on the underside of the missile. This jet controls the direction and is activated by the grab switch. The top jet on the back of the missile is slighly stronger than the one below so that the missile always wants to fly down (or up if you're flying in the opposite direction) but can be countered and over-powered by the 3rd jet.
the design still needs a bit of tweaking but seems to work pretty well and could be used to create a puzzle or challenge.
the fact that you can still grab whilst watching a 'magic mouth' cut scene could allow for a whole level where you control a mechanical sack-bot from a distance. And with RTM223, KernelM, Burnvictim42, CompherMC's variety of grab based logic the posibilities are endless!!
A simple level will be uploaded in about ten minutes showing off the guided missile. The key will be in my vault and the code is 2550344 ;)

i was trying to get something like that to work for ages, i was trying to make a scout type robot with a machine gun that you sackboy pilots from a command post. also it could use my newest and coolest logic. it can be hidden and still operated (you don't have to see where your sackboy is). its very cool, it has 2 grab switches on the side and one on the bottom. the bottom switch controls what mode the vehicle is in (assuming your using a vehicle). when its in drive mode you grab left or right. but in fire mode you move left or right and tap grab to fire cannon, in fire mode hold grab for secondary fire. the bottom grab switch is reserved exclusively for changing the mode. anyways ill look into a way to incorporate this tomorrow.

the scout robot was exactly what I was thinking! I just tried out using multiple grab switches whilst watching a 'magic mouth' cut scene and sadly it will only allow the player to grab one switch. you can not decide which switch to grab as it seems only the grab button (R1) works and not the directional movement controls whilst watching a cut scene :(

Im not clear on how this works but does each grab control a rocket? because you could alternatively "guide" a missile with Mag Keys Or Sensor Switches, but it would require a bit of tweaking

As you can only grab one object whilst watching a cut scene, the grab switch controls one jet that makes the nose rise. When nothing is grabbed, the missile wants to fly downwards so many consecutive taps keep the missile flying straight and longer tabs will cause the missile to fly upwards.

Woah, I never thought of a robot you could guide with grab switches. Really, that's genius! You just gave me loads of ideas ;)

I might start work on the scout robot tomorrow and explore the amount of possibilities available with just one grab switch as i plan to use a 'magic mouth' cut scene to allow the player to watch the robot and stay in a safe control room. I need a minimum of 3 functions; walk forwards, walk backwards and shoot/jump. comphermc has created a forward/backwards logic using one switch I think and maybe I could use one quick tap to shoot/jump...

I believe yours changes direction on each tap but drives on the hold, right? that could be a problem if i wanted a jump or shoot function as it uses every opportunity of control from just one grab switch :(
It was your thread about your tap/grab logic that gave me the idea of the remote control vehicle in the first place but now i think about it, it seems ur logic uses to many uses of a single grab switch to allow me to add more functions such as shoot or jump, if you know what I mean.
comphermc's logic only uses the 'long grab' to create 2 outputs; forwards and backwards and althrough it changes direction every time you stop, it seems more useful for my needs :p
so you are saying you would combine the two? my Tap grab with Comphs long grab directional? Sounds like a plan

as long as a shoot/jump function is still possible, I'll do anything to make it easier to use :p. Might start making the robot and the control station now... and seeing as online create has been released... want to help with the logic?

ok I've added you and upgraded the guided missile a bit. It's now a lot easier to fly as its lighter and slower than before.. also looks a lot nicer :p

MWHAHAHA! Beat you to it lol.
Although I actually have a howitzer that shoots mortars that you could see through a magic mouth, so I'd have probably came up with this anyway. Nonetheless, thank you :)

Never before seen eh? Unless you put up a screen shot of this "guided missle", no one will ever see it. On here at least.

I really enjoyed flying the missile. I think that it could maybe be used in bomb survivals as a "tactical stike." Like blowing up a nuke before it unleashes it's full potential.
Anyway, if you do F4F, I'd like you to leave feedback on my Cemetery Mansion(Zombie Survival).

are you sure? I've used it recently and it worked fine. 2550344 and 1795833..
hmm.. I'll check again now..
EDIT: hmm.. there is something dodgy going on with it. it did work, but only after the second try.. And it only seems to be messing up on 2550344 but not the other two... Strange...
I'll send you a message when I've fixed it :)
EDIT #2: Ok, I've looked over the logic for the 2550344 code and i can't see anything wrong with it :cry:
Try it again and remember not to start entering the code whilst the machinery is still setting up, make sure you see a ball firing across and remember to clear (althrough entering your code with the tick also clears it.. but you can never be to sure :p).
Tell me if its still playing up and I'll have a deeper look into it and maybe call in a logic technician..
