If it's true that you can record your own voice for a speech bubble in LBP2 then I think that LBP is going to start a trend of amateur voice actors that will with time gain some fame around us players. Great voices to improve a great level!

What do you think?

the thing im most looking forward to with sound recording is the ability to make your own sound effects!

I can't believe that there are only four people interested in this. I know that ain't true!

Why settle for someone with a Jigsaw voice, why not use Jigsaw? If you're able to record voices, I imagine people could easily record actual voices off of a computer.

I just realised something..
With the terrible voice chat that LBP 1 has, will LBP 2's be the same?!
If so, will the coice acting also cut out in random places?
I reeeaaally hope Mm fixes this for the sequel... :/

Well the reason the voices online get broken up is that they have to travel across multiple networks in real time. When you record your voice (from the PS Eye I presume) you will be recording it straight to your PS3, it will be saved as data and will be fully loaded before you enter the level so it should work fine.

I'm going to have a lot of fun with this. My characters are going to be so melodramatic. Brilliant. :gopher:

i can do nelson mandela if anyone ever needs that...

actually, that would be perfect for my Nelson Mandela series! It's going to mostly consist of swinging on pieces of sponge over firey obstacles.

I keed.

Anyone have any ideas what the "Magic Glove" is going to be?

haha... Whoops! I thought I was posting in the "LBP2" thread when I posted that question above. Wrong thread! Move along!

Yep, voices may just be a part of the recruitment and collaboration process now. "making new level - need voices!" might become a common thread on the forums.

Voice acting will work great next to the fully integrated cutscene editor that is supposed to be being added. Finally, no more of them silly magic mouth lists - they look so unprofessional.

PS: Those pipes look awesome.

Do you all think it would be worth it to remake the entire Mythicos series with V.O. and cutscenes?

This is my favourite feature yet. I can do Stallone XD. And George Bush. Many others. You're going to see some insane stuff from me, that I can promise you.

So long as they keep that Stephen Fry type voice for the tutorials I'm happy!

As for me, I think I'll keep using the sounds (of the Magic Mouthes) as voices.

Okay, because I've got a strong French accent, but also because I don't think real voices would fit the game (actually, it depends what kind of level you're making). But I'd like more voices (I mean, characters sounds) in the game.

Can't wait for parodies of both games and movies. I think machinima....ists will love the new tools.

If you need someone with a strong derbyshire accent look no further. I can also do a pretty good Bruce Forsyth and Tommy Cooper. Oh and I do a pretty mean train and a trumpet ( with no train or trumpet present obviously )

Snappyguy

I can do a mean "eerie wind".

no only that, but we need machinema/cutscene artists and I assume more and more creators need to rely on others.

It's not a Steven Fry TYPE voice, it IS Steven Fry. He is the narrator.
Also, I too hope he comes back on board for LBP2.

I am 90% sure I read somewhere ages ago that Stephen Fry signed up for multiple LBP games on the PS3. Not sure if it's contractual or whatever but I am fairly certain he will be back.

As for voice recording, definitely sounds fun. I can imagine some crazy voice stuff emerging. I am curious how it is recorded. If it's just with your standard ps3 mic I'd be worried about quality.

This feature will really screw up all of my levels. Imagine a 14-year old with a squeky voice trying to sound professional.

Matimoo
05-10-2010, 06:47 PM
Will it be direct upload (from a mic in PS3/eye.etc) or by File? file would be so much easier, I could go and record some stuff from my friends

Pattington_Bear
05-10-2010, 07:14 PM
by file would be great i don't have a mic for my PS3 but i'm doing music tech so i got a ton of vocal mics

They already said that magic mouths are not gone completely so I'd imagine we still have the option for text bubble type communication with the player.

:cry:I was hoping they'd still have magic mouths...

Magic mouths are not gone, Basically nothing is gone, only improved upon or added to - how else would this game be totally backwards compatible with everything that you have already made, played and bought :)

The removal of magic mouths was just a silly rumour.

I think what may have caused it is the fact in some pictures you can see little text boxes, people may have just assumed this was replacing magic mouths or somethin'. :)

Ugh, I am NOT looking forward to all the 12-year-olds doing voices for their levels. Drives me crazy when I go to check out some kind of youtube tutorial video and it's a kid with an annoying voice. Of course my voice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTjdiKnrsjk) isn't that great for this kind of stuff either so.... I'll probably be enlisting the help of others.

Thankfully, I know someone in real life that is an epic impersonator. I wonder if he'll end up getting LBP2...?

Meh, anyways...

I'll probably just stick to either basic voices, or random abstract sounds I can get from my house. (Subtitles work perfectly fine you know...)

And now, I go. :hood:
