View Full Version : What will happen to the 3D Glitch?

So one of my most favorite features in LBP is the 3D glitch, but the only problem is it's so buggy. Do you think they'll add a possibility for multi-layers? Imagine using the 3D glitch working flawlessly. That, is my main suggestion for LBP 2.

I'm going to be optimistic and assume that levels that have used glitches from LBP1 will still function correctly in LBP2. An extra layer tool would be pretty cool though.

Either all glitches are gonna stay unharmed (like glitched material is still glitched after the glitch is fixed) OR all the backgrounds will clash with the levels and destroy all those 3D layered masterpieces... :(

I wish people would stop calling it the 3D glitch, it just adds extra layers! Amazing as it is it does NOT suudenly ransform the game in to a three dimentional gaming experience /rant.
I honestly don't know the opinions of Mm on this matter so I don't know whether they will have set out to fix it or just left it the way it is. I do know that it is a whole different game (well kinda) so I don't think the exact same glitches will be available/acievable - but there probably will be a whole new bunch of little virtual glitch cracks for us to get into and extend the creative boundries yet again.

i think they will probably have a tool for doing it cause if there isn't and the glitch gets fixed all the levels using it would probably break.....

The physics of ALL objects in LBP2 CANNOT change because if they did most levels would function incorrectly. The ONLY thing that changes about original levels in the changeover will be visuals. So all existing 3D levels will still work.
And as EVERYTHING can be carted over from v1 to v2, so too will the 3D tools. Whether they function correctly in the new game, I can't be sure.
So 3D levels will almost definitely still function in LBP2, but 3D tools may not be useable in the new interface.

Quote from a developer
You see this pyramid of people. At the pinnacle of it, you’ve got 50 people who do stuff that I didn’t know you could do -- they’ve broken the game for us in so many ways. The 50-layer bug is my favorite one that they’ve exploited. It’s being used artistically to create new backgrounds. Which wasn’t supposed to be possible, but they’ve done it. Then below the 50 people, you’ve got 500 who make good levels. Then you have the 5,000 who have made levels that are totally worth playing. And it goes down and down.

I read a post where they mentioned 'trying' to make it 100% compatible, including exploits, but the tone of it inclined that some exploits 'might not' make it, depending on how things went.
I know the explited backgrounds are awesome, I just try to avoid using them myself (hoping one day there is an official tool for it).
It would be sad not playing those levels in LBP2... but on the other hand, they are using exploits that may or may not be able to ship in the new code... :(

I think 50 layer exploit is one of most easier to port, this extra layers are also data they can interpreted that to be display in legal way in LBP2 if MM want to.
Besides, they talking so much how fun this bug is they might implement this legally and in better way

I'll be honest, I'll be completely surprised and lose whatever faith in humanity I have left if this isn't a built in feature.
... Because it WILL be a built in feature. Considering all that they've done, and the 3D glitch itself having proven that it doesn't break the system... it just has to be. If not, I will devour space time. Again. Like I did yesterday. In the foourth dimension.

i think it might still be there. MM noticed it a while ago, like they said in the latest Qore episode. they didn't seem to see it as a draw back but more as an advantage in their game. of course it might when the new games come out but lets keep our fingers crossed and hope MM can agree with the community to keep the glitch. they've been doing pretty good at it so far.

it would be cool if we would have the three layer you build in then you go to another create mode or tool which lets you create some 10 layers in the background

Mm should add the 3D in the tools. To many time people are using this. So theres no reason why 3D dissapears.
