:) in LBP psp they need lighting its so boring going in to "scary lvls" when u cant even go to night. Its brod daylight all the time cambridge needs to add the lighting switch that they have on LBP for the ps3 it makes it much more fun. ps have u seen the trailer for LBP 2! it looks cool

Cambridge has confirmed that we're never going to have "fancy lighting", but we can still hope for a basic day/night setting.

And yes. By now, everyone who has joined this site has seen it, discussed it, and salivated over it.
Well in my case at least. =D

but we can still hope for a basic day/night setting.

That basically means we are getting night and day. Hopefully we can get a brightness setting(from blinding light to pitch black) and maybe a hue setting at least.

Here's my guess. There will be a Global Lighting feature simular to the PS3's version, but not any other kind of light. Have you guys seen the hidden videos on LBP PSP that the one French guy found?

Convincing much?

I do wish this is all true, but you can't trust everything you find on the internet.
Now I'm not saying its not true, I'm just saying to not get your hopes up.

We do know for a fact that the day/night is coming eventually, but I don't know about the fog and hue.

PS: Where is the voice partin the vid?

PS: Where is the voice partin the vid?

Good question...

I saw a video containing the same thing on Youtube before, but it had the voice.

That's because the video's were made to anticipate the features on the PSP. When they discovered it wouldn't work, they hid it in the game's encoding. That's why some have voices and others don't because they realized it wouldn't fit when they were far into production.

Why didn't they delete the file instead?

There are games that keep unused stuff in their programming. One example are the Pokemon games. For whatever reason, I don't know.

If we do get the day/night settings, how dark would the night setting really go? Because I was thinking why make a night setting if we really can't see without some lighting?

I would like to see night to day, brightness, maybe fog, and a color scheme changer(as in black and white, brown and white, ect.).
Yes, night and day is different to brightness. Day and night changes where the sun/moon is and brightness changes how dark or light it is(if you like where the sun/moon is, you can still change how light or dark the level is without moving the sun/moon).

TheNerd

I don't get the Sun and Moon part. If you can change the brightness, which causes the actual effect of the Day/Night setting, why the need for a Sun/Moon setting? Or did I just misunderstand?

ConverseFox

Well, I sort of said it in a missleading way. Brightness is like the brightness settings on your psp. Day and night changes the time of day it is(this might sound akward but it changes both britness and the hue in a way without changing the settings for them).

I hope you know what hue is because I'm not explaining it.

i think at the very least they should make the default bg colour/color changeable.
i mean a night/day feature would be epic, but lets face it, its probably too much for the psp

Well, actually. amazingflyingpoo's "Shallow Springs" level succeeded in giving me the feeling that it was supposed to be a scary level.

i hope we get the real water and day/night settings soon (tht is if they decide to make it an update)

^The problem isn't that Cambridge doesn't want to. The problem is that the PSP can't handle water.

This would be a good feature. Unfortunately, the psp's capability to handle such things is trash compared to the ps3 And i agree, the song for the lbp2 trailer is good. i think its called sleepyhead.

Yeah, the song is "Sleepyhead" by Passion Pit. It's a good song. I have it on my PSP.

Saying that the PSP is incapable of water/lighting is a bit of an overstatement. Its all a case of how its programmed, yeah the graphics wouldn't be as good as the PS3 (fair point), but the technology is certainly there to include most if not all of the functionality of LBP PS3 (apart from the obvious limitations based around multiplayer). :)

eagerneph

Hmmm...maybe they actually could include water somehow. But I'm not worried about that cause I don't really think I need water that bad.

But lighting, I would love. That would add some great effects to everyones levels. I'm sure that LBP PSP is already pushing the PSP extremely close to the "limits" I'm guessing.

I have no doubts, but features like lighting isn't going to push it that much further, at the most the game will lose some thermo around it, but nothing major because the globals effect the whole level, so its more or less like a background effect. If they started to add "LED's" I think thats where the game may begin to struggle, but who knows.

I bet they will add global effect with fog because when you select the alpine backround theres a white fog.

timecatcher

I sincerely hope they do (not that im not enjoying the game without lighting, but it really adds to the effect of dark areas etc).

eagerneph
07-09-2010, 03:25 PM
I agree. Things would look better with fog and whatnot.

Silver39
07-09-2010, 06:04 PM
Actually, in a interview with Cambridge. They specifically stated no "fancy" lighting effects. The definition of fancy is unclear but it does imply that global lighting will be difficult.

Also, just because there is fog in a background, does not mean that it is easy to change that fog at will. In fact it may stress the games capabilities to have the ability to alter fog than having it just sit there.

Hmmm...I must admit that you do have some good points there.
