Hey guys!

I'm Zelexin. This is my first post on these boards. But, I wont call myself new, as I have been lurking/browsing for a long while :).

I had an urge of making a thread, after I was discussing with a few of my old clan friends about LittleBigPlanet.

I have seen on this forum the mention of "Codes in names for people who are from our forum".. and "Our logo on our levels"... But I thought about going one step further.

I have ran clans on the PC and PS3, and they were all successful in their own respected games, and I wanted to see if I could incorporate this into LittleBigPlanet.

I don't want to jump straight to making a clan forum and recruiting people, though, before I ran this by most of the people on this board.

So, my question is this;

Do you guys think that it's a respectable idea, that a clan is created, so that, on the name of every level our members create, is a clan tag, so that people can find our maps almost instantly? (Maybe even create a logo for it, too?)

E.g. "ZLBPV Monsterous Houses"

and "ZLBPV Thunderous Minigame"

(ZLBPV being an example, not the actual clan name.)

I know that it would only work if we had some solid, great level editors, though. So, I thought I'd run this by you guys to see if anybody wants to start one with me, as I have big plans for a clan in this game.

I ask for mature PS3 users, as I have worked with people who are very young before, and in more cases than most, they have been more hassel than help.

If you would like to discuss this idea, and more, my E-Mail is;

Jasonsnothomeatm@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks for reading.

This is a good idea, but I don't think people would want to be a part of a clan, a lot of people ( especially in littlebigplanet ) would probably go solo. But, it all depends on the person, I for one, would join, if the clans reputation was solid, I don't want to join a clan that has crappy levels, that would discourage people from playing my level. So it all depends :)

Btw Welcome to the forums!

Lol. But I don't think this idea is bad...

I'm imagininge going on LBP one day and playing a great level with a wierd tag infront of it, searching the tag and finding loads of awesome levels. It would be like a legion of elite creators and they would all be celebritys :D

The creators would have to be pretty phonomenal though.

I think that is a great point. Finding the levels of people we know are good creaters would be very easy. Plus just searching a few easy levels would allow for less time looking and more time playing.:p

I'd be in the same clan as you. ;)

Really though, clans could be a problem as lots of members here are friends with each other and would be dissappointed if they were left out or if a friend of theirs was left out.

I do second that idea, this community like I;ve said before is a great close community and personally I do think a clan would be awesome but I would have to say not all are creators myself, and it would be disheartening not to be in a clan because I only play, but that's my opinion lol :)

well if not clans than i still believe that Id-ing levels with some sort of tag that allows people to know that good developers have created is a great idea. It allows us here on LBPcentral to keep in touch with level ideas.

Something easy like LBPC as a prefix would suffice.

Well what we could do is once released and we could post as in demo version so everyone can have a play and rate it and if everyone likes the level we could officially tag it as LBPC that would ensure great levels are filtered by the community and giving the offical LBPC stamp

that is a good idea. Having the community vote on the level and if you create enough levels with passing qualifications than you could tag future levels with a tag so all can play.

Yeah definitely I mean if a person continuously makes great levels they could get exemption to post straight but majority could definitely be voted for and then like I said if majority give the seal of approval tagged with LBPC that way the community agree and really would add another aspect . Also on the clan wise aspect what we could do is set up play times together, new members could join with fellow members and once create a player even workshops so that experienced creators could show new people how to create different stuff online live tutorials maybe// :)

Wow, this sounds really interesting.

This would really show the LBP community whose levels are good straight away.

Have any of you tagged any levels with LBPC yet, or are you going to start once the full version hits?

And I saw on the boards some community projects, te LBPC tag would also come in handy here, because not only the person who published it would receive credit, but the people here. Although that could be written in the description.

Anyway, I'm up for it if it's ok. :)

Haha, thanks for all of the support and good idea's guys!

I have had a few messages, and about 10 people are interested in this idea.

I understand that map creators would have to be phenominal. That is the whole point. But, you have to start from somewhere, so if your a very good map creator, having you on board would bring players who are equally as talented at making maps to our clan.

I wasnt thinking along the lines of LBPC as the tag, because that would be something the forum and website owners could recognise and create.

I was thinking along the lines of having "SWR" before every map. (Stealthed Wasp Regiment). As I have six friends who helped create SwR* (a clan I owned) with me back at the start of CoD4, and we are already quite recognised.

The idea of having a tag from a previous game would advertise the clan as already well known and quite mature.

I fully understand if you guys would prefer a LBPC tag. That is fine. But, if anybody else would prefer to start off with me, as SWR, that would be greatly appreciated :).

I am already in the process of messaging and chatting to certain top beta map creators who are interested in the idea, so any more would help out tremendiously.

Thanks guys. Zelexin, Jason.

I hope my post, even if you aren't interested in SWR, will help create something great for LBPC :). Good luck to you all.

i would not call it clan because that would be a name for group of people how play competeive online, i think clan would be the wrong name for the group, i would call it a company, or stuidos because people who are making level are trying it for the people intested or to get money.

i have my company/studio mentally unstable, this will include me, my two bro and may be armed reaper and creative.

but the probelm is with this is that people wont stand a chance with a solo. will might find dlc with the studio names on them. so you have like mentally unstable level pack, with all the prices and extra level that have not been realse

you might even get people from sony making game, i dont thing it should be called a clan, its too hardcore

chiropractor345
10-11-2008, 06:59 PM
i think that is a very good point. it is a very hardcore term (although it could apply to LBP because it is very hardcore :) ) I think studio, or production team would be a good alternative.

No matter what we call it i still think that it is a good idea that accomplishes the same thing.

but i think in 1-2 years this is going to cause probelms for newbies (no such thing as noobs in lbp,) because it will be hard for them to get people attention, i think prodution teams (that the better name then studios) will over shadow people who just started or people who want to do solo.

Im planning on doing making my own production team as i have said before but i think they should split the online in half, so you have solos and prodution teams, this will be hard but maybe mm could but a clan option in like other games for you be come a memeber of a prodution team, and when you publish the game u have an option for the level to be linked to the prodution team or has your solo level

I'm not too sure about that, to be fair yes there will be people who work together and produce great levels that is fair enough and single players who create but over shadowing im not too sure about . Afterall a great level will be a great level and will get recognized. I mean afterall word of mouth is a key aspect of Lbp too and word will spread via forums like ours. Personally the creation of productions and studios well that's up to the individuals, some may prefer having someone to create with , others maybe solo artists so really I don't see a problem in that, after all the rate and tag release option that I thought of could be a good way to find trends and give confidence to anyone knowing that the community likes it so that gives confidence to release world wide But I will explain that in a separate thread.

But I agree with being called a clan , you would associate clan with more of the hardcore/aggressive gamers afterall this game is for all ages and all depths.

chiropractor345
10-11-2008, 10:12 PM
i dont think it will over shadow too much. I just think it will be easier if you are in the mood to play a great level with not alot of hassle, you can just find a familiar production team/studio and play a great level. I still think that new people and undiscovered talent will still get their levels played. Especially if they are from LBP central :)

Kyashu
10-11-2008, 10:26 PM
Yeah totally after all talent if not good enough can not be held down regardless of the situation and definitely with he forums theres been many times when I've saw someone mention a level and i'll still visit it regardless of it being fun or not, after all it is about spreading the word.

chiropractor345
10-11-2008, 11:59 PM
indeed and i think that this will be a very effective way to spread the word about good levels.

i can see what you mean, but that my opion of the production teams any way. is their like a list of new levels that have been publish online

sorry for the second post but i had another thought,

when the prodution team get big, eg 40 mememebr, i know a clan that is that massive. they will probley have lot of projects, so maybe this will speed up the levels. you might get different series coming from one production team, like me i was thinking of chicken boy, but also have another one that takes the mick out of other levels in other games. You will get bebo pages or even myspace with productuion team where you can more fans, it possible, i have done mine. you might even get a charity level, where production teams comes together for comic relief, or even become their own band aid, and every year hey make a level which will cost money but all the money goes to charity. so theit will be some good out of this.

i going to put my fanboyness behind when playing this game and going to see if i can get my 360 fanboys and wii fanboys will help make levels.

another probelm is that you find clan split up into new clans, this could happen in littlebigplanet where production team will die over night because of a disagrement.

Zelexin
10-12-2008, 12:55 PM
I see what you mean about calling it a clan.

I used the word, because It was a clan previously.

As the name of my clan was Stealthed Wasp Regiment, I would only see it fair to call us a Regiment of Map Designers. Regiment can be used in the same complex as Team, so it suites the mood quite well.

I understand what you are saying about overshadowing new-comers, but a regiment of map designers would account for less than 1% of actual map creators on this game. We could have near 100 members and I doubt we'd even make a dent in the vast sales that will probably be LittleBigPlanets release.

It would be more like a secret organisation, where as a fine selected few know about the tag, and can share it with their friends. Word of mouth will work well with this situation, if we get a good enough reputation.

I've had a lot of interest in this from other websites and friends/word of mouth, and I think the SW Regiment are going to be great contenders to anything else that is produced.

With good management, this could work very well.

If anybody is interested in helping create a website or forum for SWR, please e-mail me at Jasonsnothomeatm@hotmail.co.uk or PM me right here on this message board. Thanks :)

Massive UPDATE!!! Guys.

We now have a website.

It tells you guys what we're about, and what we aim to achieve.

We will be working on getting a different domain name, so that Weebly is no longer in the URL, but that can be arranged if we get more popular.

Removed Link for Further Moderation.
Why? :s

If anybody would like to help me create a forum, It would be greatly appreciated, and I want this to go live before LBP release on the 21st of October.

If there are any spelling mistakes, or slight problems with the website, contact me immediately, as I would like it to be as organised and respectable as possible. If you would like to have a LittleBigPlanet blog attached to the website, that can also be arranged. Remember, we're still recruiting map designers and people to find good maps.

Thanks for your support guys, heres to a great SWR future.

Thanks Panzer, I'll take that into concideration and bring it up at the next meeting I have.

We chose SWR because it's unique, has a history, and is recognised by some clans already.

The possibilities of a clan are pretty cool. There could be a creating and competing section. The first being (after you have proven yourself) you could join up with the "create crew" and could be the clan's map makers. Then the competing section could face off other clans for a levels highscores on the leader boards. This is all fairly obvious, but I am just sorta thinking out load. I have been in a lot of clans, but those were strictly PvP kill the other guy, whereas LBP has a lot less violence. Anyways, just my thoughts.

Zelexin
10-12-2008, 05:52 PM
Thanks for your views THE-FAT :).

I have now sorted out a forum for SWR, so that when map creators make a map, they can advertise on the forum as well as having SWR in their map name.

Check it out here;

... I have edited it.. As the link has been removed in my post above. (Reason? :S)

and if anybody here are interested in joining, sign up on the forum and we'll get the ball rolling :)

We need one or two people to join so that we can start small and be confident that we will grow. If you don't want to join because nobody else has stepped forward, remember that, if you step forward, everybody else with the same frame of mind as you will join once they see we have more members :).

I am currently working on talking to around twenty people who are interested in this, so we should be fine for LBP's launch day.

i dont know how clan wars will work, but it but like the media industy, how do you know what game did the best, how many people brought it, lbp could be the same, how many people played the levels, or it could be how many 10/10 they get in a level

Lamniformes
10-16-2008, 02:16 AM
For a clan war you could have a central website that manages a league. The league would pick a level topic/theme. The clan/production group would have a given amount of time to complete the level. The community or a group of judges would then vote on the winner. I think that would be the best bet for clan competition.

BTW I just signed up on the board but have been browsing for the past month or so. Glad to be here.

ClankXIII
10-16-2008, 02:24 AM
GameBattles would never have LBP clan competition. It's too unfair to judge. The community could be biased if it was their vote, the theme could be in a certain team's favor, and who would be 'qualified' to be a judge? And what makes their opinion greater than anyone else's? There are just too many problems for that to work.

Not at all my friend. Clans are awesome abd this idea is great. The thing I hate is when most creators find clans pointless which is not true. Clans are awesome if you run and use it right.

I'm currently leader of 4 clans. 2 of which have been sucessful so far.

Fallout: Beyond the Wastes Clan [Closed till LBP2]
Shadow Hunters [Still recruiting]
Plasma Troopers [Closed till LBP2]
Vision [Join today]

The first 2 were very sucessful. Although this jealous clan has been spamming my levels and wants "war" so I've made Vision, my Pacifist Creation group.

Any good creators that love wackyness, are creative and aren't getting enough plays on awesome levels then I would highly recommend you join Vision. It's dedicated to creation and was established 2 days ago.

Try my level Vision Inc to see more information. PS. It a visually nice level on black and white city rooftops.

If anyone wants their clan to be allied with mine then send me a message. :D
