View Full Version : LBP DLC Transfer to LBP2? (I have a minor problem)

So what if you bought, say, the Assassin's Creed II outfit in LBP1, but forgot to download it to LBP1, then you find out that LBP1 was cracked by your 4 year old cousin, and you wait for LBP2 to come out, then it does, but you want that Assassin's Creed II outfit on LBP2.
True story.
So, can you download LBP1 DLC onto LBP2? Or am I making the backwards compatibility more complicated than it is?

All of the costume items, stickers and other bits and pieces you’ve paid for or collected from the LittleBigPlanet will be sitting in your Popit, right where you left them.
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you'd be able to do that. I really don't see why not! :)

Yeah, I agree. I imagine that you can purchase the DLC in the new game in exactly the same way, so you will more than likely be able to simply install it on the new game.

Thanks for the answers guys, theyre reassuring! I was starting to get worried about not having some of my un-installed content in LBP2.
Cheers!

Also, you can install it without the LBP disc I believe, you just have to have LBP data on your PS3.

As long as you have the patch, if you download it it will unlock, If you cant download old DLC strait to LBP2, then just rent LBP 1 or borrow it off someone.

I was thinking about renting LBP1 from Family Video down the street.
Thanks for the answers guys!

So, can you download LBP1 DLC onto LBP2?

You don't need either game. If you go to the PSN Store, and select the "Downloads" button in the top-right corner, you can redownload all your past DLC purchases from there.

Remember, like aya said, you can still download from PSN store.

I mean they're releasing a game, doesn't mean they're deleting the entire LBP1 store area in there. :p

I'm 95% sure you will be able to purchase the same costumes and packs from the PSN store onto LBP2.

Oh?
So I have a 5% chance of not being Ezio.
Well, ill go with the 95%. Atleast its not a 94%.

From the store though you are just downloading a key to unlock the DLC that you have already downloaded in a patch.

eh?
What do you mean "just the key"?

EDIT:
If what you mean is that you can only download it because LBP1 was updated, do you think LBP2 wouldn't have all that encoded into it? -_-

I mean who are you supposed to be able to use all the stuff from the other game without that?

eh?

Some games are different, but with LBP media molecule didn't want the community divided, only being able to play the levels that they own the DLC from. So they do patches to the game to put the DLC on the game.
Everyone has the right to play in levels with that DLC, and even go into online create with people using that DLC.
But not everyone is able to use the DLC fro creating purposes. This is where the store comes in, you pay for the "Key" which is just the extra bit of coding you need to be allowed to use that content for personal use.

What i mean is how would you be bale to use levels you did with that stuff?
Remember, 100% compatibility?

Well I am sure that the "Key" will work with the LBP2 disc, I am 90% certain that the disc will have all LBP DLC patches burnt to it, so its just a matter of putting the disc in and all your DLC will be there for you.

I don't have an argument, I'm just furthering the idea that it is almost guaranteed all dlc will be downloadable to LBP2 :P

-LBP1 don't even take half of one BD layer
-MM promised compatibility
-They have game data ready to go, since they just sticker audio files and model files
-They build LBP1 on top of LBP2

They just need to throw data on disk :)
So thinking that that LBP1 DLC won't work on LBP2 you need to be uber pessimist
