Not long.

Full modern intel processor.... No. A simple processor would be more than possible and you could probably get it up and running very quickly. Beyond that, achieving anything particularly interesting like pipeline parrallelisation would start to become tricky and in all honesty... Tedious.

Personally I don't see much point in building a processor at gate level, just to program it in assebly. I don't even think that such a system should confer much in theway of bragging rights. Upsilandre and hibbsi, with their calculators do deserve bragging rights for what they achieved, simply because the tools the used were not suitable for the application and the creative problem solving is something to be respected imo. The first lbp2 processor will most likely just copy real world designs for the components as the tools now fit the real world paradigms... It's an exercise in re-inventing the wheel.
