View Full Version : What kind of music will you create?

08-21-2010, 06:52 PM
So everybody knows you can make own music in LBP 2. Just noticed that there wasn't a thread like this and I decided to make one. Personally there is only one musical number I would love to make. I don't put the link but search in youtube 'Final Fantasy IX Court Jesters'. It's my favourite game music of all time among the 'Tea By the Sea'. So what kind of music will you make?
PS: I didn't find thread like this so if there is one link it in comments, thanks!

At high risk of spoiling what levels will be in my Spyro series:

08-21-2010, 06:58 PM
I'll probably try to make some own music, although I have Never done anything like that before.

But hey! Sometime's got to be the first! :p

08-21-2010, 07:06 PM
I've been planning for quite a bit really, I already have a few samples made. They're for my MAPI project.

08-21-2010, 07:06 PM
I will make the good kind of music! :p

08-21-2010, 07:08 PM
I am far from a musical person but I will probably try to make some peaceful piano music (lolol as if we haven't had enough piano in LBP1)
Something that you could hear in flower, although I don't want to copy any music.

08-21-2010, 07:17 PM
Space music. :)

08-21-2010, 07:20 PM
im gonna make this for my level

08-21-2010, 07:47 PM
hopefully something that resembles the music i like. even though i have no musical talent whatso ever....this will fail >_>

08-21-2010, 07:49 PM
I hope they have some traditional Japanese instruments like the Koto.
I'd make traditional style music..
Also classic piano music.
Possibilities endless and now we'll finally be able to set the mood
very nicely with music in our levels.

08-21-2010, 08:09 PM
I'm gonna write my own music as well as recreate Banjo soundtracks (and some Zelda) to give away as prizes for those who aren't able to read/copy sheet music.

As for the writing part, I'll just write whatever comes to mind, or what mood I'm trying to portray in a level/area that I want a custom soundtrack for.

08-21-2010, 08:11 PM
Im going to write (attempt to, anyway) music for my games.

08-21-2010, 08:19 PM
Re-create the work of Ko Otani (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ko_Otani)

I love his Scores!

Yeah, but the OP asks wich style. So... rock, futuristic, classical, hawaiian...?

08-21-2010, 08:19 PM
Yeah, but the OP asks wich style. So... rock, futuristic, classical, hawaiian...?

I dont really know yet. Itll be a bunch of genres, of course.

08-21-2010, 08:26 PM
Requim For A Dream!!

I will try to make my own interactive songs aswell :D

08-21-2010, 08:31 PM
I will make some hard rock, and whatever is needed for a level...
i might just make a showcase level and put in some hard, and awsome looking gameplay.

08-21-2010, 08:35 PM
I've already done enough songs from other artist songs on LBP1, so I probably make my own original pieces. I've already got a bunch that were "too much" for LBP1 to make but I'm pretty sure LBP2 can handle it.

08-21-2010, 08:49 PM
I want to make a techno like song to fit with a 3d shooter (if i can manage to create one) or a space level or something

08-21-2010, 09:18 PM
I think instead of making the music you should type in what song you want so you can play your favorite songs!:p

08-21-2010, 09:27 PM
All I wish is that there will be sound samples that continuous and we'll be able to loop our songs.

Also, I know that music can interact with the music but can your level interact with your music track? Making "dynamic music" in a level would AWESOME.

08-21-2010, 09:29 PM
That would be a nice addition but there isn't much creativity in pressing a button to play a song. Having BOTH the music sequencer and the ability to play whatever song you want would be good, But it would be very hard to implement, probably impossible actually. And even if it were possible people could play offensive songs on their levels.

PS: Quote takes too long to load

.I'm 99.999999999% sure that's possible.

08-21-2010, 10:00 PM
I wanna make something catchy.. You know, something that pops,
with pizazz and all that good stuff.
Although I'm not entirely sure what that will be..

08-21-2010, 10:22 PM
I'll make my own songs....that's what I'll make.

08-21-2010, 10:28 PM
Wasteland/Post-Apocalyptic music. What is that, you may ask? You'll have to wait and see! ;)

08-22-2010, 12:01 AM
Get the sheet music for popular songs, create some music level.

a bit of original techno.

and some of THIS stuff

This is just such good "dark" music.

08-22-2010, 12:11 AM
I have no idea, but I do know one thing: It will have drums.

I like drums.
Lotso drums.

08-22-2010, 12:15 AM
What music will I make? Probably some coldplay scores and then just not publish them because they'll be rubbish! Then I'll teach my dad how to use popit and let him write music until he's blue in the face... And then take credit. :D

Btw, my dad's a musician so :p to all you lesser mortals! *dances*

08-22-2010, 12:54 AM
traditional piano or orchestral music, I don't know. Whatever seems right for my levels series...

08-22-2010, 01:44 PM
Rubbish music, because I don't understand music at all :hero:

I'll try though. I'm sure there'll be some tutorials.

08-22-2010, 04:49 PM
I dont know but if anything thing can make me learn to play it will be LBP :)

08-23-2010, 07:19 AM
I will probably make something like an ambient/ industrial/ and electronic genre for my levels. if you ever played system shock 2 you would know what i mean.

08-23-2010, 11:55 AM
Whatever I make will probably end up like the stuff I make in real life : http://soundcloud.com/dominc-parker/sexy-clouds

Whatever I make will probably end up like the stuff I make in real life : http://soundcloud.com/dominc-parker/sexy-clouds

I hope the game will let us do something anywhere near this quality.

08-23-2010, 01:06 PM
I'm hoping to massively improve on my "Magical Musical Workshop" level and give even more music creation tools for non-musicians to be able to create their own music mix.

*shameless plug*

09-01-2010, 01:26 AM
I am so happy with how the LBP2 music editor is looking to be.

Im hoping that we will be able to produce music on par with this...

First thing im gonna try and do with the game is master the music sequencer.

09-01-2010, 01:48 AM
A lot of Spooky music knowing me :3
and crazy stuff~ *mew

09-01-2010, 01:57 AM
I'm gonna' try and remake some of the Persona 3 music.
I love their music 0___0.
It'd be flippin' awesome if I (or someone else) could make it on the game.
I just hope the music maker on LBP2 will be extremely diverse.

I'm hoping I could remake this but it's probably ridiculous xD

09-01-2010, 03:16 AM

I was hoping I could make this song. I can play this song on the piano and I think it sounds beautiful.

09-02-2010, 08:54 AM
A cover of 'Just Breathe':

the troll
09-02-2010, 04:21 PM
a lot of epic creepy music and one song about the troll lol

09-03-2010, 05:49 AM
The troll? 0_o

You mean yourself?

nice costume (:

09-04-2010, 10:06 PM
I'm also hoping to try my hand at chip tunes!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAnFLgThTgo) (wasn't an 8bit instrument confirmed?) :D

That's gonna' be so ace. If the music editor does truly take over my life like i'm thoroughly counting on then I will be taking requests for level music so long as your levels suitably epic enough :D

09-07-2010, 02:26 AM
Here's a list of some of the types of music I'd like to create:

Ambient music
Chiptune (8-bit)
Dark ambient music
Dark gothic music
Hard Rock

I just don't know where to start...

Here's some of my inspirations:
Berserk OST (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlAa1A967FQ)
Devil May Cry 3 OST (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-KlzfV8_DI)
Flower OST (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n-UpQJ6gRI)
Katamari Damacy OST (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_suLF-Qy5U)
Pikmin OST (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esYm9q-bi4w)
PixelJunk Eden OST (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgkODdJi6lk)
X Japan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0Gp05yk4fs) [Chiptune]

09-07-2010, 02:01 PM
i might be VICTORIOUS :royalty:
EDIT: old video was not the full song, here is the full song.

09-08-2010, 10:30 AM
:p I had a little sackmin in mind awhile back, my attempt to make it in lbp 1 has failed, in lbp 2 i will win, i was the first to make a pikmin tutorial using jack jack wig for stem so it looks so realistic.

That is just a demonstration  .

09-10-2010, 02:20 PM
Orange is my favorite color and guess what...

I plan on making this as well :)

09-11-2010, 01:53 AM
cheetahmen 2 theme.

because im not a "failed expirement".

09-12-2010, 11:12 AM
This is the song I'll try to recreate

09-12-2010, 04:52 PM
@nightmare729 thats actually most easiest song to recreate, it's only 2-4 pattern long (depends how you will divide it)with 2 piano tracks and 1 pad, it should be piece of cake if you find notes (and you should find i know Squere Enix sells full books with notes from there game songs, not forgetting tons of MIDI files around internet)

Yea that song is awesome

09-12-2010, 05:01 PM
I will make songs that fit my level theme.

09-12-2010, 05:31 PM
I'll probably end up making strong, orchestraic music with dramatic cymbal crashes and large build-ups, all accompanying the future RPG I have planned for LBP2...

It will be EPIC. :kz:

09-12-2010, 05:49 PM
I'm really looking forward to making music, might try some originals. :D

09-13-2010, 12:18 AM
@ Shadowriver I know lol it's easy and it'll match my level :D

09-13-2010, 01:11 AM
I really hope Deftmute goes back and makes some mega-man style music for Mega City. :p

That video on sackinima was awesome. I didn't think the music editor would be that awesome.

09-13-2010, 02:26 AM
Some themes from Kingdom Hearts..and Detective Conan. I hope they have viola.

09-13-2010, 01:27 PM
If we're talking about LBP2, I'll obviously make Bionic Commando music for my Bionic Commando level.
I'll add big LBP cuteness on music that It won't be same like in exact game.

I bet this tune is little hard to make because it's too awesome to handle. :o

09-14-2010, 07:44 AM
I'll probably just make a few neat rhythms, add some other stuff to it and call it homemade music! i'll go for some kinda funky almost classical ones at first moving on to other stuff as my (slightly) musically creative mind implodes with the sheer force of lbp2's music creation... I like it.

10-04-2010, 03:45 AM
If they have separate tracks, velocity adjustment, basic EQ, editing/chopping, and some basic FX, I think I'll go nuts...

10-04-2010, 11:33 AM
What they need in LBP2 are some breakbeat samples and some decent guitar samples. At the moment all the music I've heard sounds very electronic and synthesised, and the guitar sounds are as bad as MIDI guitar. Throw in some real drums and some real guitar chords and we'll be able to create great music in LBP2.

Am I correct in saying that voice recording is not in the beta? Because adding our own vocal samples would be brilliant, so long as we're not limited to using only the PSEye... also I hope the sounds we can record will be flexible in that we can activate them with switches and sequencers etc. - so far all that has been referenced is the ability to use them to narrate cutscenes.

10-04-2010, 01:05 PM
This is my goal, lol. Im going to try to recreat the ENTIRE song.....(It's probably going to take me all year seeing that im not that musically inclined ;) )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOJ91H4mraU (Sorry, I can't figure out how to embed on forums)

10-04-2010, 02:55 PM
I will be making the music from Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, if anyone cares.

10-04-2010, 03:07 PM
I was always into the action-movie-orchestra-style music myself, so I hope the music sequencer is flexible enough to do something like that!
If you don't know what I'm talking about (though most probably do), think of the fast-paced music from Uncharted/Halo/God of War/etc, and the title theme of Castle Crashers (still can't get it out of my head! :P)
