View Full Version : Level Icons Tutorial

Hi guys,

Well, I'm just going to jump right in here. We all know that, (no matter how cool he is) Mr. Molecule as a level icon isn't going to get many plays. If your level icon is good, then it reflects on your ability as a creator to the people searching for levels to play.
1) go into create mode on a blank level then sketch out the title of you level with a material (it doesn't matter how bad it is)
2) put a background behind it that complements to the title (i'll put a list below)
3) use the corner editor to smooth out the title
4) sticker it to make it look nice
5) change to front view (this makes the colors stand out and makes the image sharper) take a picture and leave some room on the outside so that people can read the title.



Complementary colors---------------
Black --> White
Blue --> Yellow
Green ---> Purple
Red --> Teal
Everything always looks good with black behind it though (except very dark colors)

You'll probably need to give people advice about how lighting changes when you take a picture, and how the positioning of the picture on the level icon works as well. :/
Also, about how much of the picture is visible, etc.

Uh.... yeah, it's an okay tutorial. Can you upload some pics of some logos you made using the method? I have my own method if you want me to tell you it.

Attached below is a color wheel. Pick your color and the color opposite is the complementary color. :)

remember to turn down the fog ALL the way to the left << so the pics look better :D
