PS3 Spotlight

The River Styxgigglecrab/gigglecrabhttp://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=25928&d=1288277026An atmospheric, action-packed platformer with an eerie mood and memorable scenery.

Atmosphere is the trick here, mood lighting appropriately set to draw you in to the bowels of hell, suggested detour: The River Styx. Bask in the warm red glow of your certain death as you bound gaps towards your confrontation with the greek god of the underworld! While the River Styx doesn't come to mind as one of the most fantastic of places to visit, this level by Gigglecrab does a great job creating an atmosphere you'll want to immerse yourself into. The spacious and artistic use of 3D along with the eroded architecture and eerie lighting make for a memorable take on this unique location. The plethora of hidden bubbles, tricky game play and final grudge match against Lord Hades brings this level together as a package that really deserves to be checked out!In this new level by Gigglecrab, you immediately stumble into a dilapidated cave full of ruins and bobbing rocks. You'll be on your toes as you hop in fright over every deep chasm. As you are running to your escape make sure to snatch some bubbles because they are hiding around every corner. Much to your dismay, you'll most likely lose many of your points during the trick boss fight with Hades! To top it all off, there is a secret (okay... there is a sign) x2 area at the end of the level behind the scoreboard. All the reason to drag along another happy gadder!

Mystic Oak 2Brandamann/brandamannhttp://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g381/Brandamann/APhoto.jpg?t=1288471235More challenges await your sack in the mist. Can you survive this beautiful yet unforgiving environment?

With some really gourgeous set piece, Brandamann has created a joyful little gad on this giant tree. This level is the perfect length expedition but you'll hardly notice as you jump and swing, you'll wish it went on longer. Heres to hoping for a third installment :PIt's very rare that someone can take the visuals of MediaMolecule and put their own special twist on them. That's just what Brandamann has done, whilst packing in plenty of solid platforming and some clever layer-changing obstacles. Underwater puzzles and flowery platforms alike, everything is polished and decked out in the traditional LBP style.Brendamann's return to this great tree is mystical indeed! Filled with cheery and colorful visuals, lots of exciting platforming elements and offering a lengthy adventure, this level is a joy to play and shouldn't be overlooked!

Concealed in DarknessDan930930/Dan930930http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/ss258/daneeyul/APhoto_24.jpgA "Wedding" themed level. Made for Halloween/El Dia de Muertos. A long, spooky, platformer. Please check it out, i would like everyone to enjoy this level!

Over the last two weeks I've noticed an abundance of dark levels with nice lighting, but none are darker or more supremely lit than this little experience crafted lovingly by Dan930930. Lifting the style of Mm's wedding section with a few thematic tweaks, Dan has provided us with a fiendishly tricky platformer with many blind jumps and hidden spikey floors. Watch your step with this one. Out of all the Mm level themes out there, the 'weddings' theme seems to be the one the least used by the community. Dan930930's level fixes that by offering a great platformer in a perfectly realized Mm style! It's great platforming and visual design make this feel like a very professional level that's a ton of fun!A spooky level... using the wedding materials none the less! Mm would be proud as Dan930930 captures their style with the flowing corners and the beautiful lighting. Candles and spikes adorn the level which gives it some nice ambiance and strikes a bit of fear into sackboy!

PSP Spotlight

Halloween Hallow ShipSpark151/Spark151
http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac207/tross13/Spotlights/PSP%20Spotlight%2052/2010-11-06-002.jpgThere once was a ship filled with ghosts... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2prWm5ynHBo

I lazily missed out on giving Spark151 feedback when this level was in its beta stage and still haven't got around to offering him my unreserved apologies. So, let me say now that this is a truly remarkable level that offers quality gameplay throughout and an excellent boss encounter. However, it cannot be left unsaid that where this level really stands out is in its extraordinary intro, which is not only a wonder of technical wizardry, but also extremely stylish visually.Think Halloween is over? Think again! Spark brings us a stunningly spooky and wickedly fun tale full of amazing visuals, killer gameplay, and ghostly adventure. This spiritual successor to R.I.P. Sack comes with all the signature awesomeness we've grown to expect from one of LBP PSP's best creators. Trick or treat! Spark151 brings Halloween back in style with his latest offering to the LBP servers. The intro to his new masterpiece is something to behold and the art design throughout the level is amazing. With Oscar-worthy camera views and some great platforming, Spark proves he is a creator on top of his game. From beginning to end this level wraps you up in a compelling story, albeit a little later than Halloween. A visually stunning level with all the effort and mechanics in the LittleBigWorld put together! Not one to miss out. Hayal DŁnyasirOckalOvEer x73/indie_r3cords
http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac207/tross13/Spotlights/PSP%20Spotlight%2052/2010-11-06-001.jpgThe great Mushaboom, protector of this mystical world, has a terrible ill, and it's your duty to save him and the entire world of Hayal DŁnyasi. Explore a beautiful world, dance with colorful mushrooms, and beat the dark wind before it finishes everything we know. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaHAMHCewww

I can't pretend that I had a full understanding of what was going throughout this level, and yet I could not help but appreciate its sheer beauty. From the striking chiarascuro mushroom forest to the slightly trippy pink flower world... place, Hayal DŁnyasi absolutely oozes visual panache, and exceptional attention to detail. This is also up there as a contender for best level title scene. Brilliant work.Wow! Right from the very beginning you'll know you're playing something different, and it only gets better as you go. The ethereal garden world of Hayal DŁnyasi will draw you in with its beauty as you work to unravel the dark mysteries lurking in the shadows. This level is something like Pixeljunk Eden combined with Oddworld, if you can get your brain around that. Just go play it!Good things come to those that wait. And I have been waiting for a new level from indie_r3cords for a while now. He is one of the most unique creators in LBP. His new level is amazing from start to finish. Mind-blowing puzzles and beautiful environments with wonderful gameplay. This level is pure joy. Thanks Indie!! Sometimes a level has great visuals. This level is far above them as it delves into a very weird mind and pulls out a fantastic visual experience. It's one of those levels you really need to see to believe.Shoop Da WhoopCyberSora/CyberSora
http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac207/tross13/Spotlights/PSP%20Spotlight%2052/1pv19g.jpgShoop Da Whoop knows all. Sees all. Is all. But can all laws of Shoop Da Whoop be broken? Will you be able to defeat the greatest thing of all time? Probably not.... IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZER! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTlBhTvAgNk

I would like to heap gushing praise on every aspect of every level that comes up for spotlight. I don't, because generally I am too lazy or forgetful to leave comments at all. However, the reason I can't do so for this level is that, really, its based on possibly the single worst internet meme I have ever seen. It shouldn't be good, but it is, because what CyberSora has done is to take a potentially catastrophic concept and execute it in the form of a really rather wonderful boss battle. It's challenging, technically very slick, well designed and, most importantly, very fun to play. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmPmIJyi0scFrom the very beginning, I will say: Huh? The funny thing is though, I don't mind at all. This level is so well made and so darned fun, I just can't stop playing it. Dangerously addictive boss battle mayhem is a true joy to play over and over, and CyberSora's corner editing is simply superb. It is very, very unlikely you will ever play another level exactly like this one. Rule #698: CyberSora is awesome.Cyber Sora has concocted one of the most extraordinary boss fights I have ever witnessed. How many times have you went toe to toe with a huge set of lips with a laser blaster? The logic behind the scenes of this must be impressive, since I have no idea how Sora did 90% of the level. Epic is a word that gets thrown into boss fight descriptions too much, but when I play this, it is the first thing that come to my mind. That, and Chapstick. It's crazy. But that suits the theme and stylings of this great level from CyberSora, and it's the awesome boss fight that makes this level what it is - ridiculously fun. Played everything in the PSP Spotlight and still looking for more?

Is it me? Or are the spotlights getting smaller to the point of just 1 level per spotlight? :(

Hope LBP2 gets here before the spotlight is reduced to spotlighting survivals to stay alive lol

I think it's a credit to the Spotlight Crew that they've not lowered their standards because of the recent dips in production volume. Well done, guys - keep it up!

I would really like to know if you tried my level in this spotlight. It was a PSP level, The Cat Tyrant. Please let me know, I spent a lot of time on that level I wonder why it wouldn't even get into the stood out but not spotlighted. I posted it last night so you probably missed it.

Please send me a PM about this because I don't visit here often and I don't even know where this post is going.

Good job to all the spotlighted levels btw. :)

Oh, we tried hard alright. We play through every level! :D It's actually even easier what with the beta taking all the levels from us!

Also, the level thread you posted was three days ago, which means we haven't gotten to it yet! Remember, the cutoff is Wednesday at midnight. Should be on the list for us to play-through for next time! ;)

...what? "LBPC: the Game"? No, doesn't ring a bell. ;)
