Queston about stickers and Red "X"'s

So i played LBP all the way through and never really got a hang of finding the right sticker and placing it on screen to drop more sticker/accessory bubbles. I had a hard time finding which ones should go where and seemed like a waste of time but i did it.

Now in LBP 2 i see these areas again where i should be adding stickers to walls and such. Problem is, when i installed game it imported everything from LBP1 and now when i open the popit there are what seems like hundreds to sort through. Is there are easier or correct way to know which shape I should be placing? Really annoying. thanks for any insight on this.

2) Am I supposed to be doing something with the floating red X that shows up on the levels? seems to be under a light or something. Seems they are there for a reason, but cant figure them out either.

1 - IF you have the sticker(s)to unlock these areas, they'll show at the top of the stickers area, no need to look for them, if none show, just means you don't have them.

2 - That's the Power-up removeer, its to force the player out of the Paintinator/ Creatinator/ Grabbinator/ Grappling hook/ Jetpack/ etc.
