Controllinatored Sackbots who can grab?

How do i get a controllinatored sackbot to grab. The game doesn't seem to let me grab anything with a controlled sackbot. I would really appreciate it if someone could teach me how to make this work. I would simply like to be able to press R1 to grab materials that should be grabbable.

If you override the sackbot with a controllinator, it should emulate grabbing just fine.

Thats what I thought but for some reason it won't either with grabbinator or not
