(The draw is just a general idea of the level, itĎll likely look nothing like this in the end)

Yo Howdy you all~
Hey does anybody here remember my beta level (Forgotten tower of White dimension)??
Well Iím taking a break from working on the story for my level series,
( I just canít seem to get in the mood to write right now) So Iím gonna go ahead and
make a new version of my beta level. But made for better with far more stuff~
Iím going to make it a lot bigger and make it somewhat like tower of whoop, but am thinking
of other things too like hidden mini games (hopefully better then in my first towerís mini game)
And more spooky ghost like characters, more and better puzzles and maybe a Boss?
Yeah Iím not so sure about a boss too. The first level just had FF7 music but I may make my own music
This timeÖ Iím not sure, not like I ever done music much beforeÖ

I may do a town in the level too.... like i said the level will be much more big then the first.
So I'm going to be thinking up a lot of fun ideas if i can.

So what do you guys think? Iíd like some ideas that be fun for the level.
So toss me any ideas you'd think fit good with the level, and feel free to ask away~ *mew

Also hereís a video by Cog of the first tower level I made:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBc-4iEYgzE

Update!
gonna get back to working on this after the long break I been taking from it.
Idea help and help in general is very welcomed!

Hey Fumetsusozo, I remember playing your level in beta. Had a cool look (I'm a sucker for carboard-worlds ;-) and some really nice obstacles. Also liked the little fellows you could catch.

You should do a remake, and include a town: that would be very cool.

yeah it'll be done after the general idea of the first one, but will be lot better and far longer of a level.
umhm I'll for sure have more people you can grab for points.
in the end the level will be far different then the first xD
and yes I'll make sure to bring back the exploding boxes plus hopefully more fun stuff. :p *mew

Neh no one will be able to create with me very much as i create offline
plus i don't know what I'm going to do with the music or not yet.
I'll try to see if i can make it my self first, just because trying out new things is fun.
but if I'm no good at it i most likely just get music from a level, minds well as
that's why they made the music levels to start with. but i really don't know yet.
this is just a fun project for me, i don't really need helpers for this one.
but thanks for the offer~ *mew

PS: i may change my mind by the time i get to the music.
i normally add music and sounds last when making a level.

I never had the beta, but this sounds and look very ineresting. Seeing as this is going to be a major overhaul, I think some cool multiple path sections would be nice. I love the moving platforms you had in the beta, those could be built on and made into a sort of unstable platform challenge. Some cool lighting effects like crossing multiple spotlights would be pretty neat. Also rotating sponges might be cool, don't know if they would fit the scenery buy hey it's your choice :p Maybe have a section where you climb a slowly crumbling building? I like where you are going witht this project looking forward to it :D

thanks man and them are some nice fun ideas you said there.

multiple path sections? sounds good I'll try to add that.

moving platforms? yes there will be lots, just in case you did not notice
the whole building moved left to right slowly, I'll be putting that to more use far as game play goes this time.

crossing multiple spotlights? hmm not bad I'll have to think how that fit in the level
but sounds fun anywho.

rotating sponges? I'm not sure on this one. i may or i may not,
depends on if i think of a good idea for it or not.

crumbling building? oh yes that's a cool idea I'll try to fit that in for sure~

also as I'm sure you saw in the first level i put the background fog on a sequencer
so it'd slower go in and out, was a fun trick making the user have to stop for a bit here and there
in order to see where he is going good. *mew

Well I'm not sure if this level will have a story... the only people there are like ghosts...
something other worldly... so i plan on them Not talking. but far as a story... i may..I'm not sure yet.
honestly it feels like last week to me i made the last tower level...
anyone should know i have a horrible sense of time, a year feels like a month to me, ETC.... :S

yeah my problem with my story for my series is not so much it's not made....
it's that i have trouble wanting to write it down.... i get lazy and just read on this forum all day
and then watch shows on the PC... Yohooho~ i have low energy when it comes to any kind of creating...
i have the skill, i can create good, but it's waste-ed a lot because i always feel worn-out...
i try to force my self to create in order to over-come it,
but it's hard with the feeling of always wanting to go sleep when i start to work on something lol.
but anyways I'll be doing my best to try to get this level here made and done.
helps that i posted it means people will be looking forward to it.
helps gives me move motivation. :) *mew

PS: Well if you really want to help with my level series's story you can, just know a lot of the story is already made
it's just trapped in my head, and you'd be helping me get it out and talking to me about things that'll also help me
remember some small details i've forget-en over time, plus help me put different story parts together,
as a lot of the story is loose concept parts... anyways i find it's always good to have someone to bounce ideas with.
so if your really interested go ahead and ask.

Sure message me and when i get the opportunity to ill reply

But yea message me the story since ill need that to work with, ill also need to know the goal of your story, the ending, etc. So include those in the message and ill work on it with you

As for this you could do the story jump_button style where in his based on ico series showed cave drawings to tell the story and such so you could do something similar

ya OK, I'll message ya.

Also what do you people think?
with multiple path sections to explore i think versus mode is good so if people bring
their friends they can explore a part from one another without having to be killed by the cam.
and even if just one player gets to the end of the level I'll make it so the others will be taken to the end
in order to make it so no one has to wait on the others in order to beat the level. *mew

me again :D i kno you said ya'll didn't need any help but i can still make suggestions (...).
-the crumbling tower sounds epic, maybe have parts falling away at various times? or maybe even an entire new part of the game, with say a menu, you can choose between just playing the normal game and racing your friends to the top whilst the game around you crumbles and obliterates.
-Multiple path sections will add a lot of replay-eyness (...) to the game make the players want to play it again and again, maybe even opening to different parts of the story or unknown parts of the tower, building, haunted house, kitten rescue facility (...)
-Making the game a versus will be... different. but also a new experience, maybe offering rewards to the players that find the most secret rooms etc?

Lord-Dreamerz
04-03-2011, 11:01 AM
stuff

no there won't be a menu with different modes.
not really the point of the level.and no it won't feel odd for the level being versus mode, as
it's just a simple way to let more then one player explore with out dieing from the cam from everyone being apart.
it's not a race or anything really,
(i may add a race-mode later but that could be hard to put in, so it's only a maybe for now)
and the crumbling tower will just be a small part of the rest of the level, but i will make it epic enough,
so don't worry. also again there is no clear story in this level. this level right here is not the level series
i was talking about in my other post just in case i confused anyone .
the only story that'll be in this level will be more or less a mystery,
it'll leave you wondering what was going on. kinda like Ico or Shadow of the Colossus,
but maybe with even less words then they used :p and Yoho~ you said haunted house?
the whole level is suppose to feel somewhat like a ghost town already. *mew

Little problem with VS mode.
i was hoping to use it so everyone had their own game cam so they could explore apart.
but i had forgot Vs mode makes all life gates random.... don't work in this type of level.

So now it's come down to 1 of theses 2 options.
1: players are sackbots.
2: normal cam that kills players when they go to far apart from the others.

I'm gonna try #1 i guess. but I'm a little disappointed I'll have to use bots,
as that was not my first idea for this level, but i guess it'll be fine.

now the question is to make the bots look like the players?
or custom characters that matches the level theme?
*mew

Shadowcrazy

Cant you just use sensors on the gates to keep them off until you walk past them? And use tags and stuff? I think you can do something like that idk

I tried, believe me. not to say there is no way around it. but i sure can't tell what that would be...
they no matter what logic i put on them, they stayed on.

PS: I'll go make a help topic asking about it.

update: Yep I'm pretty sure i have to use bots.
as everyone needs their own life gates too. and that's I'm pretty sure is
Impossible with out them being bots. well alwell. least now i can disable everyone's
popit so they can't mess with the stickers in the level, ETC.

Haha the level is taking me more long then i was hoping
but i've took a long break for a while from it, So no surprise really...

Anyways, The costumes in the level ended up taking almost 3 bars of my thermometer
So I'm gonna most likely have to break my level in two levels when I'm done...

But Here's what i wanna ask, Will A level link disconnect the players from one another?
i've heard there was some problem with that with other people's levels...
but I'm not sure what else i should do? the level is set up so once the players are there,
No one else can join in the gameplay a short bit after the level starts... (>.>)

Wow! That's quite a lot of decorations you're using if you take up that much. :)

But Here's what i wanna ask, Will A level link disconnect the players from one another?
From my understanding, the level link usually disconnects online players if the next level is close to overheating when published. It may or may not have to do with each player's download speed, but there have been cases where I haven't been able to invite someone due to "my level overheating" despite the fact it's someone else's level. :/ I haven't taken the liberty to ask each creator if their levels were in fact close to overheating though, so my observation may not even be right. :p

Not really... It just somehow worked out that way xD
But yeah here what they look like if you want to see why they may have took up so much room.

Well as I'm making them in to two levels they should not take up more then 60% of the thermometer once
i do that later. But i need to make sure A level link will work so...hmm i need to know how it works for sure.

Does Nowhere require at least two players to be able to finish the level? Even when they get separated through the level link, players can still go through the rest of the level; it's just that they'll be by themselves... if it does happen. :)

when the level starts there are 4 bots players can enter but once the level truly starts
all bots that don't have players in them get destroyed. and if people join after that,
they'll only be able to watch. and yes the level for reasons needs to be set up that way.

no you don't need more then one player to play the level :)
but because of the setup it is more fun with friends if you ask me.

those guys look familiar with their black appearance and neon eyes ;)
Well they were just suppose to look spooky and other worldly/ghostly :p
i was thinking of giving the players no eyes but i found somewhere else where that is needed :p
But yeah, i've always liked the kinda ICO/kingdom hearts/spooky shadow type of characters in general xD
but yes now that i think about it, i can see why you like them.

Haha yeah, it's almost always more fun to play with friends! :D But I understand the issue now. That problem with level links doesn't affect local groups, but I wish I actually knew the conditions of splitting two online players. :/ Good luck with the project despite! ^^

I'm also likin' those "no eyes." ;D

Yeah Sorry this level been taking me so long. But I'm a rotten slow creator and keep
only working on it like 2 days a week. also it's on hold till next month because of another level I'm working on.
And it's just... the logic in Nowhere is taking me forever to make as I'm not a logic guy,
So I'm lucky I'm doing as good as I am.

Plus I been trying to think up how i want everything to look and work and that takes a while.
plus this is the first true level i been trying to get fully made for a long time
besides the other one I'm working on right now.

So again I'm not use to working fast. Sorry to everyone who'd like to see it sooner then later~ :/

Update!
Well thanks to my poll from my other topic I'll be trying to go back to work on this level again...
Problem was I kinda ran out of ideas what I wanted to do with it... I mean...
I know in general what I want for the level... but not in detail...
plus the Logic was taking me forever... bloody mini games...

well I do have some new ideas to try out now.
so hopefully I can work on this level and get it done without taking to long...

But any help from you people is welcomed.
General ideas, logic, gameplay ideas. Music.
and whatnot. *mew
