View Full Version : Operation: OMEGA ((LPB2 Level - In Works))

Currently i'm working on a Project I'm calling "Operation: OMEGA".
It's mainly Story-Driven but it has alot of Gameplay.
At the Moment i'm still Designing it, and the Project should take up about 20 Parts. ((1 Level = 1 Part))
Although alot of these Parts are Cinematic Only. I've been working on the Story for over 3 Months and I never got to share anything with anyone, but I guess I should first explain what it's about.

Storyline:

The Year is 2386, and Mankind is beginning its First Project to beyond the Solar System... in Secret.
Humanity is United, well most of it. A Faction of "Outcasts" that live in an Unkown Planet at the Edge of the Solar System are attacking Humanity and her Colonies. In order to Battle the Outcasts, the United Nations have dsigned a Top-Secret Project that will Destroy the Outcasts forever and boost Humanity into Outer-Space. "Operation: OMEGA". A 7.5km Long Spaceship fitted with the Most Dangerous High-Tech weaponry that anyone has Ever Seen, only one Problem though. It's Stolen, moments after Final Simulations have been Ran. The Outcasts now have the Most Destructive Piece of Technology ever... but you're gonna stop it. Agent GOLF is on his way to the A-172 Transport HUB in Orbit to get his Mission Briefing. Stop "Operation: OMEGA" from causing anything Drastic and get it back. This is "Operation: OMEGA", The End of the World.

Anyway, here is a Snippet from the Storyline.

Part 5: The Weapon Factory (December 9th , 2386) (Just Before Midnight)

A Tactical Stealth Bomber is seen flying just out of the Earths Atmosphere.
The Bomber releases 5 MOAB’s in the form of a Missile. A view of the Factory shows a Large amount of Explosives, and Intense structural damage. At the Back of the Bomber, Golf is seen parachuting out of the Back Hatch, and into the Factory‘s Cooling Tower. Golf manages to climb through a large Hole at the Bottom of the Tower, and makes it onto the Roof of the Factory. Golf takes out his ‘Hotel-Lima’ and runs right, through a mass of Fiery Vents and Panicked Security Guards. When Golf makes it to the End of the first building, a Small Meltdown occurs and a Shockwave causes the Building to Explode from the Inside-Out. Golf jumps off the Building in time, as he lands in a Cooling Mechanism, which is used to cool the Nuclear-Reactors that are used to make the Weapons.

Wow, that sounds awesome. Losing a 50km long spaceship is quite a feat.

18 parts!?! Good luck!

I suggest making a single part, seeing how it goes, and then continuing from there. Also, 18 is, well, a little much. You're going to find it nearly impossible to make quality levels 18 times in a realistic time-frame.

Well, I got alot of Time on my Hands. Besides alot of the Parts are Cinematics, so that will make alot of it Easier.
At the Moment i'm writing up the Boss battle and drawing up the Different Segments. Once I get started on the Series, i'll fly through it. It might end at around 21-22 Levels :)

Heh, I just looked at Google Earth and realised that you would be able to see a 50km Spaceship from WAY out of Orbit. Heh, Fail.
So, I reduced it down to 7.5km, looks alot more Realistic. :p

Don't forget that a 7.5km ship is a lot more professional too. I think this idea is excellent, but I have to agree with SSTAGG1 (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/member.php?13137-SSTAGG1) that making this by yourself is a big feat (however, your "The Mercenary" (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?58115-quot-The-Mercenary-quot-Strategic-Top-Down-Shooter-(Any-ideas-)) level looks like a big feat also). I suggest you have a team of people to help (as in some people to assist you, or people who do different parts of the development e.g. Music/Score, Logic, Character Development etc.) I think this is a great idea, and I will be able to help you with the storyline. I also suggest that you give a detailed description of the characters, and also make a Beta so other people can test the logic, and see part of the story to give feedback, whether it's positive or constructive criticism.

Okay, i'm currently Designing the Final Part. "Part 20: The Final Fight". Since I think there is a 20 Level Cap. for Levels. ((Not sure if it Applies for Sub-Levels, if it doesn't then THANK GOD! xD)) So.. my Problem is trying to Squeeze in the Final Cinematic... Ouch!

not trying to discourage or anything, but why does everyone have to use omega? I mean, I made a level called 'Omega Metropolis', there's a user named 'Omegaslayer' or something like that, I recall playing a level called 'Omega city'... there are plenty more letters in the greek alphabet.

now I'm over that, this level series sounds pretty promising :D

I dont know? Maybe it just sounds so Epic? Seriously just say the word. xD
