What begins as a simple jaunt through Mover town quickly descends into utter mayhem as you twist and hop your way through Nick930930's latest masterpiece. Simply walking in front of a switch causes sections of the level to completely switch places (hence the name...) leading to ever more difficult puzzles and frantic attempts to get through! Fantastic fun, and certainly worthy of this spotlight! If your looking for some platforming fun, try out Switcheroo, by Nick930930.This level will test your skills, while you learn how to "switch" your way through! Don't miss this amazing platformer!!Switcheroo is a fantastic and frantic platformer. The mechanic has the level flipping inside out once you jump past lights of corresponding colour. This makes for some very puzzling gameplay that is still fast paced and fun. Very fresh and inventive gameplay makes this one I really think you should check out.

http://ia.lbp.me/img/bl/1aa7aec439ec598d7857e19a8b2fb5de241aa7c0.png(LBPC1 ) Wu Tsung SkySLS10Journey through Wu Tsung Sky, where everything is upside-down, Chinese dragons and contraptions block your way, and flat platforms are impossible to find! Admire the lights and the high winds as you grab, bounce, and grapple your way to destiny!

This is one of those levels that give you a warm fuzzy feeling when you reach the scoreboard. Finding your world literally turned upside down, you grapple and bounce your way through spikes, fire-breathing kimono dragons and death defying drops into the outer reaches of space. Stunning visuals and smooth, intuitive, and yet challenging gameplay means that this is an entry to the first LBPC Crown Contest which holds its head high! Or low... what would it be in an upside down world? SLS10 brings us a tricky yet fun oriental trial. A great contender in the LBPC1 contest that will have you swinging and bouncing to victory.. or doom. With secrets and a time completion challenge there's plenty of replay value. Then to top that off there's an addictive catchy backing track that really captures the oriental mood. Be sure to give this a play if you think you're up to the challenge! This level had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! Wu Tsung Sky, uses the grappling hook, and bounce pads brilliantly! This level isn't for the faint of heart though. It will test you the whole way through! Do you have what it takes?!?Wu Tsang Sky ticks all the boxes. Brilliant gameplay? Check. Exhilarating visuals? Check. Innovative time trial? Check. Massive fun full of replay value? Check check and check. This is one level you ought not to miss. You could literally say it turned my world upside down.

http://i7.lbp.me/img/bl/297b2ad418a2d4979f6909561514dd9ce6425c94.pngThe Celestial City - The Outskirtsbonner123Hidden in the skies lies a fantastic city floating aimlessly above the clouds. Visual based level with basic gameplay - Grab the red moons for points! Take lots of pictures :)

Bonner123 has created a stunning world, packed with minute details, which begs to be played. Vine-strewn buildings and abandoned homes lay waiting to be discovered by any sackfolk willing to take time out of their busy lives and give this level a whirl!Let me get this straight, this level is amazing. Bonner123 presents a beautiful city packed with detail in every corner. When you play this, you'll have a hard time keeping your jaw up.Why not visit this gorgeous floating city, full of some of the most detailed visuals I've seen. The Celestial City is a challenging, but beautiful level! Don't miss it!!This may be a tried and tested theme but Bonner123 easily makes it seem fresh and new. Wonderful details, achingly beautiful buildings and that is only the icing on the cake! With the gameplay providing that delicious round base with a jammie center. Mmm.
http://i9.lbp.me/img/bl/fd9d558b887ac9d3266b6baa3fce1c4e414e436a.pngFroota loot: A Strategic Matching GameOompahNeed a steady-paced strategy/puzzle game? Then this is for you! Has achievements with 10 stylish trophies to collect, and you can listen to any of the 29 music tracks in the game! It's a little laggy to begin with, but it gets much better as you play. Also: disco lights - yay!

Give me a matching game and watch me turn into a blithering idiot. I love these things. Frootaloot takes the popular gem matching formula, brings it kicking and screaming into LBP, beats it into submission and allows us to watch as it blooms into a stunning creation all of its own. Filled with simple fun, and in my case at least, enough of an addictive charm to keep me coming back for more!Take this delightful level along with your 5-a-Day fruit salad to lunch as you gobble up all those tasty gameplay treats. Is it a lemon? Is it a grape? No of course not, it's a fantastic matching game that deserves all your attention! Silly. It's not like I was going to say it was a tomato.Frootaloot is an incredibly well polished matching game. If you like games such as bejeweled you're in for a treat. But with a limited amount of fruit for you to match up it becomes a whole lot more strategic. Lots of replay value if you go looking for the best possible chains hidden in there. And if you're willing to spend the time, there's even a few in game trophies for you to brag about. I feel this one really deserves more attention, go play it!

http://i9.lbp.me/img/bl/ed90a2382b8b01a0b17871171e6773a90e264b80.pngSunset PlateauJdsfrogVenture to a landscape affected by both nature and humanity. The stretching fields of the plateau boast serenity when the sun meets the horizon, where truly phenomenal adventures occur. Run, jump, and bound across this land to experience its natural wonder yourself!

Try this unique adventure, by Jdsfrog. With deadly plums, and tree climbing cows, how can you go wrong?!?!Jdsfrog has produced a level with an inordinate amount of charm. Sunset Plateau will take you back to the good old days, with its simplistic but pleasing platforming, cutesy and charming visuals, and a feeling that everything is going to be okay...Sunset Plateau captures that time of day oh so well, with warm lighting that changes as you progress through the level. Creating a very calm, charming and relaxing environment to run around in. The custom music really draws out that feeling too. But it's not all calm and comforting, there's plenty of ways to die so watch your step.

http://i8.lbp.me/img/bl/38850c1f1fa4096afbc861055ae55d6d1cc87c74.pngBloodS tone Saga: PART 1ElvenbaneIntroduction. Easy platforming/Creatinator use.

From the very beginning of the first level, right through to the end of the last, Elvenbane had me hooked. Where should I start? Every element of this series could be acclaimed in this review, but I'll focus on the visuals. They're breathtaking - intriguing and unexpected uses of decorations helped me to feel immersed in this incredibly detailed and realistic environment. When you reach the third level, however, Elvenbane kicks it up a notch with one of the most detailed, natural looking game characters I have ever seen on LBP. Woah. Go see for yourself. That's an order, sackthing!
Elvenbane never fails to make me wonder how he has achieved many effects. And he has done it once more in his latest epic, BloodStone Saga. This beautiful world crafted with many clever techniques is a feast for the eyes. But it's not all eye candy, there's a dark force at play and you have to stop it. Be sure to check out this fantastic series next time you're on LBP2.BloodStone Saga is simply one of the most beautiful levels I've seen. Hands down. Make sure to take time to take a run through this masterpiece! You may just get inspired!Captivating visuals will leave you speechless as you watch cherry blossoms that are falling to the ground beside such a pretty vibrant river. I'll tell you one thing, it can make you kick back and think how wonderful life is. Appreciate it, because it changes quite quickly and everything becomes as dark as a dungeon but no more as fascinating then before. I'll leave this short and sweet. Play it. Now.

http://i5.lbp.me/img/bl/g73833-ba5e6f73.pngGaia - Part 1fluxlasersProve to Gaia that you are brave enough to release the Guardian and take revenge for the damage some bad sack folk are doing to the Earth. Part 2 coming soon.

Gaia is a lady who knows what she wants. And she's asking, no, demanding that you battle your way to free the earth's guardian and prove yourself to her! well the lady is about forty feet tall - who would say no? Fluzlasers has packed this level with beautiful detail and exciting gameplay. Find your way through Gaia's trials until you reach the guardian at the end, who you have to guide back to her. I won't spoil too much as this has to be seen to be fully appreciated, but wow. That guardian is a whole can of epic just waiting to be heated up and poured over a slice of incredible! I personally can't wait for Part 2!fluxlasers has released a level that has become one of my all-time favorites. Gaia - Part 1 contains more detail than I can comprehend. I've never seen such detail on LBP. But what about the gameplay? Solid. The level's design is flawless and full of clever gameplay sequences, not to mention the truly epic guardian at the end. This is one you have to play. It will leave you stoked for Part 2.Gaia simply blew me away. Enough said!

http://ia.lbp.me/img/bl/61ac7a4355fbf62ba7fa3af9685db573074b1088.pngLBR-01 Russias Greatest Three & The EVIL Kleptomaniac Puppeat! 1LordMagicPantsPart 1 - LittleBig Russia creators are in trouble! A mysterious crafted figure is stealing others creations with no remorse! These three creators need your help!

LordMagicPants has a certain flare in create mode, which always shines through in his levels. His visual style is unlike any other, his gameplay ideas are challenging, fun and well executed, and his stories... Well, let's just say that here is a creator who isn't afraid to weave an intriguing and humorous plot. The beginning of his new mini series is bound to please you, considering its polished presentation, fun platforming and inventive use of powerups. I love that big puppet! This level is crazy! Brilliant story, gameplay, and platforming, had me totally immersed in this fantastic level!LordMagicPants has created a Russian themed extravaganza! Some great character designs and sticker work really bring that out, couple that with the fun gameplay and whimsical story, you've got yourself a great little series. Be sure to give this a try for something different, you don't see this theme very often in the world of LBP, and done well.

http://i1.lbp.me/img/bl/3818209d41d56b29b6c2ee1d25fdfb4db26f4626.pngShady FunctionsLuos_83Shady people dropped you into a shady canyon where shady things are going on... -- A shady silhouette level with LBP1 style gameplay -- Medium to Hard -- A costume with lights can be handy!

There are some creators in LBP who promise a great all-round experience. From intricate, beautiful visuals and immersive environments to innovative, exciting gameplay, and Luos_83 never fails to disappoint. Shady Functions is a wonderful showcase of his abilities, guarunteed to delight you with his return to good old fashioned platforming. So pop on your brightest outfit and head on over to investigate the shady business going on in the canyon!Luos_83 has put out another winner with Shady Functions. This level is masterful in gameplay design, and visuals. It's chocked full of crazy mechanical mechanisims to platform your way through! See if you have the skills to navigate through this masterpiece!Wow. What extraordinary work Lous_83 has managed to pull off. It almost feels surreal with a stylish visual design and astonishing gameplay work that leaves you scratching your head, wondering how time passed like clockwork. To sum it up, just a brilliant superb level. I will now leave you contemplating with one final word. Shady.

http://ic.lbp.me/img/bl/8eca9bac4eeed148decfd18a2ab9f5b6fd7fcc30.pngJet StrikeJayhawk_erCustomize the ultimate jet and use your mighty selection of weapons to clear the skies! With 81 jet combinations, powerups, and cheats, Jet Strike offers a much more versatile and diverse game than nearly any other. Look around my planet for more possible cheat codes. Thanks!

There are a few genres of game which usually entertain me, and a straightforward shooter is one. Jayhawk_er has succeeded in creating an addictive and fun shooter in Jet Strike, but then taken things to the next level - He's only gone and added ship customisation! The real boon to this feature is that it really makes a difference to the feel of the level - differences in thruster and weapon choices, to name but a few of the many options, really do change the way you play! An awesome addition to your queue - go check it out!Jayhawk_er has managed to create one of my favourite shoot 'em up survival challenges in LBP2. The level boasts some great replay value with it's unique customisation at the start. Each play through feels different if you mess around with the various settings. If that's not enough there's also a few cheat codes hidden around his earth and in comments that add an extra laugh. Truly a pleasure to play, give this one a shot if you're a fan of the genre.

http://ie.lbp.me/img/bl/cee80f3a6476381f28152d6aa7a02e1ce05655cb.pngThe Heist: PreparationsFrozen50Chapter 2 in Jack Sackington's latest adventure! Time to head back to Henry's for preparations. Like what? Paperwork maybe. (One player only) (Square button to interact with environment)

You may remember the prologue of this series from the nod section in our last episode. We now follow with the glory of a full spotlight for Frozen50's intriguing story! This addition sees the main character begin training to rob the museum - fight your way through an obstacle course designed to hone your abilities as a burglar! Great fun, with intuitive gameplay and a unique graphic style, please do dedicate some of your playtime to this level!Have you ever wondered what it takes to pull off a heist? Well here's your chance to find out! Frozen50 has created another great entry in his Heist series. This time your skills will be tested as you dodge a plethora of lazer beams and work your way through this series of tests. All designed to prepare you for the forthcoming heist. A fun, well designed level I think you all should give a try.If you feel like causing some mischief, try out The Heist: Preparations. Frozen50 has done a wonderful job of putting together this series of heist levels. Get prepared for the big job in this training course. Just make sure you don't get caught! For one moment, I felt like I was in Reservoir Dogs. Which I can tell you is a pretty good achievement in it's own right. Excellent level design, intriguing plot and fun fun fun all round! What's not to like?

http://i2.lbp.me/img/bl/542dcbfbaa722ffc4027adcf01c9b93e2eadc4e3.png(Conta inment) nightshade94123Containment is a fully featured shooter in LBP. It features several game modes, well designed graphics and original music. Load up the arcade mode for classic top down madness, Increasingly inventive enemies and weapons, and high score challenges along with unlimited lives! After Arcade mode, check out the challenge grid and try to win prizes from the level.

Nightshade94123 takes a standard twin stick shooter, adds a sprinkle of humour and a whole bucket of polish to produce Containment - a shooter with a twist. In addition to fending off hordes of merciless enemies, you are tasked with finding viruses in the level and, well, containing them! This provides you with an additional bonus and speeds you through the levels. Add to this the fact that you have not only one, but two game modes, and a helpful tutorial, and this level is really a complete game rather than a single level! It plays just like a flash game (you know, the good ones) - simple mechanics, speedy gameplay, and polished graphics combining to create a glorious piece of addictive action.I found myself laughing, throwing my controller at the cat, to being full of happiness and satisfaction THEN falling into a deep depression. And all I was doing was playing this delightful level made by Nightshade! In essence, it is a top down shooter as you ka-pow! your enemies here, there and well, everywhere. But there are other surprises in store as Ria has pointed out above including capturing viruses for an extra large portion of points! Also, every 5000 of these points you get will garner another weapon power up that is sure to up your arsenal to the max. There is nothing I can really add apart from finally recommending this level to all you lovely people out there. You won't regret it.Now this is a twin stick shooter I think everyone should play. From the highly polished tutorial to the games several modes. There is a lot of things to do. And what starts out as a slow shooter quickly ramps up the difficulty as you level up and progress through it. Some great custom music in there too makes it a real joy to play, this really does feel like a whole game contained within LBP2. And it has a fun little story to go along with it, I think this level.. game has everything! Do not miss this, a real gem that deserves more attention.

http://i9.lbp.me/img/bl/2d9d82ae92c5af2a6818619b3fcd6de8e877504f.pngNeon Facility (LBPC1)Holguin86Can you help the little owner of this sky-high facility? There isn't a floor though, so that might pose a problem. | LBPCentral.com | LittleBigPlanetarium.com

Holguin86 has produced yet another level to be proud of, with his entry to the LBPC Competition. Neon Facility combines the ever popular Grappling Hook with innovative platforming and visuals so slick you'll be picking your jaw up from the... err... lack of a floor! Top it all off with a challenging Boss fight over a cloud-filled chasm and you have the recipe for an unforgettable experience!Holguin86 has done it again! Neon Facility is an excellent No-Floor Platformer that is sure to please. Grapple your way across the facility avoiding obstacles and, well, the lack of floor! Be sure to play this one, it truly is an awesome level.Holguin86.. Hmm... I think that's all the recommendation you need in order to play this level.Holguin86 has created another great platformer.. not sure what to call this eh.. anti-platformer?.. Well anyway. You have to grab, swing and grapple your way through this factory filled with hazards and inventive gameplay. This is another great entry for the LBPC1 contest that's set to give you some fresh gameplay. On top of that it looks great so it's got the whole package, don't miss it.

Backlog Spotlights

This episode, our Backlog Spotlights range from the 17th of February to the 20th of February. The backlog crew have now managed to play through a third of the list! Considering that list is about 1600 levels long, this is no mean feat. We once again thanks our volunteers for their hard work and dedication. So now, without further ado...

http://ic.lbp.me/img/bl/fdc98363d1c6566f128e57f588db363e57170002.png[1P game] Lockpick's MazeLuos_83[1P Max!! - Hard puzzle & gameplay game] Being stuck in a nightmare is one thing, being stuck in a maze as well is something totally different.. Help Lockpick by rotating the maze around him! [Music by Skalio- & Asbestos101] (walktrough tutorial on Youtube, search for Lockpick's Maze]

Easy, easy now, don't go too fast! This astounding piece of work from Luos _83 and Clay explore what happens when your sackboy loses control of those most important of limbs - his legs. You find yourself in a maze, and have to navigate your way out without moving (expect jumping and grabbing). How on earth do you do this? You move the maze of course! Incredibly innovative, challenging and truly stunning, do not pass this up!Luos and Clay prove again just how versatile they are as this level takes them in yet another new and original direction. Your task is to help Lockpick out of his nightmare – a huge revolving maze riddled with passageways and plenty of nooks and crannies to get lost in. It’s a task which will test both your dexterity and your ingenuity. Each new area of the maze poses its own different challenges from fire and electrified cogs to a giant Lockpick-crushing pendulum. But a clever scoring system lures you ever onwards until you emerge dishevelled but triumphant. Set aside a good chunk of time to play this unique and gorgeous looking level and you won’t be disappointed.

http://i5.lbp.me/img/bl/3056c74b15a53686e998040a6e8bd22442f3e29d.pngLifeGH udstonUKThe Game of Life comes to LittleBigPlanet!

The mathemetician John Conway's Life automaton recreated in LBP, with both style and accuracy! I adore the simplicity in this level's presentation. You aren't coming here for flashy over-the-top visuals, but for a one of a kind experience! Start with a simple (or complex) shape and watch it grow and evolve all by itself! I had particular fun using short words and seeing how they changed! If you’re looking for something different in LPB, then this recreation of Conway’s Game of Life may be for you. A lot of the charm of this level lies in the contrast between the simplicity of the presentation and the complexity of the concepts and logic underlying it. Making the cells wooden blocks and having them move in and out gives the machine a very satisfying and organic feel. So have some fun creating a few shapes and watching them evolve and move in patterns of infinite variety. It’s just very cool all round.

http://i2.lbp.me/img/bl/8d2863fdc14171d2fd32223bd26ad365679493b5.pngBrainw ash TV (Level 1. Intro)pomsA short history introduction before getting into the main game play level.

What did you do before you bought a PS3? In this short series of levels, Poms shows us the story of a family and their neglected television. Stylish platforming, mind-wrangling puzzles, and a light-hearted storytelling style make this a must see! With his first venture in LBP2 Poms reminds us just why he is one of the best creators out there. This series is packed with all his usual creative flair and ingenuity. In fact it’s got it all – an engaging story line, innovative gameplay and accomplished visuals. Oh yes, and you get to blow up TVs! What’s not to love.

http://i6.lbp.me/img/bl/bf6967ee5f80716a24bb5e097d60933cf014e9e1.pngDivine NaturetawarfVenture Through A Cavern Of Beauty. Platform your way till the end, Using the Grapple Hook And Grabinator! Hope you have fun!

Simplicity at its best. If you're a fan of beautiful platformers, then Tawarf's level is catered specifically for you, my friend! Stunning environments surround you as you leap and grab your way through a beautifully lit cavern. The atmosphere really drags you in!Tawarf’s best level to date. If you’re looking for some relaxing fun, spend some time swinging and jumping through these gorgeous caverns . Simple but enjoyable platforming set off with some very pretty visuals.

http://i5.lbp.me/img/bl/8c534e571f763748ef480c5d27da698cc2dbfc4e.pngStar Wars: Jedi Arts - Lightsaber Duels SehvenExperience lightsaber battles with up to three friends or against A.I. bots in an arena inspired by locations of the pivotal lightsaber duels from the films. Special thanks to Rustbukkit for the hours of testing, telling me what to keep and what sucked, and for designing the look of the boss. If anybody is curious, the A.I bots are Darth Malak from Kotor, Darth Maul, from ep1 and Darth Sehven from LBP2. Hold all 4 shoulder buttons before you spawn the first time to use the double-saber.

Ever secretly longed to wield a lightsaber against Darth Maul or fancied your chances in a duel with Vader himself? Well, this is the level for you. With intuitive controls and the ultimate in cool weapons, you’ll soon find yourself force jumping and battling like a pro. The lighting and sound effects create the perfect Star Wars atmosphere and if you have a chance to look round in the heat of the battle you’ll recognise locations beautifully recreated from the films. The logic behind this level is hugely impressive but it’s the fun of it all that you’ll remember afterwards. Appeals to the Jedi in all of us. An insanely addictive versus where lightsabers flash and jedi skills reign, Sehven's Lightsaber duels will both thrill and entertain you, whilst you hack and swish your way through both AI characters and online opponents. The option to go with a double saber is a nice touch, as we all know how much more fun a bit of saber action is when it's doubled! Grab a controller and enter, if you dare - It's highly likely that you'll leave with an injury or two!

http://i8.lbp.me/img/bl/2f81871380886a67ee0912b7dc8a14d7067520c1.pngMadnes s is an optionStinkinmushroom1 player ONLY. Twin-stick Shooter with 3 different modes! Was mmpicked and got deleted by mods for no good reason.. Sequel on the way... Soundtrack by Trashmustache. Vote your favorite song in the comments with 'POLL: songtitle', the most voted will be given in MIAO 2

Stinkin Mushroom presents what is possibly the fastest twin stick shooter I've played on LBP2 to date. Expect lashings of high-octane action as you blast your way through three different game modes (My personal favourite is Wall mode) accompanied by a stunning and exciting soundtrack. A great shooter level, more than worthy of your attention!Fast and furious – this is a genuinely action-packed twin stick shooter. Add to that some wickedly smooth controls and you have a level that’s a blast to play. The different gameplay modes and a choice of weaponry keeps things fresh and the cool soundtrack ratchets up the excitement even more. A level worthy of its MMpick.

http://id.lbp.me/img/bl/67d8ee684060f21cca61379c14bb58934908501a.pngMonste r Pinball 2smasher1116789Welcome to Monster Pinball 2!! A pinball game with a haunted theme. This table has many features including 2 seperate multiball functions, and 4 different bosses to defeat!! I want to thank Thegide for the official Bally flipper cutout. ( 1 Player Recomended, Lags bad otherwise ) ( Updated. Fixed some issues, and streamlined it a little. )

Our very own Smasher makes his return to the Spotlight with his spooky Monster Pinball 2. We've seen a lot of Pinball efforts on LBP2 since launch, but this is the first that I played with Boss Fights! Score the right hit and you will face off against a fearsome monster who has a major bone to pick with you. Visually stimulating, fast-paced gameplay and an immersive environment make this a Pinball level you cannot miss.Who’d have thought it, but mixing monsters with pinball was a masterstroke. From the fiery font at the start to the grinning skull that mocks you at gameover, the concept works brilliantly. The board itself is gorgeously Gothic but it’s not all just about the ghoulish atmosphere and haunting visuals, the gameplay is some of the best and most varied in any pinball game in LBP2. The chance for boss fights, bonus balls and multi-ball mayhem keeps you hooked to the end. Now if you’ll excuse me, I just need to go and cry about my 200,000 plus score not counting, but after all it’s the perfect reason for replaying this awesome level when the scoreboards are back online!

It's not too often you find a new concept on the Community Moon. But Silver39 delivers an excellent one that concludes his Wanderer Trilogy. Operation Sackernaut perfectly mixes a new concept with legit puzzle sequences. The difficulty of the puzzles gradually increase as does your satisfaction with the level. This is one you do not want to miss. The Wanderer Trilogy has thrown some curve balls, but this one is something completely different! You'll find the usual witty dialogue and straight-edge, clean visuals but this time it's combined with a clever gameplay mechanic. The difficulty curve is superb and you'll find yourself stumped a couple of times, only to discover later how to complete it! Genius level design, concepts and execution makes this level a must-play. This one made me very happy indeed, and it will you too.

Wooden Isles.valmassoi/valmassoihttp://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff393/valmassoilbpc/PSP%20Spotlight%2062/WoodenIsles.jpgDeep in the valley of imagination the Wooden Isles rest. Collect combos, jump, swing, climb, and survive in this little platformer. Find your way back to reality, no matter the cost.

Wow!! Now this is my kind of level. Lovely visuals with Spielberg perfect camera angles, killer bubble combos, chosen materials that would make any designer jealous, killer bubble combos, unreal sticker work, killer bubble combos, level designs that could have been made by Mm, and then there are those combos. Val proved to me a long time ago he had the chops to be a great creator, but this...... this is just showing off.Beautiful stickerwork and clever gameplay are prime examples of why we love Val here on the spotlight team this fortnight! Add to the mix the usual fun bubble collecting and corner editing and you'll still only be scratching the surface of this excellent level. A must-play as you swing and jump your way through this luscious level.

Some fantastic sounding levels there - I'm looking forward to playing the ones I've not come across. Congratulations to all the creators on the list!

Thanks to the whole Spotlight team for all their hard work! A special thanks to rialrees, though! Her energy is amazing as she not only does the current Spotlight but is pivotal to the backlog too, playing a large number of the levels and keeping us all organised as well! Without her humour and hard work, we wouldn't have got as far as we have and it certainly wouldn't have been such fun!

Wow excellent spotlight. Thanks to the crew for putting in the footwork and weeding out the duds to bring us this amazing list. I also want to congratulate my buddies. Nick930930, your of fire bro. Your getting on this list the past three episodes is very cool. I am happy to see you make the top of the list as Switcheroo is pure zany fun and I enjoyed lending a hand. LFiers, Congrats on the honorable mention. Honestly I feel you belong on the main list. Deflective Warfare is so well put together and fun with a few more maps and powerups I could see it as a stand-alone downloadable game on the PSN Store. It takes a great understanding of logic to appreciate all the nuances that this level produced. From the deflections to the scoring, it is a MASTERPIECE! **** shame that some people don't really "get" that.

Congrats to my lil bro Dan930930 for getting honorable mention for his Frozen Shaft level. I've been bugging him to publish that level for months XD

Thanks so much for appreciating the logic & nuances & for the kind words Alley_Cat. & yes the logic was quite bonkers! :p A few other people also said a similar thing to me on PSN & saying I should be on the main list. Yeah to be on the main Spotlight list for "Deflective Warfare" would've been even nicer I won't lie... Oh well. A mention is still a mention which is better than no mention at all so I'm happy. Maybe next time i'll make it to the main list. I still have my fingers crossed for "Symphony of Dissonance" to break my drought. :)

I'mma be upfront about this, but I sense favoritism from the staff spotlighting team. This has been going on since I've been a member of the site. I truly think it's very unprofessional that the other staff members are allowing this nonsense.

I say this because I know that there were other creators that deserved the spotlight more than others up there. I won't name names for now, but if you wished, I'll name them. I've been seeing members of the staff constantly getting picked as spotlights regardless if their game/level was good or not, that they were solely picked on behalf that they are their own judges and/or them having connections.

I've seen some of the worst games up there with the same genre as other creators who worked harder, yet they were overlooked because the guy who got picked is a friend of the staff, that's very unfair and again, very unprofessional. One in particular, I won't point fingers just yet, made a game that I can practically throw up in less than 24 hours put together. That game was picked over another game I've played which was at the very least 20 times better.

So I decided to backtrack, I took noticed that the creator was a good friend of the spotlight staff.... of course he'll pick his friend's game, be it good or bad. And seeing as the others follow in that same footsteps, I feel the team should be ashamed of themselves. Yeah, I speak my mind, ban me if you wished, but it only proves more that you're hiding the truth.

End the favoritism..

Holguin86
06-28-2011, 05:19 PM
Favouritism does NOT exist on the Spotlight Crew, I can tell you that now. Everyone is very impartial and several verdicts are required on one level to make sure it gets into the post. We would take a VERY dim view of it if one of the crew said "Hey pick this level my friend made it". The purpose of the Spotlight Crew is to highlight levels we feel make good entertainment for LBP players from LBPC's level showcase, not for connected people to scratch each other's backs. And obviously our choices are subjective - you're not going to agree with us on every last level. (While I'm here I'll say that I played no part/gave no bribes/offered no cookies to my fellow crew members for spotlighting my levels over the past few episodes. I'm honoured that my levels are considered good enough to be put on that list - thanks guys!)

If you're adamant that you believe some levels deserved to be up there - levels have been missed before, and we've corrected the post as soon as we found out; feel free to PM me or one of the other crew with a list of the levels you think deserve to be up there. Chances are we've played them, and we've delivered verdicts on them. But please don't write derogatively about other peoples' creations - how would you feel if someone told you they could "throw up" over your hard work?

PS: Congratulations creators, lots of great stuff up there! And thanks for the hard work of the crew, temporary and permanent - the backlog's now 1/3 empty, wahoo!

rialrees
06-28-2011, 05:48 PM
Regarding favouritism in this spotlight, I can only echo what Holguin has said.

No member of the spotlight crew shows the slightest sign of any sort of bias towards other members of the crew, or our acquaintances outside of the crew.

To be completely honest, in my personal experience, I am too concerned with playing the level to worry about who actually published it. No names are written in the spreadsheet that we work from (only lbp.me and thread links), and unless I recognise somebody's earth (and I rarely do) I often find myself stopping halfway through a good level to check the details and find out who actually published it! So no, I never enter a level with a predetermined thought in my mind about whether it will be picked or not, and I have complete faith that nobody else here does either.

If you think we really have missed out a fantastic level, please do tell us what it is - issues with moved posts in the past have meant that we have had to add a level back in to a later episode to make sure it is played - so perhaps there is a level that was overlooked - its rare but it can happen.

I can't seem to imagine you are referring to me with this, considering (http://lbp.me/v/1v1tsn/reviews)... T.T

The spotlight team exhibits no favoritism, sure you have a right to an opinion, but not enough to bash others ideas wrong simply because you disagree. And when you say one in particular, hmmmmmmm, now who on earth could that be judging by this (http://lbp.me/v/1v1tsn/reviews).

I'm way good friends with OEB and Joey, but you need 3 oks to spotlight a level fyi, and I'm guessing I earned those because believe it or not some other people found my level entertaining and interesting.

Sorry to ruin the mood of the thread, but I felt like I needed to let that out.

Once again great job you guys, there are a ton of levels to play and thanks for the spotlight! :)

So that's why "Life" had a sudden rush of new plays. This is certainly a surprise!

I can't tell you how honoured I am to have my little Game of Life experiment featured on this list, though the big, dumb grin on my face should explain my feelings somewhat.

You see, now I got you guys contradicting each other. Having you secretly admitting that this was a bias decision, by your own choice of words, maybe without you realizing it. Thus, still leads me to conclude that this was an act of favoritism. I shall prove my case.

Jayhawk_er here claims that you need THREE spotlight staffs in order to approve the title. It's contradiction was made by you(Holguin86), when you stated "At least TWO members must be in agreement before the level is spotlighted" and also when you stated "All I can say is that both levels have been played by at least two of the crew, and fairly judged.". Last time I checked the spotlight feedbacks from the staffs, there were only TWO reviews. JayHawk_er also claims that he's friends with OneEyedBanshee and Joey..... hmmmm..... is everyone still following me here? Let's all count that together please... One.... Two... Well there you go Holguin86, he got the required amount of members to approve his game into the spotlight....

To point out the bias statement you made via Private Messages. You stated "OK, I can't really pass judgement on the levels in question because I didn't play levels for the crew last week. I will say though, that I trust their judgement." take great noticed of the bold and underlined portion. You trust their judgement, without proper investigation as to whether my allegations were true or not, which means you favor their party over me simply because they are staff members, that's just plain out being bias.

Another thing I caught you contradicting yourself is when you stated "So I can't see it being a ploy by OneEyedBanshee to get his friends' levels into the Spotlight, as more than one person agrees and I believe he didn't even give a verdict for Jet Strike anyway." Last time I checked, OneEyedBanshee WAS in fact one of the reviewers for that particular game. Check it yourself.

I find it rather funny how you tried to cover the tracks with this statement, although it may be true, but I HIGHLY doubt it. So this is what you said "Creator names are not included on our database so we have no idea who the level is by until we've played it - the crew just play straight down the list." Regardless of the members not having the names of the game creator, what makes you believe that OneEyedBanshee had no clue what the name of his friend's game name was... Hell, I know what all my LBP friends are working on, name and genre. You're not going to tell me that JayHawk_er and OneEyedBanshee, who has worked on MTG series together and are good friends, wouldn't know what their friends are working on??? Please don't feed me those lies. I'm not as gullible as some of the younger members of this site who would believe just about everything you guys say. I seek the truth and I've found it.

-LoVeRiCe

Favouritism does NOT exist on the Spotlight Crew, I can tell you that now. And obviously our choices are subjective - you're not going to agree with us on every last level.

Of course you're going to say that Favoritism does NOT exist, because if that was true, it'll give the site a bad name and members of the staffs along with it. I have good reasons and evidences that supports my allegations concerning the choices made during the course of the spotlighting. Yet, you failed as a responsible staff to fully investigate this issue..... not to mention many other details as well.

If you're adamant that you believe some levels deserved to be up there. But please don't write derogatively about other peoples' creations - how would you feel if someone told you they could "throw up" over your hard work?

Yes, I most certainly do feel that there are more well deserved game creators up there, that should replace some of the ones chosen up there, for this week and some from the previous weeks. Derogative? What... I can't be upfront about a level? If anyone knows me, they know that I hold nothing back when I speak, I'll tell you straight out if your game is lame or should be fame. That particular game we're discussing is an epic fail, gameplay-wise. When I said I can "Throw Up" his game in 24 hours or less, I meant it, challenge me to do it, I'll do it, I will even make it BETTER(When I say 24 hours, I meant 24 legitimate full hours). Hell, if someone thinks they can "Throw Up" the game I've made, state it now and prove to me that you can. I guarantee you that the person taking the challenge won't be able to even figure out half of the logics I used to create my game.

I have made a private response to your complaints with the PM you sent me, LoVeRiCe - please, keep the convo there instead of turning this thread into another argument. Thanks.

Oh so you can hide the facts from the people and the community? I'm not trying to cause any trouble, all I ever wanted was a fair judgement and ruling. I took in something very suspecious among the spotlighting staffs, by addressing it to the public and to you, hoping you would help me solve this case. As to whether or not my allegations were true, yet you're still going by this code "I Trust them". Great help you are.

I can send you countless PMs back and forth, but if I did that, how would the people know if the team is being legitimate or not? It's like having police officers taking a criminal to a backroom with no cameras, they beat him up... they cover each other, no one will know what really happened in the backroom. They can easily say "Oh, he slipped and fell, that's why his face is bashed in.... trust us, we're the authorities =)".... without the cameras (community), no one will ever know, other than the criminal and the police officers involved. Don't drag me into a situation where my words will be silenced by the power of your staffing abilities, it wouldn't be fair game or a fair case for me now would it?

You turned something so small into something so big. All I wanted was a simple investigation on the staff because there's something fishy going on, this isn't seen just by my lonesome, this is seen by many other people as well. Since no one is willing to speak out, I chose to speak for them on their behalf.

When will you realize that the spotlight picks are totally subjective? We all don't agree on the levels, sometimes. It's just the way it goes.

When friends are involved with this so called "Subjective" it just isn't, it's more along the lines of "I picked you, cuz you're my friend and I feel obligated to =), cheers!!".

An 'investigation' has been made on our private forum, and we have checked and double checked the verdicts given on all three levels in question.

I can only speak for myself here, but I personally gave a verdict on all of these levels. Being as you are obviously in need of further explanation, I'll give you a rundown of those who played each level, and you can check their recent activity for yourself:

Jetstrike verdict reached by:
Rialrees, Oneeyedbanshee

Blazing Hawks verdict reached by:
Rialrees, Lightmare

Reign of the Armada verdict reached by:
Oneeyedbanshee, Valmassoi, Smasher, Lightmare, Rialrees

As this clearly shows, the fact that you brought up an issue regarding your level to us meant that we got more plays in to give a verdict. This is the system. Expecting this many people to play EVERY level is completely unrealistic. Expecting us to have no friends or acquaintances in LBP is simlarly unrealistic. We all do our best to remain unbiased throughout the spotlighting process, and I believe we do a good job of it. In fact, in the past few weeks there are plenty of levels made by spotlighters and friends of spotlighters which have not been given a spotlight, or even a nod. If we were truly biased towards our friends/fellow spotlighters, don't you think they'd all be in the showcase?

We have no problem with you bringing your concerns to the forum, but please, if you want a further investigation in the matter, do dicuss it privately with a member from the crew. That way, we can address your concerns, and prevent a thread which is supposed to be based on positivity and showcasing from being reduced to petty back-and-forth bickering.

It is not a case of hiding facts in a back room, but more of keeping debates organised and civilised. You must understand that yelling from the rooftops about this kind of topic is not just calling us out (which is not the issue) but also stomps on every single level in the showcase. Not only are you questioning a single level's quality, but by questioning our verdict, you are by extension putting a shadow of doubt over the quality of every level in the spotlight.

Not only that, but you are essentially making it appear that a spotlight nod isn't 'good enough', when it is in fact a remarkable achievement in itself. In over 150 levels, to be recommended as a level with everyone else in the article should be a compliment. :)

To reduce a public thread to mere bickering because of your selfishness is outright disgraceful. You have just fabricated together an invalid argument to use us a scapegoat to frantically blame anyone you can lay eyes on and wasted our time in the process. Why? Is it because you feel like your level hasn't gotten the praise and/or attention it deserved? Do you feel like it should have been spotlighted?

I have tried my best not to reply and sink down to your level, but I feel like you have greatly insulted us. If you somehow still think we are "scheming" with Marvin the Martian to blow up the Earth then I think it be best if you don't read the spotlight altogether.

Why are you even mentioning my level? This wasn't about my level. This is about all the candidates for this week's episode, my level isn't even involved here, goes to show how much you know about this matter.

How does selfishness play a role here exactly? I'm trying to give attention to other creator's deserving levels, NOT mine, make that clear to yourself, please. I haven't fabricated anything, was merely pointing out the obvious.

Insulted you because I was right? Or insulted you because someone had the nerve to expose the truth? You know why no one else is speaking for my behalf, because they fear of banishment, whereas I, don't. Trust me, that's really the case.... at least for now.

What are you trying to imply when you mentioned Marvin the Martian? That everything is all made up? No, it's not, I speak because I do, as many others suspects foul play. I'm not just one voice, just because you see a single name responding, does not mean I'm alone in this matter. I do this because I do not fear the staffs. I do this because I want justice done right. Call this week a fluke if you will, but it will only open up more cases for past weeks.

I got a statement from one of your staff saying what was done to me was truly unfair. And yes, this involves, no other than OEB himself, go figure.

Look, as far as I know OneEyedBanshee is the only one on the team (that's active) that has any connection with jayhawker. So, your saying he has enough clout to convince us to spotlight One of his friends level? You couldn't be more wrong. To be honest most of us on the crew aren't even really good friends with each other. We're just trying to do a service for the community, and we're trying our best. It's unfortunate that we can't please everyone, all the time. I wish we could. I also, just for the record, want to point out. It's NOT a conspiracy. It's Not favoritism. It's just the way the dice fell this time around. You're stating your argument as fact. It's not fact, it's your point of view of the matter, so I'd say we are at an impasse. We could go on, and on, but it will do no good. Thanks.

I'm really surprised that my level was spotlighted; I honestly did not think it was deserving of one. Nonetheless, thanks for another great spotlight.
