It looks like Ramp and all the other 100,000+ hit levels were taken down and the COOL levels given a dramatic overhaul.
There appears to be more great levels staying up on the section now than ever before. Hopefully this signals a change in the way this section is maintained. It makes sense to take massively played levels off to make room for newer levels to take their place.
From my personal experience one of my levels with 4500 plays has made it to page 2 of the cool levels section and the one with 2500 plays is on around page 18. Saying this it appears the star rating is also used in determining its position as the level with 2500 has more hits than other levels higher up the ranking but it only has 3 stars and not 4. So you should be able to gage from that where abouts your level lies.
Just having a look around the new cool levels brings you right back to that intial excitement!

i wonder what their system is for new levels. because we do want new great content to be discovered. they should have a "cool levels" as it is now, and an "emerging gems" section which could be hit or miss but more quickly starts to push levels up in the ladder (some freshly published and some with high star ratings but very few votes as of yet) than cool levels would.
anyone have any idea how they actually handle newly published levels?

I think ramp is on highest played list, but it will die!
I love the new setup.
OMG Ramp has been played over a MILLION times! That's unbelievable, the stupidest level ever has attracted so many people just because of it's name. Ugh.

I saw it reach cool levels again i think.
Yeah, I saw it up there at my friends house.
You should be able to 'De-play' levels, cancelling out the normal plays one by one..

Ramp 2: Jump Higher Ramp 3: The Thrustercar ... Ramp 44: Ramp it up. I don't think I've played the ramp level. I probably have but I can't remember.

Lol I am ashamed to say on my PS3 it was given 5 stars, my little bros friend came over and loved it. I quickly compensated with a series of 1 star ratings however.

No more ramp? Really? A friend of mine went as far as to message the creator and ask him to fix the skateboard. Now, we'll never know if he fixed it. :(

Yeah I thought this too. It seems there isn't a specific new ramp, but all the levels on page one will become the new ramp. (???)

I think its craxy how many plays page one gets in comparison to page two! Do people not know how to press R1 to get to the next page???

I am trying to figure out what the profile for an average LBP player is.
Based on the "Highest Rated" levels, I'm assuming the average player is 6 years old, LOVES prize bubbles, and hates anything that requires effort of contains subtext.

Your right on the money, CCubbage. I have a seven and nine year old and they give 5 stars and hearts to junk levels. When I ask them why they think it is a 5 star level they tell me "because I didn't die"

R1 is the button to the right of L1 and right above R2, unless of course you are looking at the controller from behind in which case R1 is the button to the left of L1. If you are dyslexic R1 is to the left of and below L2 but above T5.

I feel bad for the Ramp man. Think about it, you publish a level called "Ramp" and expect it to get maybe 100 plays max. Then all of the sudden, it's on the front page of Cool Levels and everyone hates you for it. It's not like there aren't other levels just like ramp, it's just you don't hate them because they weren't on cool levels. It's not like he made a trophy level or anything. And from playing his other level, he's a fairly good level creator.

Ramp 0: The creation
(very short level)
lol@ people not pushing R1. I think maybe people play a "cool level" realize it's not "cool" in most cases and play the story mode. Then a few years later they discover R1 and realize that the second page isn't much better.
Cool levels should be picked weekly by MM O_O.... is it that hard to hire some interns to play levels all day and pick their favorites? There should also be a seperate "fan favorites" section, those can be where the current "cool levels" can go.

I don't hate the creator of Ramp. My emotions toward this subject are the following:
I am INCREDIBLY jealous of a level that can gain that much attention with absolutely NO design effort whatsoever. It is the same feeling I get at seeing prize bubble levels all over the highest rated levels. I don't know whether to keep my integrity and build decent games, or give in and start mass-building prize bubble levels.
(ok, next week you will see my new level "RAMP TROPHY DELUXE SUPER PRIZE BUBBLE GIVEAWAY IN 5 SECONDS FLAT")

This is a BIG flaw in the human race as a whole, for I have seen it everywhere.
Less effort=More pay?
More quality=Less attention?
What kind of madness is this?

I agree. Case in point, a level I saw by user "Risen" (Blorf PSN) about a month ago - "Metal Revolution". One of the most well-thought-out levels I have seen in LittleBigPlanet. VERY intelligent design. Kept going back and only seeing about 44 playes on it. Jumped up to about 47 recently. I KNOW he was getting frustrated. I can just imagine the author sitting at home carefully working out every single detail of this level and making every mechanic work exactly right.
Check out the reviews section today! I'm hoping he will finally get some credit for this great work. If we don't all pitch in and make sure the great levels get attention, we are going to be missing authors who will really put the time in.

I don't agree with you, but I must. If this wasn't true, Cloverfield would still be being talked about, seeing as it was the best movie ever besides I Am Legend.

This behavior is very surprising to me considering the wide appeal of LittleBigPlanet to people of all ages. I don't understand, how do 6, 8, and 10 year olds make this much of an impact, while people in their teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, and possibly 50s consider the effort and quality that goes into a level, like us? It doesn't make any sense.

The last post in this topic was ages ago. Try not to bump incredibly old topics, especially considering it is a dead topic (pun intended)
