View Full Version : Ultra Turtle Blaster Extreme (8-bit Platformer) - Preview Thread w/ Pictures!

09-12-2011, 05:28 AM

As the development of my level draws to a close, I've decided to try to build some hype by making a thread showing some features of my upcoming level.

You play as an unnamed turtle fighting to save your female counterpart from an evil hare. He can jump and go into his shell to deflect projectiles, which proves to be an exciting gameplay element and an essential component to completion.

Did we mention, he loves lollipops! Collect enough of them to earn prizes, and even a minigame!

You travel through a handful of environments and get interesting powerups such as a shell-mounted laser gun.

Is this Contra? Look at those stunning graphics!

The release date is yet to be determined, but it will fall on a Thursday. The level is around 10 minutes long (15 if you aren't too good at it!) and is medium-hard difficulty. I'll be updating this thread with more pictures and news, so stay tuned! Blast on!

All this! Just for you! (I must be going insane...)

Thanks a bunch, majormel!

Update today, essentially finished with the main game! Whoop whoop! Hard at work on the minigame for you guys; if you want to play it, make sure you collect all 10 lollipops! If you don't, however, you shouldn't be sad. For every 2 you collect, you get a special music sequencer used in the game, with up to 5 total to win. Happy gadding!

Looks pretty cool! What was the final decision for the turtles speed?

The turtle moves at a medium pace, about 3.0.

Update: Here is the working title screen for the minigame! No more info until you collect those lollipops! ^^

Wield either a sixaxis or Move controller, either will work!

Not sure what the double posting rule is, but it has been 2 days so here is an update! The minigame is coming along great, but a crash wiped half of it. Currently rebuilding. :( Busy as of late, but stay tuned!
