Okay, so me and Marino thought up of another "collective thread" idea, this one focusing on stories for levels. Need advice or help for a story you'd like to base your level around? Would you like to simply share what you have so far? Need a name for a character? Have doubts in how your story will progress later on?

I just think it would be interesting, because story is a big part of games and always has been, wether it be RPG's or just FPS's! It will allow players to dive deeper into the world of your level, making it much more than just going from point A to point B. And yes, I know many people just want to make minigames, which is understandable, and I'm not suggesting that we start writing up 400 lines in Notepad, but... Giving a simple line or two to let the players know what's going on doesn't hurt! An "NPC" there at the start, or another at the end... Not such a lonely place, after all!

Anyway, just an idea. If you like it, go ahead and post what's on your mind!
I'll post the threads I made regarding my level ideas, just to give an example. The quoted text within them, of course, is the "narrated" story bit.

Temple of a Dozen Challenges (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=690)
Enter the Fangs (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=699)

I don't think I'll make a collection of linked threads on this unless asked, because honestly, there's not a lot I can, well... collect! Hahah. Any suggestions, though, feel free to give!

Credit to Marino for the original idea. ;D

B.E.E.R.R.U.N

now if you were to make the sackboys go through the ghetto of detroit and face viscious dogs (bite you) and gangs (throw ciggaretts and burn you) to get to the store and buy a 2oz travel bottle of booze so that they can get plastered and put grafitti all over the library wall... Hows that for a story...

Hm. I'm thinking about making a tutorial about creating stories for your levels.
Not that I'm qualified or anything, I just think it would be very useful.

Nice to see this thread up! :)

EDIT: I found a very interesting article about the link between stories & games:
