View Full Version : No more "ghost glue"

Ghost glue is a term i coined back in lbp2 when objects saved/ obtained would become "stuck together" even though they were never near each other, and upon deletion, the entire saved portion would be deleted.

I recently published a level giving out the 3d layers to the publish w/o community lock so they could be edited. Unfortunatly, they could not be edited due to this problem.

I'm sure quite a few of you guys understand what i am saying, and if you don't, sorry if i'm being vague.

My suggestion is for this to just not exist. It was a pain in lbp2 and it is a pain in lbpv (mostly because what i was trying to do can't be done :( )

FUN FACT: in the lbp2 beta, this ghost gluing also occured w/ lbp1 transfered objects, making them almost useless. Custom text was the biggest issue. This was resolved in the beta, but when the full game came out, ghost glue was still there until a few updates later.

This seems to be an on-and-off thing: I got your item, and it had the problem you described. But I got a car in another level, and that worked. BUT when I tried to make my own car, the wheels got glued on all of the ones I made out of the GB. The original was fine, however.

It's very inconsistent, more so than it was in lbp2. I wonder what causes it...

I seem to recall Aya042 finding workarounds to object grouping for captured objects in LBP2. He said that giving the prize a name made the object un-editable, so don't name your prize. Secondly, capturing a grouped object can sometimes break the protection and it becomes editable. I was able to capture a cascade provided by DrunkenFist_Lee earlier today that was fully editable.

1: has no name... so that's not a problem...
2: i don't quite understand the second statement. if you could elaborate...

I think he means to take the prize, place it in you level, capture it again, and then place the captured object.

Also, I think there is a "Allow Sharing" option in the prize bubble tweak menu that lets you choose whether or not the person who recieves your prize can share it.. I'm not sure if it affects this "Ghost Gluing" or not, but part of me thinks it does :P

thanks for sharing these , but your prizes still arent editable... i can delete one block without the rest going, but they arent mergable, drawable or corner editable.
