View Full Version : Captive

Hey folks! Just made my first LBPVita level, took me about 14 hours trying to work out all the logic, I learned quite a lot! Any feedback appreciated, but please be gentle, as I've put my heart and soul into this over the last few days, hehe.

A typical platformer and quite a short level, but, the difference here is it's a single player co-op level.
That's right, you're controlling two sack people simultaneously, so get your multi-tasking hat on!
You control your player normally and the electrified sackbot by touching the screen, telling him where to go. Naturally the level can only be completed by the two working together. Try not to electrocute yourself on the sackbot. :)

Please let me know of any bugs or any obvious improvements that are needed. Thanks. :)

The concept for this was really cool, my only problem was with a few minor execution problems. The electric sackbot didn't seem to follow very often, unless you tapped right next to him, which was quite annoying, a larger radius would have been more useful. Also at times it felt like I was only doing the same kind of thing, would have liked to have seen more innovative uses than just 'get the sackbot to stand on button'.

Overall a good effort though and you've clearly learnt a lot from this lovely level :)

Very good level, I had a lot of fun with it. I think the issue as coxy said was with the sackbot struggling to sense my touch if it was too far away, Was the sockbots awareness just at it's default setting?

But yeah, very good level it was fun.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll increase the awareness as soon as I can get a wifi connection. I was wondering if it needed increasing. Glad you both enjoyed it otherwise. :)

I will try to make my next level more innovative, I have indeed learnt a lot creating this one. Thanks again.

I've gone back to this level and fixed some of the bugs, and added some infinite check points, as while the level is quite short, it's easy to die. Especially while you're getting used to ordering your electrified AI buddy around. If people could take a look at it and let me know what they think I'd appreciate it, thanks.

While it's a fair bit easier, it's still pretty nails. Anyone who succeeds in finishing the level and gets a score gets a heart from me. :) :p

ok, im not a professional here, im still learning and a new creator too, but ill try to make a review of what I thought of it ;) so here goes:

so to start off I really liked this level! its pretty good for your first one actually! and the idea of having to control a sackbot to help you get further in the level is a great idea! but it could've use some improvements imo.

like I kept having some problems with hitting my sackbot and him electrifying me XD.
another tip is that maybe you could've make some more variation in the puzzles/stuff you co-op. ( idk how to call it XD ) instead of having him stand on a button everytime.
then the scenery was pretty basic in this level, but as its your first level its not that bad for your first one actually, maybe add some more decorations/stickers next time? and use some more variations in shapes, materials and some more layering.
but overall this is a great level for your first one I think and I see alot of potential here! Would you mind to check out my first level on lbpvita?

Sure, I'll take a look now. Thanks for the tips! Glad you liked it. :)
