Welcome to your worst nightmare, The City of Delusion.
Sackboy awakes to find himself in a dark alleyway with no memory of the night before. According to a mysterious yet posh Butler, Sackboy has been out partying all night. The Butler takes Sackboy into the apartments and Sackboy then learns his apartment number. As he enters the elevator everything seems perfectly fine. But why are the apartments so rotten? Why are the people constantly anxious? And what is the mysterious White Figure? With the help of Taylor Johnson, a strange man who happened to be in the right place at the right time, Sackboy will have to venture through the city in order to find the truth.

Okay, so this is just the intro video, nothing too special but it's my first level on the vita and my first cutscene level ever. It's reasonably short, and I have done the voices myself through the vitas microphone. So they sound kinda radio-ish. Please leave some constructive feedback in-game or right here. Any problems that occur during your viewing of the video please let me know. Feedback For Feedback is an option! And if you feel I'm not getting on to it quickly enough then please, do not hesitate to use Capital Lock :) Hope you like it!

EDIT: Queue the level here at http://vita.lbp.me/v/8228d

Ok, I have to ask:

Are you a Simon R Green fan?

Simon R Green made a series of books called the Nightside which featured a hidden and "evil" part of london where monsters of legend and nightmare could come to life. The main character was John Taylor, a detective with a trench coat, and he was hunted by the harrowing, a set of blank-faced monsters who haunted him all his life. The first book was, i believe, also called Enter The Nightside too :P

So I saw a heck of a lot of comparrison with Enter The City, Taylor Johnson and his "welcome to your nightmare", in a dark city with Hollows in it :P

And, back on topic: really nice video :)

Hey glad you liked it :) I am bound by the rules of F4F to give feedback on a level of yours :) post a link here and I'll get on to it next week (going skiing tomorrow) thanks so much! Your feedback is appreciated :)

Great movie! If this is just the intro, I can't wait for the ful thing. The characters were great (even though you used the same exact costume as Dr. Sackensteinů) It wasn't too scary, but was kind of creapy. And there were some funny parts too. Overall, it was a pretty enjoyable cutscene. Looking foward to the full movie.

Nicely paced, well voice-acted! You've done well with the behaviour recording for the Sackbots, and you must have gone to some trouble to make Taylor Johnson's mouth look like he's talking!

Job well done. I can't really offer any suggestions for improvement on that, apart from make the rest!

Thanks for leaving me feedback on my Space Corps level, and sorry it's taken this long to get back to you with your F4F. At last! Here it is. :)

This is a great little intro cutscene that does its job well: to get me interested in playing the full level. ;) You build up the mystery and suspense remarkably well in a short period of time. The whole situation is really creepy and intriguing, thanks largely to the environment. Your use of the rain material combined with appropriate lighting does indeed make it seem rainy, and of course the sound effects finish the job nicely. There's a lot of attention to detail in the decorating and background objects as well. Everything looks great.

Your voice acting is excellent, as is the camera work. I like the camera angles you chose as well as the progression of shots, and your acting is solid as well. You did an especially good job on the faceless things, running along with head lolling to one side and arms trailing behind. Really spooky! The part towards the beginning where you "change clothes" is clever as well, although it would have been nice to have an associated sound effect when you transition from one window to the next.

There are a few things you can fix, but they really aren't bad. Keep in mind that I'm just really picky about tiny things so take this with a grain of salt. ;) One thing I noticed is a bit of awkward timing in a few of the scenes. There are some strange pauses after a couple of the dialog segments that could be tightened up, and the acted emotions sometimes don't quite line up with the timing of the rest of the scene. This is not the easiest thing in the world to get perfect, of course - it just takes lots and lots of minor tweaking until you're happy with it. If you are using sequencers, you might want to consider speeding up overall time and stretching out the elements to give you finer control of when exactly things are happening. (e.g., change the timing per line from 2.0 seconds to 1.0 second and stretch out everything on the sequencer twice as long) The only other thing I found that I could possibly complain about (and believe me, I looked!) is that the background sky on the rooftop looks a bit too plain - there needs to be some slight texture there to sell the idea that it's clouds we're looking at. You could use 'realistic cloud' stickers on tweaked sticker panels so that they are just barely visible and mostly see-through.

Overall, this is great work, and I look forward to the full level/movie that will go with this. For a teaser and/or intro cutscene I give this a solid 8/10 and a yay! in game. Really nice stuff here - thanks for the entertainment! :D

Thanks very much Taffey :) And thanks for the little Spotlight nod :D yes, in the end I nearly ran out of space and the environment became less of a worry for me, but that's just slacking. Haha, yes, I didn't use sequencers because well, I don't like them, so yes I do see where you're coming from with the whole pausing thing :) I wanted Taylor Johnson to be frowning all the time but I never got round to that :p Thanks again for your feedback, and you too nys :) glad it made you a little bit creeped out, hopefully not too much ;)
