View Full Version : Pinball Insanity by Zohnar

Hello everyone!

I bring you my 1st LBP Vita lvl known as Pinball Insanity.
This is a pinball lvl unlike most seen. It is constantly being updated with more complexity to old tables and gets new tables every so often. I plan to have at least 3 tables but may go up to 6.

Tables range from 3 difficulties and different themes.
I take any suggestions for themes, tables, or mechanics.

I consider it still a beta lvl but table one can only be fixed. This weekend I plan a big update with a new table.

R and L use the flippers and hold and release X for launching ball. You can also rotate your Vita on its right side to enter a new view. In this mode the flippers are controlled by the 2 buttons on the bottom of the screen.

Garden Table

If anyone wants to help test new tables before release send me a pm and tell why you be good for it.

Added to my queue :) Will be sure to leave some feedback.

Thanks. I hope you enjoy it. I know of 1 or 2 glitches but they shouldn't mess with overall gameplay. Tell me what you think ^.^

Wow, nicely presented. The menu / Scoreboards ect are great. Love the fact you can flip the Vita mid game to change the orientation, that's a nice touch that even some pro pinball games lack :) There's massive potential here that's for sure, so I hope you don't mind a bit of feedback on your first table.

-I think you need to smooth out some areas to make ball movement more fluid. for example the lanes that the ball travels down to the flipper have kinda sharp corners which you don't see on regular pinball tables, and this generally catches and stops the ball for a while.

-The ball drains both directly down the middle and in the outlanes way too often, it's hard to get a good game going.

-I've yet to get too far into Create mode so I'm not sure what tools you have to affect the ball movement, but anything that could speed up the ball a little and increase the gravity would benefit the table.

-Some kinda skill shot would be nice, maybe a 2nd exit near the top where if you hit the ball nearly full power it comes out of there too awarding points.

Anyway great work, will be following it closely.

Thanks for the feedback. There are some problems concerning the vectors on corners and the balls bouncing. You may have noticed it but I have an updated version of that table ready. I also added an extra ball skill shot.

You should see how the steampunk table is coming.
Cus of your awesome feedback if ya like you can help test the new stuff, but I'd need to add you on psn.

Not really my genre of choice but the screenshot looks pretty nice so I'll give it a go and give feedback. And who knows? This might be a level that would be fun to keep in the downloaded section to keep coming back to.

EDIT: Just played it and I thought it was a polished, better-than-average level. The visuals were great and the menu was very nice, but the gameplay was a bit bland. By that I don't mean I don't really like pinball games so I'm going to knock your level, but what I mean is that every concept in the level I've seen before (though not in LBPV so kudos to you). You might respond with, "well it's a pinball level." and my response would most likely be, "Yes, it is a pinball level. It's also a LittleBigPlanet level." My point is add a little pizzazz to the gameplay. Even adding more animations would add to the appeal. Right now if feels a bit stationary, which is fine, since it's rather new, but to make it worthy off a team pick you should play around with it a bit. Experiment. Try messing around with ideas (though i recommend doing so under a new slot making use of the snazzy save as).
Beautiful menu with multiple control methods
Responsive ball and paddles
It's fun
Glitched out the first time (big time where the horizontal view did not work at all. The ball launcher did not move either and a lot of the point opportunities did not work.) (I think it was just a one time thing with my vita)
Lacks pretty animations to go with the gorgeous table
The high score is the only thing making people come back

Fix the glitch i encountered (horizontal view didn't show table and the ball wouldnt go down the pipe)
Add animations
Maybe add an achievement page that has to do with specific parts of the table and not the score
MOAR TABLES (but you're already doing that ;))

and that's my mini-review for this level :p

Thanks for the suggestions. I understand the 1st table is blah. I think of table 1 as being in beta. The new update coming soon has a few fixes to that table and the new Steampunk table that's a lot more flashy.

Some things to looks forward too in this update is added visuals, better chosen music, working skill shots for extra balls, know table difficulty at table selection.

Once I start playing around with the memorized ill use your idea for achievements. Maybe 3 per table.

I hope to release the update today but no promises. If not today it be sometime next week due to vacation. If you or anyone else has suggestions or ideas I'd love to read them.

Don't get me wrong the first table isn't bad (most of that review was written with the weird glitch thing that happened to my vita) and in fact is quite pretty it's just that animations could bump up the level. Right now i would give the level around a 7/10 but I can easily see it become a 9/10 or even a 10/10 and team pick (though I've never played a level in any LBP game i thought should be rated 10/10).

Well what do you meen by animation? Also you will be surprised at the steampunk table. I taking longer to add an extra bit of logic too it. I always like to have a kind of boss fight. 1st table that was multiball mode which (should) be fixed in this next version. Steampunk tables is a random jackpot. Steampunk table has a LOT of moving parts.

10-10-2012, 04:36 AM
That sounds like exactly what I mean :D I figured the other tables would have more movement to them based on the themes. Just don't go crazy :P (by that I mean don't make it ugly from too many decorations blocking things or going through each other). oh i never noticed the multiball

10-10-2012, 04:05 PM
Multiball is broken in the current live build. It's hard to fully test the harder to activate functions. That's why I need testers. In on vacation so might not see an update till next week but ill post here If I do. I can say that the garden table is lvl 1 dificulty out of possible 3 lvls while steampunk is lvl 3. Think sifi will be a 2.

Update 1.1.0 is now out. This adds the new Steampunk table to the game and fixes a lot of glitches to the Garden table, including some minor physical changes.

I hope everyone likes the new table. Spent a lot of time on it.

Queuing and going to play again

Awesome. I am taking a break to do a different project but please tell me what you think of the new table and if ya find any glitches.

I liked the new table. I felt it was more fair but also more difficult to earn points (as the difficulty suggested). Visually it's nice but harder to tell where certain things are but it only take a second or two of actually looking to see. I definitely liked this table. I don't think i replayed the garden though so I can't comment about the changes.

Glad you liked it. I hope you like my next title which is a horror. Ill be working on the 3rd table but taking my tame with it.

I thought the new table was pretty cool! Great game overall, I had a good time with it.
