View Full Version : Fast Food Frenzy (2-4 players recommended)

Here is the first level I have made in LBP Vita (and possibly last multiplayer level - they are such a pain to create).

In this game, you have to be the first player to score 20 kills. Use the R trigger to accelerate, L to reverse, left stick to steer, right stick to shoot, and tilt to strafe.

There is much more I am planning to add to add to this game, including health pickups, secondary attacks, and the ability to select which food you want to control. I only really got a playable version up to submit it to the LBP internship contest.

I hope it works properly in 4 player mode. I've only really tested it by turning on 'shared screen game'.
Edit: I've recently tested it with random players, and it seems to be working okay! Huzzah!

Added to 1.1:
- Title screen added. You can now wait for more players to join the game.
- 1 second delay from death until respawn.

Added to 1.1.1:
- Version number added to title screen.
- End of level floor material changed to better reflect the arena material.

Added to 1.1.2:
- Pizza should no longer fall apart!
- Cola should be a lot easier to control!

Added to 1.1.3:
- Simplified respawn logic.
- Vehicles should no longer respawn if it's player ragequits!
- Player ready icons added to the title screen.
- Title screen sounds fixed.

Added to 1.2.0:
- Respawning is no longer 'bouncy'.
- Brand new level badge!
- Made the arena prettier.
- The burger's fire rate has been increased.
- Changed the music to something more 'arena' like.
- Added control screen to title screen.
- Now requires 2 or more players (as playing on your own sucked)!

Added to 1.2.1:
- Cola is now no longer broken!
- Slightly changed level description.
- Improved title screen.
- Controls viewable from title screen now show acceleration and reverse controls.

Added to 1.2.2:
- More pickles (bleurgh!) and pepperoni projectiles on screen at once.
- Adjusted control screen.
- Adjustments to title screen buttons.
- Some slight arena changes.

Added to 1.2.3:
- Cola is easier to control again!
- Pizza has faster steering again.
- Projectiles will be destroyed on entering, or leaving spawn areas.
- Tiny visual tweaks.

Added to 1.2.4:
- Controls are no longer shown at the bottom of the screen during gameplay (No longer needed since I added a controls screen).
- Reduced number of kills needed to 15, so the game doesn't drag on.

Added to 1.3.0:
- You can now select which food you want before starting the game! First come, first served!
- Slight title screen improvements.
- Fixed small scoring bug.
- Removed Herobrine

Added to 1.3.1:
- Health pickups now appear in the middle of the map every 20 seconds (as long as no-one is in the middle of the arena).
- Slightly faster speed and turning circle of all vehicles.
- Adjusted the strafe sensitivity, making it easier to strafe at full speed.
- Reduced the health of all vehicles, in an attempt to make the game faster paced.
- Projectiles no longer explode, unless they hit an enemy.
- Overhauled the scoreboard screen.

Added to 1.3.2:
- UV Adjustments

Added to 1.4.0:
- Scoring system overhauled! You will now have to get back to your base to 'bank' your points. I've also reduced the number of points needed to win to 10.
- Graphics of bases now include a graphic of the food it is the base of.
- Added a new 'How to play' screen at the title screen.

Added to 1.4.1:
- New sounds play when you kill a player, or get back to your base with some points.
- More detailed level description.

Added to 1.4.2:
- Strafing controls have changed, to prevent unintentional strafing. Now you can strafe by holding L and R and tilting the Vita.

Coming soon:
- Power-ups
- Health indicator
- Points indicator

I'll try it out with my brother when I get the chance and tell you what I think. Hopefully it's pretty soon.

What? No love for this level? :( I've made quite a big update to it, so now it looks prettier and plays more smoothly.

I have it queued but I haven't been able to play LBPV this last week. It also helps to put pics in the first post :D

EDIT: So I played it today (finally got a second player) and I thought it looked very nice visually. The main problem I had was with the controls. It felt very odd to move the food around. They didn't stop moving when you stopped pushing R but didn't keep moving at the same speed either. It just felt weird. That's really the main thing I didn't like. The only other thing is I often lost my opponent since I only played with 1 other person.

Go and play other people's levels and leave them feedback, and they will do the same for you. Win-win. :)

Just updated this level again. I've improved the title screen slightly, and now the cola works!

Yeah, its not bad... its playable, its just could be more fastpaced... i think 20 Kills is just too high... i played it with another person and tbh i stopped at 5 Kills... since it just took too long.... and i think the camera is a bit too close at the player... ok, allthough there is an option to change the perspective... it just didnt do anything? And it kinda takes to long to kill the other person... if u actually meet u just stand there still and press R for some time haha.... its like if u would meet with your opponent in a FPS Game and just stand still in front of each other and shoot like 10-20 Seconds at the other player...

All i wanna say its a neat little arena Shooter, but the fun is missing abit... if it would be more fast paced and maybe some kinda of powerups that would be awesome.... the standard camera zoom is to close for me too... and when i played the 2nd Player allways respawned at the same space.... so i just farmed him hehe.... and he was ******... i couldnt read what he said about the level since it was all ***īs lol...

Just tweak it a little and it should be fine.

OK, a little update: This level has been shortlisted for the LBP internship contest (http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013/01/17/littlebigplanet-ps-vita-internship-finalists-announced/)! If I win, expect to see official fast food DLC! ;)

I've also made a couple of major updates to this level, in an attempt to turn this into a winning level. I've added the ability to choose which food you want to control, added health pickups and improved the overall pacing.

Congratz man, i saw u constantly updated your level, played it when u first presented it here and like a week ago or something played it again.. it got better. Still think it needs some improvements, gameplay wise, but u got a good chance to win the contest and than your level gets "polished from amateur excellence to an awesome piece of published content".

What i dont get is... this Legend of Legend lvl... wow... sorry, but... i dont get it... i really dont get.... its... sorry but its total crap lol... i cant understand how this even got this far, i dont even know, what to make out of it, if it would win.... its uninspired... its stupid and cryptic and theres like 100, no even 1000! better candidates out there... i know u must be willing to spend a month in sweden... but.. sorry lol, i dont get it.. i really dont get it at all. Did this lvl get this far out of pity or something? It would take like 30 Minutes to make and it seems some little kid made it lol, as its first level. I dont know, maybe its harsh, but... sorry lol... it sux! I played it with another person and told her afterwards about that contest and she wondered too.

I've made another big update. This one changes the way points are scored, so camping outside an enemy player's base is no longer a good option.
