View Full Version : Why?

Firstly I want to say that Iím a diehard LBP fan and I own a PS3 because of LBP2, this is some of my observations after just a few days play and I havenít spent long enough in create mode to ask a lot of whyís about that part yet.

My questions below arenít hating they just really want to know WHY? because I so want to love this game like I do the rest of the series.

Why isnít there a corner editor? Itís an absolute must!

Why canít I play with a family member with a PSN account on the same ps3? Instead when they join it just says my name with a 1 in brackets.

Why canít I back out of level before itís loaded if I changed my mind about playing it or clicked by mistake?

Why canít I just type on my wireless keyboard without 1st having to open the poppit and select chat?

Why is there no in game chat?

Why donít stickers behave in the same way as LBP? When trying to sticker clothing, it stickers my Sackbot too. Sackbot should also jump out of the cart when selecting stickers and not just stand up.

Why canít I change the global settings in my pod, so that I can make my earth and Moon look nice and individual?

Why is there no Cursor on the Earths? Itís kind of hit and miss to try and land on the level you wanted to select.

Why canít I rotate logic?

Why isnít there an in out mover?

Why isnít the rewind function the same as in LBP2? Rewinding will rewind once or twice but thatís it

Why canít I change my poppit colour? Let us be individual

Why do I feel that LBP Karting has took me back in time to before LBP1? Surely things should have progressed for the better. Itís LBP4 in essence, it should be in our face with a great big wow factor an un put downable game of pure pleasure that makes us want to create even bigger and better things than before but sadly nothing in the story mode or the actual feel of the game has given me any inspiration at all.

Why does everything in the poppit look so outdated and have horrible graphics? LBP Vitas poppit looks great surely the same style could have been used.

Why is create mode so AWKWARD? I know itís new, I know it will take some time to get used to but itís just so so soÖ. awkward, (Iíll note just 1 simple thing as this list would be endless)making a simple object (not a track, the track is the only easy part) is horrible, I donít want to have to have push L3 in and then R1 or R2 to change its thickness and how do you make something invisible?

Why are there no decent tutorials where we can interact and actually learn something? If it wasnít for dedicated people like ShadowdriverUB making his awesome 8 part video tutorials (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL88D0B590054BDFA6&feature=plcp) in create mode, I would have even less of a clue. It shouldnít be left to LBP fans to show people how to use the logic.

Why canít I take a close up picture in my pod? It just snaps the whole pod instantly and why are the graphics of the pictures still really bad quality?

Why canít I drive around freely in my pod or run around freely in there? LBP Karting pods are a lonely dark place with people just hanging in their cars, itís just so un-fun.

Why are the story mode levels so short and easy? Putting a Vs level next to every level we play is just filling up space to try and make it look more than it is.

Why is the story mode levels design so LBP1, no one wants to see a ton of badly made characters in LBP1 sets.

Why did they allow such badly made levels in gameplay and design like the Traffic jam 1 and the one with the monster that has to shot the trucks? Did no one test these levels and realise that not only do they look awful they play awful too?

Why are there hardly any different stickers or objects?

Why when I sometimes play a level are there great banks of terrain blocking my and the AIís path?

Why was the game released so soon if it wasnít ready?

Why werenít the errors sorted out in Beta?

Why do I feel so disappointed? :(

Where are the Follower Movers?

Where have Modnations 'Sculpt Along Track' options disappeared to?

Yeah, this game feels like it's not quite finished, TBH. I figured the Beta was only missing some tools because they were still works in progress, but it turns out they were just never planned to be put in the game.
I understand that this game is quite experimental and there were always going to be a few issues, but there are just too many features from the 2 games LBPK is based on which are missing.
The ability to snap to the track is something I really miss. It was so **** useful, and forgetting to keep those tools in LBPK seems like a massive step backwards.

Aren't they still there but just now called motors? I don't know I just heard...

Yea UFG should make a patch for all that stuff hopefully they don't ignore this franchise MM helped us a lot

After spending about 10 hours on my current track I am starting to feel comfortable with the editor. It isn't so awkward anymore.

I am sure a lot of your concerns are things that United Front Games wanted to add to the game, but they just ran out of time. I have a feeling this was a low budget project for Sony. It is still a solid game despite these concerns, and some of them are a bit nit-picky.

Absolutely agree with this!

Probably my most wanted is the corner editor. It's impossible to make any good looking shape. Also, stuff tends to get unaligned when using a grid.

Answer to all your questions:

Because MediaMolecule didn't make this game. United Front took the best of two games and mixed them together. I do hope they fix things that aren't working correctly like freezes and textchat. But riding around the pod is not necessary at all... go be social in Playstation Home lol

To add to that list, why are the trophies so glitchy? No joke, barely any of the online trophies actually pop up. I've looked around the web and I'm not the only one having problems.

They need to send out a patch soon. Preferably before Black Friday since that's when many people are getting the game. It's just kind of an embarrassment being a supposedly 'finished game'.

It's funny, I went from being disappointed with this game, to actually liking it, to being disappointed again. It just feels so unfinished, I hope UFG is listening to everything we're saying. I still can't get over how disappointing the story was, I was expecting it to be on par with LBPV's. Heck, even LBP2 has a deeper story than LBPK.

Yes, the story was complete rubbish.

Also, stuff tends to get unaligned when using a grid.

Oh man, didn't they even fix that!? That was one of the most complained-about things in the beta! What were they doing for three months!?

Making the karts a little bit faster? ;)

Lol I have no idea...

EDIT: Okay these trophy glitches are really annoying now. I played a level reviewed by a friend, didn't get that. I won 25 online races, didn't get that one. I played and finished 25 community levels, didn't get that one. Is UFG aware of these problems?

01-02-2013, 01:18 AM
There must be a thread where we can post our bug reports and suggestions, so that UFG will be aware of these things.

We seriously need sackbots. Cardboard characters feel so...outdated.
If we can have LBP1 characters, why not LBP2's?

(On the bright side, at least there aren't any costume levels anymore, and people can't really make bomb/shark/random stuff survivals.)

But yeah, this game needs some serious improvement or I'm packing up my stuff and moving back to LBP2.

I'll be patient a little while longer. For as many problems LBPK currently has, it does allow people to make fantastic levels of more than just simple racing and arena battles. I do hope the next patch will address a lot of these issues, if not all of them, as well as adding some much needed new features and improvements to the online/matchmaking system.

Ahem... https://twitter.com/UnitedFrontGame ... here is there twitter...tweet them asking for these things guys...that way they will listen

I finally bought LBPK today and I can see none of these problems have been fixed. All I really want is multiplayer create and keyboard chat anywhere without needing the popit.

06-13-2013, 10:06 PM
There's no good excuse for a lot of what's still in the game. LBPK frustrates me almost as much as it delights me but I don't regret my purchase. You're at an advantage since you're on this community so that you can find all of the good stuff creators made in the game.

I should also mention that I can't make junk in regular LBP, but I have four levels in LBPK that I'm pretty proud of. :)

so its like a stripped down modnation , full of glitches yet its still fun ? hmmm.

06-17-2013, 04:41 AM
I don't know ModNation Racer, but LBPK is still fun :)
