This thread will maintain all the information related to LoC.

Information:
World Name - Land of Cloth
http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp76/LordCanti07/LandofCloth-1.jpg
Areas (10/20)
Sack City-The main city that everyone starts out in. This area is connected to Thimble Town and Dragon's Nook. This area feature a big Sack city in the center of the play area and to the right there is the coast which has a port that can set sail to Thimble Town. To the left is rough terrain that eventually leads to a volcanoe that has the Dragon's Nook inside.

Bolt Factory-This is where the baddies of the world are constructed and shipped out to various areas around the world. It used to be a wonderous facotry created by the sack people to make there lives evil but it started building on itself and now it aims to take of the Land of Cloth and turn it into a Land of Metal. Connected to Thimble Town. The area connection to Thimble Town is at the far left and the actual factory is to the far right. You have to cross a desert area to get there.

Spool Canyons-As the name suggests this is a canyon area that is a round about way to get to bolt factory from Thimble Town. In the depths of the canyons are fierce monsters and mystical things happen down there. Things that could not be explained by the top sackientists of the world.

Thimble Town-This is the second largest city for sack people in the world. It is a port town that connects many areas of the world together so it is also the largest trading town in the world. Many quests are given and completed here do to the shear number of people coming here because they know brave sackventurers will travel through here at one point of another.

Dragon's Nook-This is the dwelling place of one of the fiercest creatures in all the land. Stonehead the Dragon. He is the toughest and scariest of foes that any sackventurer will come across. It is said that if you defeat this foe, a rare sight will be shown that only few have ever seen. This sight is also said to be the most beautiful thing in the world.

Battlecloth-This is an area between Thimble Town and Bolt Factory that is constantly raging in war between the sack people and the boltinions. It is a very dangerous zone and there are other ways to get to Bolt Factory such as through Spool Canyons. If you are the brave-hearted type then feel free to travel through this area.

Lint Village-South of Thimble Town and a once lush and prosperous city, now a crumbling ruin due to the Bolt Factory taking over the land. This was once the third largest city in the Land of Cloth and was known for it's war technology. Now that Bolt Factory controls this area, a dangerous era awaits the sack people. Brave sackventurers fight to protect their sacklands in these ruins.

Floatopia-This is an ancient civilization full of sackelders who know much more about the world then the rest of the inhabitants of the Land of Cloth. They use ancient materials that float in mid-air or have reverse effects on gravity, or are simply not affected by gravity at all. There technology isn't the greatest in the world though, the technology that exists in bolt factory is far more advanced.

Fluff Mountain-A dangerous pass located between Sack City and Floatopia, this region is the coldest in the world. Now, all who inhabit this frozen wasteland are the Yetis, strange creatures who can live in such snow, and enjoy throwing snowballs and generally attacking passerby. When nobody comes in a while, they go to neighboring towns to steal valuables.

Credits-This level will simply display pictures of all those who helped make the world what it is and display theirselves the way they want to be displayed. Each person involved will be able to choose what kind of picture they have on the creidts and what name they want displayed and any other effects involved with displaying their name.
Baddies (5)
Bolt Soldier-The standard unit in the evil bolt army. They are found far and wide across the land because they are the cheapest to make. They attack things in front of them will a weak spot on their back. They mainly just swing an electric baton up and down in front of them hoping to hit something, not very smart eh.

Bolt Soldier Elite-A slightly more advanced version of the bolt Soldier. It actually tries to hit the sack boy and his minor protection on its weak spot in the back. They are more expensive to make though for the slight upgrades so they are seen as much as the basic version of themselves.

Bolt Tank-One of the basic ground vehicles that the bolt army has built. It fires aimlessly hoping to hit its targets. It can be deadly even to it's own units. Yikes, can someone say targeting chip.

Black Guard-One of the most advanced infaltry that bolt factory has created. They guard the Factory itself, but are sent on missions that require skill not number from time to time. Still there are only a handful of these in the land and they take a while to build.

Sackinion-These poor sack people have either been captured by the enemy and inplanted with all sorts of technology or they have died and been brought back to life by the Boltinions through mechanical means. Either way they are forced to do the bidding of the Bolt Factory. These are your bretheren, but you have to kill them in order to free them.
Bosses (1)
Stonehead-The most ancient and fierce creature in all the land. None have seen more days than he, well no one but the ancients. His name comes from the fact that his head is made out of stone as is most of his body. He is a creature of the land and resides in a nook in an active volcanoe. He uses his treasures to lure sackventurers to their grave so he doesn't have to leave for his meals.
NPCs (4)
Sack Soldier-These are the most basic of infantry in the Sack Army. Sadly they are mostly inexperienced, but they are brave and they do what they can to protect their homelands. Be brave little sacks.

Sack Generals-More experienced than the soldiers, but fewer in number because it requires more skill. The sack army tries to avoid sending these gifted into the battlefield, but if they do a group will be going, and that group will be nearly inpenetrable.

Sack Counsel-Mostly composed of sackelders from Sack City, but also has members from other Sack Nations around the world like Thimble Town. They help make decisions for the Sack Lord like what to do with the Sack Army and what will be strategically best.

Sack Lord-The ruler of the Sack Nations and he resides in Sack City for it is one of the more fortified Sack Nations. He has to decide what to do with the Sack Army and sack people for this matter, basically he controls the fate of the sack people in the Land of Cloth. What pressure.
Other (1)

Sounds great, Create a really deep story and mold everthing around that... Im usually bursting with Ideas, so if I have anygood ones Ill send them your way.. Make sure you keep the feel of LBP in it though, I mean where as a RPG battle system may be cool, and would be extremely complex...and I would probably try somthing like that atleast once... as far as LBPRPG forget it! If I really wanna play an RPG like that, Ill go play FF7 through again, and come back when Im ready for more LBP... know what I mean???

But yea leave out any stupid battle system, you can find some really cool way to defeat mobs, just make sure it feels like LBP... Havent seen a platformer RPG since... umm lets see... Zelda 2??? not sure may have been one since then...

Anyway Im rambling, what I meant to say was, Great Idea, if you need any help Id be glad to!

Yeah help lol well I wasn't planning on having a battle system just creatures that you have to destroy their brains. There may be occasions like for some boss fights in order to complete quests that I use the paintanator but I haven't decided yet.

Madafaku
01-26-2009, 08:22 PM
yea I guess it all depends on the theme, like urban techno, by all means the paintinator would fit right in... midieaval fantasy... probably not... hmm well Ill think of some story elements and get back to you...

I have a kewl neato Idea.

You should try to incorporate some kind of turn-based battle system. Not necessarily at each enemy, but at bosses. Like it just poofs you to the site of the battle and you press buttons to do attacks. All these buttons would really do is make something emit from a nearby emitter to hit the enemy. How the health would work is like this.

There is a magnetic key switch beside a cog. There is the key for that magnetic key switch on the opposite side of that cog. Each one of those emitted objects meant to hurt the enemy would have keys on them, and the enemy itself would have a magnetic key switch on it. This key switch would move the cog, but since the object meant to hurt the enemy would only last a little while, it would only move the cog a little bit. When the magnetic key reaches the switch, the enemy explodes or something kewl!

Well..that's how I would do it. If you COULD incorporate a turn-based fighting system somehow, that would be VERY cool.

I must admit, I am intrigued :).

I would LOVE to participate in some way- however, I... am kinda horrible at creating :/.

Still, I would love to be part of this in some way, because, if this works out... EPIC WIN!

...Quite.

Anyway, I assume the story would just be a typical MMO, where it has no real story except you being an adventurer doing quests... Still, if I am to understand this correctly...

Let's say there are twenty areas. But, in this example, three.

A City.
A Mountain.
A River.

Sounds good, eh?

The city is the starting point, let's say... You pick up a quest from one guy who wants an ore for smithing, let's pretend. He gives you a sticker which is, in fact, a letter of permission for going into the mountain.

So, now that you have the sticker, you can enter the mountain! You can get the ore now- HOWEVER, this level isn't just for the ore :). You can later go to the river to hear from a fisherman there that orcs stole his daughter- so then he gives you a key to go to the SAME mountain level, you just go to a different section of it to do a DIFFERENT quest, yes?

... This sounds like a lot of work, and I would be happy to be part of it- I just am not too good at creating :/. Still, I would like to do what I can.

Hopefully Online Create comes soon, so that people can ACTUALLY work on these together... but right now, we best just plan how the combination of going to different levels and gaining new stuff works, eh?

Also, for bosses... may be hard to make some that don't fill up the thermometer... but I would prefer no paintinator for them and keep it strictly medieval typy...

Maybe Awesomeman's would work, though I saw that someone's working on some huge turn based battle machine with variables and whatnot in LBP...

An Idea for a turn based battle system against bosses may be a really good idea. I could definitely handle the whole poofing to another area situation. You may very well be on to something amazing. I will definitely look into developing this.

RockSauron
01-26-2009, 08:50 PM
Yeah, that would be good if it can work, but it probably can't for regular enemies...

I just hope it won't be too big a thermometer hog (the turn based thing for bosses, I mean).

The problem may lie in what quests may give the player though... tools to better quests? Or maybe... maybe there could be a larger plot that unfolds!

I have a tendacy for good plot ideas, but... maybe it could be something simple like an evil demon who's the last boss, and you have to find keys or stuff to get to him... So it would be a large branching path to get to him and the final boss!

Maybe we can have a diagram of the path to the finish line, where we draw out what will happen before hand like this quests opens up this chain or something...

Also... a question about one thing: When making new accounts, it would force you to collect all the materials again, I know. However, would it force everyone who uses that account to collect materials on that PS3?

So, like, if I read you correctly, everyone has access to the same account... Then they'd need to unlock everything they need on their PS3 in order to tobtain those materials in game?

And another thing, we would need to copy them to the planet. Then, I assume we coudl then copy them to My Moon regardless of it it's copyable or not if it's the same account... right?

Alrighty guys. I have some information on five areas that are probably going to be in the game. All updates to the game will be posted in the first message of the thread for easy finding. Also the PSN has been created. If you want to submit ideas secretly then you can always message the PSN, but I would prefer your ideas displayed here because you may spark other peoples ideas.

You can use a game save to unlock all of the materials.

Would this PSN mean that only 1 person could create at a time? Unless you captured entire levels as objects and sent them to the RPG PSN.

01-26-2009, 09:17 PM
Alright so hmm. I just now found out about the PSN problem. And I don't want to make levels copyable because then anyone could steal them. This does pose a problem. I will look more into user and PSN account things and get back to yall.

RockSauron
01-26-2009, 09:26 PM
Well, I posted a suggestion but I guess it wasn't coherant enough:

Not copyable, but, if it's the SAME PSN, then shouldn't it be able to be downloaded to THAT PSN's moon?

So you place it up for uncopyable, and place it on the planet.

Then shouldn't anyone with that PSN be able to have the same options to download it to their planet, regardless of if it's copyable or not?

Thus, anyone with the RPG PSN can, thus, copy it to their moon- at least the RPG one?

I believe that's correct, meyess?

Anyway, may want to start trying to colect as much as possible on that PSN soon so we can use everything :/.

Yep that would work. It would have to organised so that two people don't edit the same level and republish over the other person's edit.

K, good, then we have a solution until Online Creation is out :).

However, we may need to establish "turns" so to speak... So that maybe someone has to tell the rest of the group before they do anything to a level...

Also, if this gets big enough, maybe we can seperate people into groups to work on specific areas... would have to figure out how they interact with eachother to create one giant masterpiece out of seperate puzzle pieces...

Also, I REALLY think we should make a progression chart, so to speak, of the basic layout. Maybe start out with just levels (so you start off in, say, Sack City) and you gain quests which give you keys, and from there you just brnach off, getting keys to open up new areas, and stickers to open up new areas IN those areas.

Alright I think we need to do a test with the psn right quick before anything else happens. Or if you already know the answer then tell me. I know you can log on to other PS3s with the same PSN but the question comes up do you have all the materials and levels that you had on the other PS3 or do you have to transfer those somehow?

I'm not too sure myself, but I don't think so...

We could always test... or you can post a help thread in the help section...

Well I can't get on my PS3 anymore to experiment with this because my little sister is on it. I will try and figure something out later. But if it comes down to it we will need to copy the level to our own moon.

RockSauron
01-26-2009, 10:31 PM
So you mean changing the levels on our OWN PSN instead of the RPG PSN?

LordCanti07
01-27-2009, 02:02 AM
Alright guys I fell asleep earlier but I woke up because I found out how it was all going to work. Basically if you are part of the team, you will create a new user on your PS3 named LandOfCloth. Then I will give you the PSN log in details. Then you will go to your other user on your PS3 that has pretty much everything on LBP. You will then go to Games->Saved Data Utility->LBP then press triangle and select copy. You will move it to the newly created LandOfCloth user. You won't be able to get trophies but you will have everything that you had enabling you to create. Then a team member will notify the team when they are going to change something in the world. When they do everyone will look it over and decide if they like it. At that point if a majority likes it then it will stay and everyone will copy the new version to their moon and increase the version number of the map. This will help keep everything sorted and what not. I may eventually let anyone be part of the team once I have the base world layed down into foundation because this system causes everyone who really cares about the project to have a back up. But then again anyone could be a real jerk and change the password to the PSN. So I don't know what to do. That is my real problem right there the security of the PSN. I just have to assemble a team of trustworthy people and if someone does lock up the PSN then I will just have to start this project over myself and do it all alone asking only for ideas from other users.

Madafaku
01-27-2009, 02:09 AM
I think (or at least hope) most people are trustworthy enough to not do that. but IDK some people are ***holes just for the sake of being ***holes. soo yea Im not sure, I guess your best bet is to use the honor system, and if somone does change the password, you should still have everything thats been created on your moon, you could copy it to a different PSN, and like you said go it alone and just take Ideas. I really hope noone will be that mean though, I think a community project like this has amazing potential!

I've been looking for something like this for awhile. I was going to attempt this with my Knight's Tale series, but lost some ambition due to the effort level I've put into my last installment and the poor plays/hearts it's recieved (1 in 9-10 or so).

I'm a HUGE rpg fan and I can bring some very neat ideas to the table I'm sure. I'm also a very experienced creator with a number of levels showcased on these forums and a co-op made level created with over 80 hours put into the level (SEMINAL GEMINI). If you want me on the team just let me know and I can get working on a part in the series :) PM me with a yay or nay!

LordCanti07
01-27-2009, 02:58 AM
The team has yet to be assembled and the foundation for the world has yet to be made. I was thinking of another security measure just a while ago. Where I would change the password everytime someone used it that way people would need to get the password from me to use it again. I would just hate to have to do this alone so I need security measures. Right now is the planning stage for the world though so if you can think of ideas for areas creatures quests that sort of thing then post them and they may be added to the world. I gotta take a shower right quick and I will be on to talk for a little bit more before I have to go to work.

Edit: It will never be to late to join. New members can be added to the team once the team assembles but it has not been assembled yet.

so as of right now, the main bad guy is the dragon?? or is it whoevers in charge of the factory? ooo what if whoever controlls the factory also controls the dragon? then you go through the factory to get to the dragon stage, get the sticker from the dragon that will open the room to the final boss... or some jazz like that, enforcing replayability...

also a credit level would be good, much like the MM credits, just to showcase everyone who worked on it...

ummm lets see as far as creatures, everthings created in the factory, soo I assume like mostly robotic creatures.. although zombie sackpeople could be interesting too..

other areas : besides the five you already have, others that might be nice... a battlefeild where the army of sack city defend their home against the encroaching bad guys...
a frozen wilderness where you have to venture to meet some sort of oracle or somthing... a ruined city where you have to search through the wreckage of what was once the third largest sackpeople city, to find a lone survivor, or object, or somthing...

umm thats all I have now... be back later with more ideas

LordCanti07
01-27-2009, 03:31 AM
The dragon is not the main baddy just like balrog is not the main baddy of LotR, he is just an awesome boss that exists in the world and there will be other awesome bosses that exist in the world. Stonehead (the dragon) has been around before the factory was built he is made out of Stone not metal so the factory did not create him. He just lives in his nook using the wonderous treasure that is behind him as bait for sackventurers that way he can eat them while staying safe in his cave.

LordCanti07

Alright you have brought life ideas for 2 new areas. Your location on the battlefield is off though. It would be between Thimble Town and Bolt Factory now for a name, how bout Battlecloth lol. I don't know if people will get it so if yall could think of a better name it would be appreciated. Now for the third largest sack city ruins name, how bout Lint Village. Also thinking of a name has sparked ideas for three more areas. One is an ancient civilization called Floatopia that has used mystical materials to create their land since the Land was a mere ball of yarn. And there will be an area above Sack City that connects the two and an area above Thimble Town and Bolt Factory that connects the three. In case yall want to know the world looks just like LBPs world which is Earth and these areas are located on land on Earth. Sack City was going to be in North America, Dragon's Nook was going to be in South America(maybe), Thimble Town was going to be in Europe, Bolt Factory was going to be in East Asia, and Spool Canyon was going to be somewhere in the middle but slightly to the south. I am going to post a picture of the world either in a little bit or some time tommorow after work.

Edit: Ohh yeah a credits level ok guys so one level will be a credits level.

RockSauron
01-27-2009, 12:22 PM
I don't like a credit level :(. We need as many as possible...

Wait... when you say we won't be able to gain trophies, do you mean JUST for the landofcloth one, or the main one? I don't care about trophies for the landofcloth one, but for my main one... :/

Edit: and I'm trustworthy... go ahead, I'm one of the most well known users here or something, so I wouldn't DARE risk it by ruining my rep or whatever... Plus i'm not even evil to begin with...

You'll be able to get trophies on your own PSN just not the game save one.

To fix the security problem all you need to do is create a PSN with a date of birth and security question that only you know LordCanti. This way no one can take the password without you being able to change it back.

K, good, as long as I manage to be able to still get LBP trophies on my MAIN one- obviously don't care about on that one :/.

Anyway, I'm going to commit myself to this project, so I'll be sending a Friend Request to both LordCanti's PSN and the LandofCloth PSN, so... Yep.

That's awesome Killian. I guess I gotta remake the PSN because my security question would be pretty obvious. Thanks alright well I will be able to share the PSN with everyone on the Team at least but we will still need to tell each other when we are going to edit something and then review it and decide to make it final or not. The team will begin to assemble read the first post for more info.

BTW I just got home from work and I don't have to go to bed any time soon at all so I will be on for a while sorting alot of stuff out.

Edit: Alright so I don't have to change anything cuz you also need to know the birthday I entered into it and I didn't enter my birthday so whoever wanted to change it would have to guess the birthday and the answer to the security question. I just hope that never happens.

Double Edit: Before I begin to work on the world and such I will be creating a level called LBPhysics that I hope everyone will play and learn from. I will also hopefully be able to turn it into a movie so everyone can use. It will explain everything about the LBPhysics and I will ask that you use this when creating in the world. But first of course. I have to figure out the Physics myself. I already know most of the distance ones but wait and such is beyond me at the moment.

Well you are part of the team now so you will have access to the PSN once I lay the foundation of the world down.

Edit: If anyone else wants to join the team please follow the steps listed in the first thread at the bottom.

Double Edit: A map of the world so far has been added to the first thread for those interested on what it is looking like and how things are connected.

Just a quick update on things that have gone down today. I have added alot of stuff to the first thread so take a look through it and come up with thoughts.

I have finally decided on how to handle the team and the maps. I will ultimately control the LandOfCloth PSN that will have the most current versions of the map released. The Team will control another PSN which I will create tommorow and give the team the password to it then. Doing all this will help maintain the actual version that everyone plays because they will just have to look for the author LandOfCloth and be able to find all the levels of the world and if we need to do updates and stuff we will need to publish the level for everyone to copy back and if a user plays that level and we don't want it out then it could run into some problems so we need to have a seperate PSN with all locked levels that only we have access too and that we can edit any time.

As far as levels I think I will be sticking with 7 levels to start out with and those will be Sack City, Dragon's Nook, Thimble Town, Battlecloth, Bolt Factory, Spool Canyons, and Credits. We will mainly work on those so we can release the game and people will start playing it. Then we will do expansions that will include new areas. The first expansion will include Floatopia and the two question mark areas on the map(I need names and descriptions for these areas, remember they need to tie in whatever they are connected to in some way). We will also be updating existing levels adding new areas to them and new quests to access these areas.

Layout of my plans for tomorrow. Create the team PSN and distribute log in info, hopefully begin laying down the foundation of the 7 release levels. I will then let yall run through the levels 1 at a time and add stuff to them. I would prefer it if yall used the small grid when creating stuff in the world. It just helps so much when organizing stuff and what not. Now when you add to the world you will be adding to the foundation and be sure to use the base materials for landscaping and stuff but building can be whatever material you want. You will not be adding monsters or npcs or things like that for they do not exist yet. You will mainly be making the landscape more beautiful. If you want to make baddies and npcs and things like that, then make them in a new level on your moon under the User that you will be logging into the Team PSN with and create things there and save them as objects. When I release the foundations for the maps I will also be releasing a object level that will just be a collection of prize bubbles of the current look of monsters npcs bosses and what not. We will all add to this level and take from this level so we have a base for our objects in the world that way we aren't trying to recreate someone elses stuff. Once we do reach the maximum of 20 published levels then this one will have to go to make room for another. But untill then it will be used. So if you are planning on adding monsters and whatever else to the game that isn't scenic then put it in a level on your moon and copy it as an object. Also be sure to name your objects that way we dont have alot of some kind of objects in our community section.

@RockSauron I wasn't able to detach your orc monster from the message but when I release the objects level then you can add it there as a prize bubble and I will look at it.

On a side note I would appreciate feedback on the ideas presented in the first thread such as the Seasonal Events under Other.

Alright, for an idea... hows about in each map/section there's a secret room that has a sign and level keys for the levels and names of the team members that helped with that section?

Maybe we should brainstorm all the quests and the story, along with draw up some maps so everything is made so that it already intertwines and doesn't need to be altered as we go along.

I love the Idea of the seasonal changes, It would add alot of replay value just to go in and all the NPCs are wearing halloween costumes or somthing, somone should probably keep a copy of the original level though, just so after the holiday it could easily be changed back..

Oh and an idea I had earlier today... youve already beaten all the levels, gotten the stickers, go back to the bolt factory for the secont (third?) time to fight the final boss... you enter his lair, defeat his henchmen, and OMG he runs away... (sinister people are so cowardly somtimes) but whats this, another key??? you have just unlocked the final level... the biggest creation ever made in the bolt factory... this walking bohemoth of a robot was created as a weapon of mass destruction, to finally end all those little sackpeople once and for all. The creator had hesitated to release it, thinking that his robots would eventually win the battle... but since you have foiled the bosses plans once again, he has left and is now pushing his most evil creation strait toward sack city.. your only hope is to climb into this gigantic robot, and destroy it from the inside... once the creature is shut down for good, you finally get to kill the boss (which wont be easy with his advanced battle armor)

soo yea I just thought that would be pretty cool.. like imagine the level from god of war where you go through the ginormous level thats strapped to the dudes back... somthing with that sort of a feel, Like the entire level is pretty much the inner workings of this giant robot.

Well, here was the monster I was trying to build- was going to be an orc, but we can call it Roborc.

A creature shaped like an orc- it has a spear that moves in one plane in front of it. The spear has an electro point. The spear is glued to a material being moved by a piston inside the Roborc, with a thin layer in between a'la Libidus. So, thus, you have to jump over the spear moving forward and backward, then jump up it's back to destroy it's brain, which will also move.

Yeah, that's what I have so far.

LordCanti07
01-28-2009, 01:40 PM
@Trap I don't want to have a room where all the keys are in the game, but we can have the names of those wo worked on that section.

@Madafaku For the season idea, everyones my moon is ginormous so the team will have all the original levels at all time. We will just copy a level to a different space on the moon and make it festive then I will republish the final products for the holiday then when the holiday is over I will republish the originals. Also holidays may be longer in Land Of Cloth than what they are in real life. That final boss idea is a cool thing and I was thinking it would be cooler as an expansion later on in the game.

@RockSauron Alrighty I will get to work on Roborc which I assume means he is a Boltinion.

For one of the blank levels- either one since they're both in cold regions...- we could make a snow level. Let's see...

Fluff Mountain- A dangerous pass located between Sack City and Floatopia, this region is the coldest in the world. Now, all who inhabit this frozen wasteland are the Yetis, strange creatures who can live in such snow, and enjoy throwing snowballs and generally attacking passerby. When nobody comes in a while, they go to neighboring towns to steal valuables.

Which could then be used as a quest idea for rescuing valuables for someone. Throwing snowballs would probably be them pushing snowballs, perhaps down a hill- it would squish those who step near it, so you'd need to hide in a seperate plane until it passes.

LordCanti07

Great idea RockSauron and so it shall be done. The snowballs could also be blue plasma balls lol.

New boss Idea,
If stonehead is the ancient evil dragon, I assume a very large creature that you would have to destroy all of his brains on his back (inside mouth, along belly) to destroy him.. If there is an ancient evil dragon, would it be safe to assume there is also an ancient good dragon? this one is basically the polar opposite of stone head.. however he acts not as a boss himself, but as more of a rescue mission... The ancient dragon (not sure of the polar oposite of stone is, so havent thought of a name.) he has lived a peiceful joyous life for centuries, but lately has had his happyness shattered by the invading troops of the boltfactory. they try to controll the dragon to make him bend to their will.. so essentially you have to kill all the robots that have invaded his relm, and once you do he becomes a valuable ally in your fight agains the boltforces... (you place a sticker and a giant dragons head swoops in and destroys a wall giving you acess to another room...

Bad guy ideas
Bolt soldier- the standard unit in the evil bolt army, most plentiful in battlecloth, these are just regular robots, probably using electicity as its primary weapon.
Bolt soldier Elite- these are much tougher than the standard bolt soldier. although they look almost identical, they move at a much faster rate, and have the addition of a small, shoulder mounted, plasma riffle.
Bolt tank- The basic orrdinance/seige weapon in the boltarmy, these deadly contraptions reak havok on the land with there multifire plasma guns.
Sackslaves- one of the most evil creations in the bolt army. there are basically sacksoldiers who have been captured/killed in combat, taken back to the boltfactory, and rebuilt/reprogramed as a bolt soldier. (think evil robocop)
Heavy Bolttank- Much like the standard bolt tank, these are more heavy duty (extra brains) and have the addition of a tactical missle launcher. (searchlight connected to rocket launcher?)
Black Guard- these elite of the elite bolt soldiers are battle tested, upgraded, and essentially the best standard unit the bolt army has to offer. found guarding the bolt factory itself, they are rarely seen on the battlefield. Although they have been used for tactical/recon missions in some other areas of interest. (the bolt armys answer to the navy seal)

NPC ideas
Sack soldier- seen mainly on the battlesack battlefield, these troops represent the resistance to the beseiging forces of the bolt army.
Sack General- Not seen on the battlefeild as much, these dedicated troops have the daunting task of sending thousands of sack soldiers to there likely death.
Sack City Counsel - this small group of seven or eight of the wisest of sackpeople rule over sack city, make all the tough decisions, and do whatever they can to ensure the safety of sack city... unfortunately not all the counsel members are as ethical as one might hope, infact it has been recently speculated that atleast one of the members may be on the boltfactories payroll...

...more to come...

yes yes YESSSSSSS Ideas are flowing. lolOL

Alright well the polar opposite of stone is... you guessed it SACK. lol cloth materials. So his name shall be Threadragon. lol I love sack parodies. He will exist in an are that comes with the second expansion. The second expansion will include Lint Village and 2 more areas around it including one where Threadragon resides.

Now the baddies...
Bolt Soldier... Check
Bolt Soldier Elite... Check
Bolt Tank... Check but uses missles not plasma.
Heavy Bolt Tank... X
Sack Slaves... Check but kinda sounds bad so name change eventually.
Black Guard... Check

NPCs
Sack Soldier... Check
Sack General... Check
Sack Counsel...Check

Other NPCs
Sack Lord-He is the leader of sack city and changes in the event of the previous sack lord's permanent death. It is widely known that sack people do come back to life at checkpoint, but there are ways to permanently kill sack people, and the Bolt Factory knows how to do this best. He is usually kept in his domain, and he receives advice from the counsel about offical sack matters.

Threadragon-He has been a beacon of hope for the sack people for many generations, but has been recently captured by the Boltinions and is being held captive in his own sanctuary. He is quite the powerful beast, and his power is rivaled only by Stonehead as far as dragonic power, but Bolt Factory does well to suppress that.

Updates on progress: Well right now I am trying to mainly focus on Sack City and building that because that will be the start location of all. I was also thinking of an start point system. Where players start in a box and have to place a sticker on an area they want to start as if they were coming from, but they have to have the sticker for that area. The start point will be attached to however many winches there are in the area. When they choose a start area, the other winches will break and they will be pulled across the map to that area and the thing holding them will dissolve. But I thought this might be a little ridiculous so we would need to designate a start point for each level. Probably the main are that it is named after, like the Sack City level isn't just one big level devoted to sack city. You can explore the area around Sack City and make your way to the pier to the east or to the volcanoe to the west. I'm thinking we won't do the start area select thing unless yall really want it.

Madafaku
01-29-2009, 04:33 AM
hmm yea i was thinking about it, the level start trick would answer a problem I had (namely about having to defeat the whole level everytime you got a new sticker) however It seems like it may be really complicated and confusing to everyone.. and also going back through the level would have its advantages, like realism, you really dont need to start the level right where you want to be. and also the bad guys would be back, just like in "real life?" you shoot the bouncer at the nightclub, there gonna hire another one eventually (probably a bad example, bouncer rock!) but yea so i think we should probably leave the start point stationary *unless everyone else really wants it*

LordCanti07
01-29-2009, 04:51 AM
@Bass yeah if you wanna join and help with technical systems and what not then that would be peachey with me. Where some fail to see a way to do something, others find the way so the more we have the better chance we can do it.

Alright so some quick updates before I go to sleep.
No Start System, one reason is because just laying the foundation for the Sack City level is becoming thermomically intense.
Where I am on laying the foundation: I have created the entrance to the Dragon's Nook, and I have almost finished construction on Sack City itself.
Plans for Tommorow:Finish laying down the foundation for the Sack City Area, and give yall the PSN Details so yall can look through the environment and make it look prettier one at a time. I will handle this by people posting I want to edit it as soon as they read this message and it will be first posted first edited. I will keep track of who is editing it in the social group but post here for requesting to edit. I am really hopeing to get down laying the foundation for at least one level tomorrow as long as my little sister stays off the T.V. she was on it all morning so I couldn't do anything and my brother was on this computer. Remember to be thermo friendly to the environment. We need to keep room for plenty of triggers for quests and emitters for baddy spawn areas and sticker switches for opening areas and npcs throughout the land.

Be excellent to each other, and party on dudes.

Baddies -

The yetis, that live in Fluff Mountain, are extremely annoying to the people that pass by. They use devious tactics such as rolling snowballs and cracked ice to hurt passbyers, for their own entertainment. They mainly use snowballs to hurt their enemies. When they are not planning attacks on innocent people, they like to go into neighboring towns to steal valuables.

How is that? :p

I had a similar idea but it's good to see that multiple people are working together as it should mean that the finished result is miles better than what i could have ever made :)

Although it's probably too late here are some ideas I had:

*Instead of classes have roles; make it so that (Bosses in particular) one person can say, grab a pad and that will limit the movement or rate of fire of an enemy then another can go for the paintgun and another can use stickers to bring down shields where people need protection.

*Have some areas repeatable but they become harder. Rather than going for the levelling approach of RPG's go for prestige like COD. Once you've beaten the last boss you get a sticker that when used in previous levels unlocks new areas that in turn give more levels which starts the cycle again (quite thermometer heavy).

*Don't have every level being a quest. While the majority should be quests have a few side missions like an alchemy level where you have to combine ingredients in the right order to win a sticker which can be used to kill enemies and such. Another idea might be completing a challenge to get into some brotherhood that unlocks a sticker to call in help during fights.

Might still be able to fit in some bits; but good luck in whatever you do.

Alright well don't edit it yet, but go ahead and look at it everyone, the landscaping is mostly done I still need to do some work above ground. I am going to PM you PSN details, then I have to go to work. Copy the level to any circle in your moon that has 6 slots because we will be releasing 6 levels when they are ready. We will really be releasing 7 but the credits level doesn't really count and it will have its own space in the moon. The thermo on the map is already slightly more than half full with just landscaping and it has me worried about wether or not this is going to be possible but we will see. But for now just go ahead and check it out so far when you get the chance.

RockSauron

I just check this out myself, and I must say that right now it seems fairly good- I like the look of sackcity, and found the hidden passage in the palace which we will probably be able to use for something.

I first ran around in it before copying it to my moon, where I saw the other areas we had, which suprised me. We may need to think about reducing the blank area...

Anyway, just so you know, I think that I'll be able to edit the level and stuff on my main PSN, but I won't.

Alright I am home from work. I know that the level wasn't totally finished. I mainly finished Sack City, the entrances to Dargon's Nook and Thimble Town, and the two underground areas are the Abandoned Mines (Left) and the Ancient Ruins (right). I plan on having the mines infested with spiders or something like that and the ruins roaming with wolves. Now I do need stuff above ground but I haven't decided really what to put up there. Maybe some rolling green hills to the right and some barren mini mountains to the left. Here is how it is gonna go down right now. Yall can edit freely but publish yall levels locked of course and don't overwrite anyone elses level or anything like that. Feel free to overwrite one you have previously made but dont overwrite another persons. Then I will review all of your submissions. We will be able to do this for all of the levels that we are going to release as long as we deal with one level at a time which is how I decided to do this finally. That way we don't have to take turns creating. We can all create at once. Then I will take what I like the most as long as it isn't to thermo ugly. Be sure to follow the basic material set that I have listed in the first thread. Do not go over 75% thermo because I don't know how much thermo all the quests and sticker things will take. Also I found this amazing thread posted about teleporters and I am thinking that we are going to use that as our start system. You will have to paste a sticker of the area you want to start in and that teleporter will open. I just have to figure out how it works on my own so it won't constitue as stealing. But just so yall know yall can start editing the terrain but the terrain only. Don't put switch triggers or NPCs or baddies in, those will all come once the foundation has been laid down. Thank yall. Have a nice day.

Edit:Alright so Madafaku has a problem with my level. He said it contained DL material so he couldn't edit it. I am thinking that what happened was everytime I use dissolve material in a stoney environment, I use a certain sticker and that sticker just so happens to be from the God of War pack, so when you guys do edit the levels. Be sure that you don't use any DL content. Also Madafaku I think thats it and I changed it so everyone copy the new published one onto your current one before you all begin editing. Thank you very much and be excellent to each other.

Yea man that seemed to do the trick, Alright I just had a chance to look around at everything in the level and I have to say, I dont like it...

*Gets in car and drives away, then calls you on a cellphone 10 minuits later*

I love it!... man it looks awesome, I cant wait till we pump some life into sack city... Loved the secret passageway..

Oh and on the underground tunnels on the left, whats that big rock for? I mean I love the concept and it seems really cool, but you got any ideas yet what it will be used for?

so yea mostly just needs some scenery, landscaping, somthing to break up that long flat walk outside of the city... but yea man Im totally excited, cant wait to get to work. Might start a "land of cloth workshop" level tonight, just to screw around, making robots and whatnot... but yea awesome work man!

Me and Trap had a go at it today, It's pretty nice, for a layout, everyone should keep in mind that it will be filled with decorations/scenery/NPCs/ and what not. I'll probably start creating mine Saturday or something, what I dont like about this whole idea of everyone creating their own level is, this...

What if for example, one person creates a really good section, but the rest of his level sucks :p

While another person, has another creative section.

What would you do then? I'm just curious as what you will do because I'm pretty sure a time will come when you have two amazing things, and it is only wise to use both of them you know?

I will layer the good things together into one level. As for the rock in the mine to the left. I plan on using it in a quest just like the secret passageway in the castle.

I would really appreciate it if I could help. Couldn't you just publish the levels as locked and copyable, then give the keys to people that need to create?

Also, I think it would be really cool if there were 2-3 ways to play through the RPG (like lots of WRPGS)

And, if anyone wants, I have a working LoZ Hookshot! It has a hollow glass spearhead that has an emmiter, emits dark matter in the head and dissolves the base. It needs to use a piston though...

As the story goes, a LoZ type story with seven sages/temples/stones would be the best. I think that we would want to try and keep the levels similair with feel, rather than loosely based levels with varying quality.

EDIT: I haven't read up on the story too much, but I caught something of robots/bolt factory or something similair. Here Are some enemy ideas:

An enemy that has a giant wheel/cog that is electric, but with one of the parts un-electric, that you must stand on to jump on its head. You could make it spin 720 degrees with a wobble bolt, so you have to get it while it goes clockwise.

I have a great idea for a rowing boat/waka/canoe where: the rowers row their oars in time, with one oar having a mag-key set to speed, so that the boat goes fastest when the oars are in the water, and underneath the boat, conected via thin planes and hidden, a block of glass on a track, with a rocket on back that the speed switch is attatched to.

I presume you're going for a Zelda type feel, as far as RPG goes, rather than an actualy turnbased level? For bosses, I have a few ideas that I could share.

I would REALLY REALLY like to be a part of this, and although I am a new user, you can trust me with this!

I would like to do one level of the main quest for a start, with a snowy plane, entering an underwater ruin, exiting out a cave where the gods help you escape via a boat.

You could add this as a simple retrival mission for somebody, as a favor etc, before they cough up the information?!?

I sincerely hope you decide to let me be apart of this!

Guys I am going to drop out of this project.

I just don't have the energy to do this nor do I have the creative power.

What I find that I lack and the reason why I usually don't finish anything is motivation and there is no motivation to do this.

For things like the Set the Scene! contest and things of that nature, I have motivation because I get something out of it. But for this project, if yall want yall can carry it out, but I am withdrawing from this. If you need the LandOfCloth PSN details and would like to continue this project as its leader then PM me.

Sorry to let you guys down, but it is in my nature to let people down.

This would've been one of the most innovative projects that would've ever happened on LittleBigPlanet. Shame that it's being let down. Hmm... tell you what. Hows about you pull up a competition of some sort, giving people the chance to prove their salt by publishing a level that proves they have what it takes to lead the project. Knowing the creativeness of most people, I'd probably be eliminated by before the actual competition. But of course, this is just a suggestion to a solution. Still, it's sad to see a big project go down. (Or not.;] )

OK, well I really hope LordCanti changes his mind about this.. but either way Im willing to continue the project..

hope that goes for the rest of the people who are already on the team aswell...

speaking of, anyone on the team who wants to check it out, I added an area in antarctica call land of cloth workbench, basically just a staging area for objects bad guys npcs, and the like... I took the liberty of designing a few (very beta, mosly just to determine the basic workings/ kill method) monsters.. give it a shot, Make them better, Make more...

If this project ends up being continued, wether by Canti or someone else, count me in, if you would.

My main skill when it comes to LBP, is making machines. Regardless of exactly what you want something to do, I can almost always find a way to make the game do it. The main example of my work right now is my level "Boss: Danmaku Rave". There's a thread for it in the showcase.

That being said Im also good at making boss fights.

I am however not good at making things look pretty, lol. Never have been. And sometimes I'll miss a bug somewhere that I really should have seen.

I do also have a bit of a tendancy to overdo the difficulty; being that what I consider "easy" often isnt what others consider easy. So if I make something, someone else will need to test it a bit and tell me if I've made it too difficult.

Anyway, Canti, I really hope you continue along with this project. Honestly, I dont think it'll be nearly as hard to do as you seem to think it will be..... Now, if you were doing this all on your own, then yeah, it'd be freaking hard. But that's what you'd have a team here for. If there's something you want made, you dont have to do it yourself.... you could ask one of the others to do it. You'd be able to work on the parts that you want to. A good team should make this not too hard at all (though it'll likely still take awhile).

Also, I dont think you need to worry TOO much about anyone on here trying to steal your work or something. From what I've seen, basically everyone on here is really nice and friendly and stuff. I cant say that for most forums I've been to.

If you dont wanna continue the project though, at least choose someone else to run it; I think this idea really has promise and could be a very, very interesting community project.

Shermzor
02-01-2009, 10:06 AM
I was hoping this project would go well :(

You're motivation should be making a **** fine and innovative project. If you made a massive RPG, even with only 4 levels you could still dominate the community section and give something that is replayable and fun amongst all the trash in community (that said been looking at LBPC people's work, all great).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Timmy would always say "Aww shucks conscience. There's nothing to play, it's all levels made of dark matter and with prize bubbles full of story mode objects" Then when magically they found your series never again would little Timmy need to search all night for a great level; he'd go straight to you. He'd get his friends to go through and replay levels just to unlock that extra raid or challenge.

The community wants; nay, it needs this project! With the community behind you every time you take a tumble they will be there giving you hints and help to get you back up and creating the best project LBP will see for years!

All future RPG's will look at this for guidance and they'll say every time they reach a problem "Well I'm going to get through this, it's been done before and I'll be ****ed if I can't repeat the great actions done by those artists and engineers who made this masterpiece to make my small token of appreciation to those great people".

So that is your motivation! Fame, glory and knowing you've made something that the people at MM will admire and praise!

Little big planet will not be Play Create Share:
It shall be Role-Play
Create-Potions
and Share the Loot !!!

Sorry about that, got a book of great speeches by me and got carried away

I know a few of us would be willing to take charge on it, i guess its up to canti who actually does. Who ever ends up taking the lead on the project though I think its still going to be an awesome set of levels. Im going to put some more work into it in just a bit, but probably wont put anything up until we figure out exactly whats going on...
Happy Super Bowl everyone!@

L4D is pretty awesome. I am almost through with my hunt. I had most of them before I started hunting so I am just finishing up the hardest ones.

After that I will be back to Land of Cloth.

I really hope it isn't too late to jump in, I'd love to be involved in a project like this.
I could help with baddie design and level transitions/cinematics. I could possibly make a few puzzles too.

Ei, you should have made the PSN Sack Lord. So it would be like the MM levels (Skate to Glory by The King).

The main hub (Sack City) should be multi-path. Like you couldn't even predict that path actually exists and it will appear when you start a quest. After the quest, you get the key to open another level or a sticker to use in another level.

I would love to be a part of this!

Well if you really are going to can it then I will certainly try to carry it on. As I said earlier I had planned to do something similar so i already have all the ideas.

That said because of my coursework and exams I'm not going to touch this issue for a few months.

Gimme a day or two I am still organizing my life. Results should be produced within that time frame.

Good to hear :D . I'm having the same sort of thing with making my Machinima; just make sure you have everything clear before you move one otherwise you'll get tripped up again.

I had planned to use my half term to make the second episode of my Machinima but forgot coursework; because of this I've messed up both peices of work ><
