I would like more themed objects like small realistic Temples, Trees like pine-trees, palm trees, cactuses other plants, Pirate ships, Skyscrapers, Planets, Mountains, Big stones, Grassy hills, Waterfalls, Corals, and many more things. These things would look great in level backgrounds and they sould have their own section in the goodies-bag named Background.

I would also like to see different settings for fire and smoke.

This is the exact reason I buy level packs, more generic objects to work with; Ability to make MORE

we need more generic objects, rather than things we can use very rarely in objects as decoration, and as a theme

Looking at the selection of consumables in this game, I think we ARE going to get far more themed objects.

I never use the objects that are provided to us. I don't find any of the useful to the themes of my levels. But I could work with trees as such, trees will always be welcomed!

There seems plenty here to make your own trees:

Did you take that picture because I know from the top-down race gates its not LBP 2. Which would mean you breakin da rulez!

Also most of the foliage stuff is mushrooms and leafs. Good for top-down not for platformers with a more realistic art-style than the less-than realistic-ish type of LBP.

I believe that is from the Gamejam photos.

Also. You can put stickers at angles and on top of materials.

I know you can. This topic is about objects not decorations so the mere fact that he suggested I use decorations not objects is completely irrelevant to said. Now, is this going back on topic or what?

Well no need for the attitude, but to clarify. You use the decorations to decorate a custom-made tree. And then use methods to make the stickers seem as if they are interactive.

Maybe the way I wrote the post read aggressively but it wasn't intended. Can we get back to topic now since in the space of 19 hours we were able to completely redirect the topic from objects to stickers and decorations?

Alrighty. So! Back on topic. The reason why the stickers and decorations are important to this discussion is because you can make some of the things yourself using the stickers and decorations. It is as if you are getting those new unique trees, items, objects, and stuff by making them yourself.

For example. In one of my levels, I put a pipe decoration on a hologram and then used invisible material to make the decoration seem solid. It is as if it's a completely new object. If you were to make a simple base for a new object, let's say trees since we are on those at the moment, or trunk for the tree, then we use the new stickers and decorations to decorate the trunk into our own new tree.

This can be done for nearly every decoration. And with some of those new editable shapes, like the cylinder, making our own unique objects may be even easier to accomplish. Not to mention, with things like the decoration spinner and possibly new decoration mounts, we can get unique angles and turn 'objects' around. We don't have to rely on the solid pre-made objects anymore, and just use the invisible material with the decorations.

Personally, I say we need more decorations than we need objects. And have decorations tweakable, or possibly even stickerable (By stickers or maybe more decorations; decorations on decorations) to where we can change their colors or have more control over them. Or heck. Make our own decorations, which I think someone has mentioned before in another thread.

Imagine if we had a couch decoration that we made ourselves, and could place it any way we wanted. Then with some invisible material, it's now a 'solid' object!

There are exploits that allow us to change the color of the decorations. Some decorations even change color depending on the color of the material, in this case Hologram. But having a tool that allows us to do it easier is very welcomed by me.

There is an entire thread about being able to create your own decorations. For arguments sake lets say we could use a 3D modelling software to create our own objects and decorations using meshes. They'd have to allow us to have our own textures too but that's a thread for another day.

I'm not really a fan of those exploits. At least, the current ones anyways. Too many times have i ran into the issue where those exploits get in the way. Like one of the pipes and the glow bulb in a stalk mixed with hologram. The pipe and bulb on the stalk light up according to the holo, which means the holo needs to also become visible in order to light up the bulb or pipe. You can hide it, but it takes up a thin layer to hide it if that bulb or pipe is in a certain spot, and you want to be able to turn the bulb on and off.

And yes, another thread. Although the solution to this thread may be in that other thread. The need for solid objects has essentially been wiped away with the mix of decorations and invisible material.

That may be so for creators but there are still players out there that aren't too well adjusted to the methods of creating your own objects. Young and new players to the game, not all will think of using decorations with invisible material to create their visuals. Some will, but not most. There are even users who make levels without decorations and still use only objects. Most of my friends only use objects and I'm not sure why. To be honest there not that good at the game but they've played it for many years. Some longer than I have.

There are also objects that we cannot make ourselves like the skateboard. Objects are far more detailed than what we are able to make with the exception to those few who are able to create very visually impressive stuff. I will admit I'm not very good with creating visuals but more of the logic guy. Its really the best thing I do. So when I can use the rare object here and there I will because decorations, some are useful but I find most aren't.

Hmmmmmm... What if.......

We had the choice of using objects as decorations as well? And for some decorations, vice-versa.

It seems your struggling to find a way to oppose me! But I would agree having decoration versions of most objects would be good. I'm not sure what to write about now.

Nah. I do not oppose, I go for a compromise. You had a point with new and inexperienced creators. The invisible material would serve as an advanced tactic in level creating, where the simple objects would be for anyone to use. Even those who wish to just go wild with objects and not really focus on the more advanced level making. Some DO just want to make levels to make levels and have fun. The only real 'example' I can think of in what I mean is like how in MvC, they have two modes. The simple and advanced controls.

Having objects be able to become decorations gives the advanced creators access to those 'objects', without having to limit the objects to their usual one angle! Everyone wins! :V *poppers and confetti!*

Well... We could talk about the need for more themed/unique decorations!

Everybody does win. Not sure about the developers though, they must get real bored sometimes.

I very specific theme I'd like for more decorations is apocalyptic or steam punk. Either would make me happy as both can be used for one another but I want these decorations the most. The Nightmare Before Christmas pack provided me with some very useful materials but I need decorations like the pipe decoration that they released.

Do you have any thoughts?
