I have come up with an idea to make an area/level of LBP in the form of an rpg. Right now, it is only an idea and i came here in search of someone who is experienced with creating LBP levels. I have been looking through the options and it appears it is not impossible, currently i am trying to figure out a class selection system system consisting of editing the tools in certain ways and creating custom costume sets to go along with it and having them in an item bubble form to be collected. So far, it may just be the same just taking advantage of the quest screen. But as for the classes, it will just be the basic classes from most rpgs; warrior/swordsmen, mage, healer, archer/ranger/gunslinger, monk, thief, and dancer. I am not sure if the full blown rpg is possible, but what i have named i know have a chance/are more possible to pull off. If you wish to help out send me a message or just simply respond to this.

It most certainly is possible, but it is not exactly easy considering it is a lot of management of the level itself (depending on what direction you are taking the RPG). I can't answer a lot of your questions especially regarding the classes specifically as I do not know how your combat functions (action RPG, turn based, etc). As for the costumes, use sackbots (in tools) with/without custom characters (makes spawning easy). This makes it so the costume and logic are all easily available.

I honestly don't know anything about creating a level outside the 'popit academy' and i forgot most of that stuff, this was really just an idea but if you could help in any way, if that is possible... can multiple people work on in the level creator via the internet?

They can indeed. Unfortunately I'm not really up to it any time soon. I can only help over the forum.

I recommend this series of videos to explain some more complicated features of LBP (they're from LBP2, but these are the tools that you should look at first)

I'll definitely look at that, thanks. If you know anyone that could be of some help send 'em my way.

I recommend watching tutorials by Danx87. Very helpful!

I am defiantly among those who have done the most with RPGs LBP and no level to show for it. (But that might change soon...:)) lol

Full Blown RPGs are possible. LARGE RPGs. Trust me. Save system, stats(Im not talking counters), probably most things you would want besides a way for multiple players to all have their own unique memorizes(saved data) in the same level. It depends on how deep you want to get with this.

Go as deep as you want, but if you want a really good piece of advice: Get something published as soon a possible. It gets all those publishing jitters out of the way. Dont start with 28 classes. Start with one or two and get the basic gameplay established. Publish get feedback then build something bigger.

I only say that because for years I see new RPG creators try to start these large projects, only to give up months afterwards. Your first level shouldn't take a month lol imo. Learn a bit and then publish something smaller scale.

An "existing level" always trumps an awesome level no one will ever play :)
