Again I released a small techdemo showing, how you could realize rain and thunder in a level using some methods, that do have almost no impact on th thermo.
Would be nice to get some feedback.

My level with rain is up now.
I had to tone back teh rain a bit, as I am getting a message saying a section of my level is too complicated, so I got rid of some emitters.
I may add some more. But I am pretty happy :)

This is an awesome job of rain! It looks like an absolutely great way to make rain over a large area.
I am really impressed!
The only downside with it is that it doesn't interact with your sack. In my level if you get hit by a raindrop, your sack reacts to it. But I couldn't do a large area.

That's some sweet rain. And the thunder and lightening are nicely synced... Although you could even think about have the lightening come first... then a flash of thunder.
Vanemiera's videos are seriously slick, I'll have to ask him to do one of mine sometime ^^

Mh the idea of de-synchronizing lightning and thunder is not too shabby. But it might sound a bit weird. If the thunder is right above you, there would be no difference anyway. But I look into it.

I've experimented with blue paint drops emitted from spinning wheels. If you place 3 or 4 emitters on a wheel you can emulate rain across all 3 depths independantly. And it interacts with your sackboy and any switches.
I'm using it in the level I'm currently working on.
Only downsides are that it can be very thermo heavy and also may cause some slowdown if lots of paint is used.
Your ideas, FJONAN are so simple yet so effective!
Using a huge light for the lightenening effect is one of the best ideas i've seen for a while.
I'm using it!

I love this. I'm always hugely interested in really efficient uses of thermo for cool special effects.
It's got me curious about how to implement something similar, but in the foreground. You could use glass, but that would introduce a good deal of distortion. I'm thinking I might play around with this a bit, it's a cool effect. You get thanks from me!

Hey, no problem. I am always happy if someone finds it useful. You could play around with the piston speed, the color of th glass or the stickers used on the glass. In my first iteration of this system I used a lot tinier dots on the glass. It looked better but for some reason if you copy the glass a fourth and fifth time the thermo goes up very quickly, for the first few nothing really moves, but after that it went up like hell. I am pretty sure this has to do with the amount of stickers on the glass so ... just so you know. But the "big" drops look pretty well, too. I just wish I had some not so blue dots of the same kind.
Mh ... thinking of it ... maybe you can save extra stickers by making your own sticker of a lot of drops and use THAT one so you only need like 2 - 5 stickers for each glass section.

Nice, I have looked for some rain, and this is it. I have made a type of rain before, wich basically consisted of lots of thin & long glass bites falling down, but the lagging destroyed it.
This looks promising!

But wouldn't a led light with a giant lighting zone work better instead of one spotlight?
