LBP robot wars!

It's like this: A tournament of bots with pre-determined parts battle it out in a sumo arena.

The entry's would be in secret, possibly PMed through PSN.

The bots can use Ice or flammable material.

Bots can use Magnet keys and motors of any kind that do not involve using The player.

Bots can use Bombs of any kind and other objects as decoration.

The bots are set up as a map, EX: Heat 1: 2 rounds of 4 bots would be set up above a passage way. the bots would be activated when the viewer triggers a sensor to start. then they go to the next arena, Etc..

Is this a good idea if done right?

I'm not very mechanical but it could be fun for people who are inclined to that sort of building. Good suggestion.

Would work better after the Cornish Yarg update. 2 teams, one on each side, build their own robots, and when both are ready, unleash them! :)

It would be cool, but 4 at once? Surely it should be 2. And the magnetic switches would have to be allocated: Team A Colours 1&2, B 3&4 etc., so they don't interfere. Other than that, awesome idea.

I mean:

Bot 1 VS Bot 2
....................Bot 2 VS Bot 4
Bot 3 VS Bot 4

Like that.

I'm very interested in this.

I'd like to see what kind of arena it is / how I find the enemy bots.

I could see mass impact explosive emitter spammz here, be sure to make emitters forbidden if you make this, and if you do, I'm willing to help, and what about a size of 2x3 large grid blocks as robot sizes? You can make anything smaller than that, ofcourse? And pistons should be able to extend outside the box(small box... 1 sec later expands into huge monster)... And there should be rules about using rockets, as flying things would pwn everything (assuming you don't know what your enemy is going to make when you build your robot). And another idea (wow, lots of inspiration) is giving every bot a magnetic switch, so that ppl can make their bots "smart". Besides, are dark matter "mechanic" stuff outside the box allowed?

Emitters could possibly be allowed if they had a limit of zero speed / rotation on emitted objects. Forcing your bot to mechanically fire it instead of just emit-spam it.

Emitters would have to be limited on what they could emit or number of emissions as well, I would think.

you could just make bombs spawn, then a moving platform push them away... I vote for no emitters, you'll have to store all your ammunition inside the robot this way... I seriously want this contest! Anyone who wants to help organize this contest send me a pm with your PSN, then we can make a chat and create the contest, and after that we can put it in the community contests subforum. :)

Already there.
Emmiters can only emit bombs, but the have to be at defaults.

Thread locked. The newer thread can be found here (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11823).

My vote would be with no emitters. I think it would be more fun if players had to store their ammunition.
