I've just posted a tech demonstration of a Gramophone object I cooked up. The level is called "FFV - Battle with Gilgamesh" and showcases how it can be used to make a song play continuously.

You can obtain the Gramophone objects, emitter array and a blank Gramophone in the level (this is optional).

This is seriously awesome. You've made an entire music level into a compact, portable package.

Did I say this was awesome?

Thanks. I mostly wanted to make a musical device which is :
-portable
-looping
-thermometer friendly

I initially didn't want to go with an Emitter array and simply wanted to put multiple records which would play in series, but this turned out to be inefficient with the 10 records I ended up with.

Having multiple emitters works pretty well in the end. The frequency is set to the entire length of the track (57s) and the Sync is gradually increased by the length of a single record (about 6s) starting from the last part and going all the way to the first part. The lifetime is set to 5.9s because at 6.0s the first note seems to play again sometimes.

Eventually, the design could be made more compact and hooked up with a creature brain so that the song follows the player along for the whole level behind some kind of backdrop. I've also been experimenting with making it support multiple instruments, as a single record can only handle one at a time per note.

I just checked it out. It's brilliant! A catchy tune too. *tuu tu tuu tu tuu tu ptu tuu tu tuu tu tuu* Did you make that yourself?

The song partition I found online, most probably comes from Japan as they have gotten more than a few Final Fantasy sheet music books.

I haven't read partitions or worked with actual musical notes in the longest time, so my gf helped me out to set up the piano sounds and to place them correctly on the records.

As for the Gramophone itself, it's 100% original. I had been working out the concept in my head for a while but never got the courage to make a music level, but now I can finally join the club. :hero:

Hey Gilgamesh,

Snowflakecat showed me this the other day. Really beautiful design!
I'm slightly confused as to how it works so well yet the design is so simple.

It also looks really slick as a portable music player, and the music is nicely put together.

You should have a shot at my new music level. Its called "Making music in the midnight kitchen"

I also have the music spawning one after another, but my setup is so the player can trigger the different loops and string them together in whatever order he wants.
The design is a bit more complicated and isn't 100% perfect but I'm happy enough with it.
