I managed to pretty much complete the first level, but Whaaaaaale said that it wasn't enough, and yeah it didn't have any platforming at all, so now I'm adding part of level 2 into level 1, which is hard because now I need to make enemies and stuff and I just tried that and I failed >_<. Kinda, I managed to make something but it fell apart :/.

Well, it's supposed to symbolize a clock. That stain of blood is a watch hand. The clock is the countdown to nuclear armmagedon, as throughout the novel cold war tensions between the US and Russia get so close to a nuclear war. So, that blood is just a countdown to the end of the world... hence the smile.
