  1. I like to think of my video sound effects as a nerdy version of beatboxing.

It really is a shame that you cannot use your own music when creating levels, but at the same time it is understandable... I would hate to have to play through a level containing hardcore gangster rap (not this hip-hop stuff on the radio). My song used the last 50 seconds of Johann Sebastian Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 : Prelude. I thought it fit really well with my teaser trailer; it gave it a sort of epic feel I think.
  2. It sounded pretty darn good actually but I have also done that in the past for my own dark purposes so I recognised it in an instant.
I loved the music you used as well, what is that song called? It really elevated your level to a higher place and it reminded me what a shame it is you can't use custom music in LBP.
  3. Hey, I thought I would refrain from posting this on my level thread that way people don't charge me with artificially bumping it up!
Clever ears you must have Mister! I blew out my lungs onto a piece of paper a seashell hoping to give a windy effect. I tried ripping audio from movie previews but it always sounded like garbage (not that me blowing into a funneled piece of paper and a conch sounded much better, but at least it fit the dissolves of my titles perfectly!).
  4. Hello Zwollie,

I did it! I published my very first level! The link to the thread is below! Enjoy!

The Adventures of the Prince: Chapter 1 The Attack
  5. Aaaah, but it was a glorious wall of text and I'm pinning it to my wall as we speak haha.
  6. Well that was quite the tale! I will gladly inform you when my level is up and running.

On a second note, I am sorry to hear that the economy got you down too, but at least you had a job ready to go when your former company went under; you are luckier than many!
We have felt the sting of a poor economy over here as well; the company I am working at laid off over 27 people this year (a substantial amount considering we only numbered 50) but work seems constant now, just not as busy as it was a year ago.
I too had allusion of grandeur and wonder when it came to thoughts of me and the art world, but as I started learning more about it and talking to my professors about it, the more it seemed like a silly pipe dream. Art educations are expensive (I was paying more for school than my sister was for engineering) and there is little to no job guarantee when you get out of it. I was looking at a mountain of debt with no real exit-strategy. That scared the crap out of me as it was, but then this recession hit us and my mind became made up; if people with business degrees and years of experience can't keep a job, how the heck am I to as an artist?
Anyways, I still try to keep art alive in my heart, but I make sure I can survive first, hence my current job as purchaser for an oilfield company.
And that too ends my wall of text for today.
  7. I will check it out when the time comes. Just let me know when you published your thread.

Funny thing, I used to be an aspiring artist and still do it as a hobby with a lot of secret dreams and wishes for the future but guess what I do for a living at the moment...I'm a salesperson at a Sign business!!

I started out as a Graphic designer & a little bit of production on the side at my first job for about a year.
I hated the people above me on that one and decided I had to get out of there.

My next job wasn't looking for a Graphic designer at the moment but since I needed the money I took it anyway and started out in production.
I became head of production over there and eventually moved on to the sales departement until my company went down with the economical crisis.

Since I knew some people who knew some people, I fortunately avoided the economical crisis all together and got a new job within a week.

I am now head of sales at some other company, it's a boring job but since I am living on my own now and since I am playing it safe for a while, it will do for the moment.

I'm still moving forward with my own work though as I really want to share some of my creativity with the rest of the world before I grow old and realise I missed my chance.

And that was my wall of text for today.
  8. I agree with you on that point. Even though I have only done one year of Art School (I am switching to business as the prospect of being a starving artist stopped appealing to me) it has changed my opinion about a lot of things, and opened my eyes to even more.

I have not published anything yet but I am very near publishing my first level. I am planning on publishing it tonight but I want to play it through a couple of times and make sure I have caught every bug known to man before doing so. I have already taken some pictures (you can sneak-peak those in my albums section of my profile) and made a video to help "sell" my level to the fine folks of LBP and LBPCentral.
I am quite excited to see what the reception is like on my level. It has taken me a very long time and a lot of experimenting, but I think I did a really good job. And I am not just trying to toot my own horn either. But I guess I will let the community be a judge of whether or not my level is heart-worthy or not.
  9. Oh ok, I went to Artschool as well and spending most of your youth with the alternative folks really shape you as a person!

I'm actually looking forward to your levels, have you published anything so far?
  10. Oui Oui! I am from Canada. And for future reference we really do not say "eh" as often as everyone may think. Having said that, we do live in igloo's, we do put maple syrup on everything, and our favorite mode of transport is polar bear. Ha!
Well now that my sarcastic remark is out of the way I suppose I best answer your question. I do not have a deviant art account and I doubt I ever will. I quite enjoy painting and drawing (I even went to University for art) but I don't do it often, which is fine by me.
