Go to User CP,

on the left click on Edit Avatar,

towards the bottom there is something that asks you to put in a URL,

delete the www or whatever is already in there,

and paste this: http://www.avatarist.com/avatars/Music/Iron-Maiden.jpg

then save, or finish, or whatever it says

lol, you posted on your own profile. XD What people usually do is click on the name of the person that left them a comment, which will take them to that person's profile, and then they comment there. lol
