  1. Awww, thank you Burn! The spotlight can only shine as bright as the star, but thank you for your kind words.
  2. Great job with the spotlight! I loved the video that you put together, thanks for making the community spotlight shine even brighter
  3. I don't think you are giving yourself enough credit actually. I think reading and learning is only 50% of the battle, the true challenge is to digest and articulate what we have read and learned in a way that is our own, and I think you did just that!
  4. It does make sense...i like your definition I can't take all the credit for my views though, i did study TKAM in my 9th grade literature class ;p
  5. Well, I'm going to have to give you an A+ for that one. Even though it is not precisely what I had in mind, it is an excellent take on it.

For me, the simplest way to put it is that Boo symbolizes the role virtual strangers can play in restoring one's faith in the basic goodness of humankind and the hope that we are more alike than we are different. Hope that makes sense.
  6. Well, Boo is the proverbial mockingbird- he may have been wild in his youth, but in his adulthood has learned the error of his ways, and does no harm to nobody And then theres the fact that all sorts of horrible stories are made up about him, which are rather mean (or sinful ;p), seeing as Boo isn't the sort to poison trees and eat cats, rather he'd put gifts in the trees for the children, etc. etc.

As to "Scout's Boo", thats why i was curious. Because as scout grows, so does her visions of "Mr. Arthur". In the beginning she believes him as wild a creature as he'd been rumored, but by the end, she realizes that he is human like the rest of us, and envisions one day passing him by as he sits on the porch, as part of everyday life. And then when he finally is forced to make an appearance, he's even different than she imagined, pale and whispy, and afraid of the outside world. So Scout's Boo means quite a few different things to me... did i hit any nails on the head?

So, Scout's Boo could refer to both
  7. No, you're not bothering me at all! I am going to have a think about how to best convey my thoughts in a succinct fashion without writing a whole essay about it on your VM, which is not easy to do for me!

Having freshly read it, what are your thoughts on what Boo symbolizes and what my username may mean? Keeping in mind, however, that had the choice been available, it would have been Scout's Boo?
  8. Alright, having freshly read Harper Lee's masterpiece, i'm back to bother you yet again ;p Why ScoutsBoo? Is this just a juxtoposition of two of the most important characters, or is there something deeper? Or does this refer to Scout's imagined version of Boo? Or....?

hope i'm not bothering you too much, tis a shame to kill (or annoy) a mockingbird.
  9. Glad we cleared that up, so now, you won't be bothered when you see my name! At least not because of the name....
  10. bothering me as in every time i see your name, i wonder if its from that book
