oh, we call those Water tanks over here, most people have then and then use greywater and stuff like that to wash their clothes etc.
A water butt is a think connected to your drainpipe that collects rainwater. That thing about the Desalination plants Is terrible!!

Everywhere except Queensland and I think the northern part of New South Whales are out of drought cause they are getting flooded, but where I am, we are still in a pretty bad drought. They are building desalination plants which suck up sea water, drain out all salt and turn the un-salted water into drinking water and then putting all the leftover salt back into the ocean, which is terrible! It's something like a couple hundred tones for day or week I can't really remember but it will completely kill all the marine life living there after a few years
There's been a drought so lack of water so they're cleaning the hosewater and putting it into the drinking water, I'm trying to save water (you know; Turning off the tap when brushing, turning the shower off to put the shower gel and stuff on etc) but i've heard Oz gets it's fair share of drought I've wanted a water butt for ages but it was considered 'useless'
