  1. Happy birthday Plasma! ^^
  2. Hey Plasma! I know we planned on creating a brand new RPG, but some members spoke with me to reboot TCW, there was lots of excitement and rushing to get things going, and well, sign-ups are up for the time being. I know TCW5 ended abruptly and wasn't finished, but I'm hoping this will get lots of players and make it to the very end, just like with TCW: Blackout. However, it's a full reboot, so all the confusing characters/story arcs/illuminati terrorist groups are wiped clean, so none of that confusion for now. Right now we've got Kato, flamingemu, amoney, gdn, butter-kicker and myself on board, and we'd love for you to join in on the shenanigans. (if you want.)

  3. Sounds awesome! Keep me posted!
  4. Thanks, and I'd be most welcome in helping plan this out however I can. This weekend, I'll finally do what I've been putting off for ages, and get the ol tablet set up. With School ending tomorrow, I can add this to the list of many things I hope to get accomplished over the summer. As far as organization goes by the way, I definitely think we should have a sign-ups thread when the time comes, so we know who's joining and who's not. Maybe we can even create a high-profile group to discuss things, and see if flame wants to get in on the fun.

    Oh, hi flame. ^^
  5. That sounds like a great idea! And creating the world itself in the planning stages could be really fun as well
  6. Ooh, I really dig the map idea. It might be limiting, but giving a general layout of a city/region/country/etc. could definitely give a good idea of the world around you, while at the same time letting players work in their own details. Even while I think players shouldn't be too scattered, I think having an entire fictional world to explore could be great. If we create an FRPG and it's a success like TCW, there's always the possibilities of others helping carry the stories over with sequels which in turn, could expand the world's lore and landscapes.
  7. Yeah I meant TCW in terms of how it's played etc. Yeah I see what you mean about the Outer Space idea.. Hmm.

I guess if we set it in another 'world' or whatever, we could always provide a map of the world in the OP, with descriptions of each town/area to stop the list of locations from getting too confusing, but on the other hand that could limit freedom so it's a tricky balance.
  8. The alt. universe concept is an interesting one, but if it's not truly TCW, then I don't think consoles or Sony/Ninten./MS should be involved. (Unless you meant it could be like TCW in how it's played/progresses.) A new IP has the risk of not garnering as much attention as a returning game like TCW, but it could also be just what people are looking for. The mods are nice and can sometimes help advertise your thread for the rest of the forum to see, plus people are always stopping by General Gaming it seems. (I know I do.) A story set in a steampunk world sounds great, as well as the other ones. I considered some kind of Outer space RPG, although it might be challenging to create an FRPG in space where many character's stories are connected (I still think TCW's rule of interacting with other member's characters could carry over) and not trying to hop between too many planets or too many places, as it might not seem woven together as well with characters flying around space.
  9. Well, I've only participated in Blackout and TCW5, but I guess it's a big distinction in a sense. While Blackout touched upon elements from previous wars, it was meant to take place decades after TCW4, with the few characters that did return (Merc, Zim, and at the very end, gdn) having had age catch up with them, and a huge cast of new characters taking center stage. Since TCW5 was meant to wrap up the series, Blackout's main goal was to set everything up for a large scale war between the factions, whereas the wars would be set up in the beginning pages. (instead of an entire, separate war thread) Because TCW5 was a direct continuation from Blackout and many characters returned, (alongside their story arcs) I can see how it would've been loads more intimidating.
  10. Maybe a version of the Console Wars in a kind of alternate universe setting. It could be steampunk, fantasy, mythology-esque or maybe even a mix of multiple genres would be cool. But I'm not sure, with me personally I felt slightly intimidated coming into TCW5 having never done any of the previous ones where I had no idea of what had happened in the previous versions and everyone else was a veteran etc. who knew what they were doing.
Maybe a totally fresh 'IP' would be more newcomer-friendly and actually attract more people in the end? There's a thin line between keeping it interesting for the veterans and easy/simple enough for the beginners to get into.
