  1. Hey Alis. Seeing how iLEGEND hasn't been on LBPC for a little while, I was wondering if you could ask him, for me, if I could try reviving his Sackboy's Sticky Situation Contest? It was a great contest and it's a shame it didn't get more attention, so if you could ask him for me, that would be great.
  2. Yup I used Maya to create the rig and to skin it. I also used maya to create all the materials and to animate the short c:
  3. Okay so wait, you used Maya to create that wonderful short 3d animation.. did you use the same software or something else to create that some sort of muscle system for the character?
  4. Oh okay, and that's fine. I'll try getting the free version and maybe start with those linked tutorials when I have the time. Thanks ^^
  5. Yes use Unity to learn JavaScript then when you become proficient, move on to C#

I haven't used anything except unity for javaScript so I don't know any other programs sorry!
  6. Oh, okay. I think I understand now. So, Unity is a game engine using C++ and Javascript coding. But Javascript is different from Java and Web Javascript. So it might be good to learn Javascript first. Now I know C++ might not be the best for beginners, right off the bat, although I can't be sure, so maybe should lern the Hybrid as I would've already learned Javascript, then move onto C++.....I think. Thanks for talking with me about this, it has been very helpful.

Would you happen to know any other engines using Javascript mainly for coding, just to work with while learning? Oh, and sorry for late reply, went out walking for a little bit, and correct me if I'm wrong with any of this.
  7. Well web javascript is used for to build webpages. If you look at the LBPC source code you will see it has javascript code everywhere. Although I have never taught myself webjavascript, I can understand and recognise many elements of it since I know unity javascript. So they are very similar! It won't be hard to learn web javascript after learning unity javascript.

Unity is a game engine created with C++ coding. It saves us the grief of having to learn how to code a game entirely from code. It's sort of like container. It stores and organises our assets so we can worry about just how the gameworks, rather than how to set up and organise everything. You can create MMORPGs and online games using Unity. You would have trouble creating a good one solely using web javascript. Web javascript is made for websites.

All the links are for Unity
  8. Oh, I did not know that. Thanks for telling me, and those links seem pretty helpful. so wait, Unity uses javascript, and you said there's at least a small difference between javascript and web javascript. What do you mean by web javascript? Does that apply to online games such as Co-operative games, MMORPGS, etc? And is tehe first link for javascript or web javascript.
  9. Ohh! Java and JavaScript are two very different languages!

    Use Unity to learn it
It's good to have something to experiment on
    Here are some useful links:

Now remember that the javascript that unity uses is for unity. Web javascript will be similar (So you can transfer easy if ever you want to write and web javascript stuff) but not the same. Anyways have a go and tell me how you find it!
  10. Not yet, although shouldn't I learn java at least before I try it out some? Good tutorials are nice though.
