"Every English poet should master the rules of grammar before he attempts to bend or break them." - Robert Graves
It's July 12th and I feel like blogging! Today's topic is going to be on the concept of grammar. Grammar is an interesting concept. In today's culture (mostly the younger generation), forms and such are engrossed with abbreviations, misspelled words, and, of course, smilies! This new "language" is highly acceptable in pop culture...
But is it wrong? Well, both yes and no. I mean, it's never wrong to talk or type the "LOL Language" around your friends or if you want to get to a point quickly. It is wrong if your writing or saying something that involves formality. Writing "wit", "lol", and/or even "b/c" on a job application would pretty much not guarantee you the position. It's also not good to write in this way for school or other writing assignments. (It's always funny to see the teachers yell at a person who does, however :]).
Using this language is uncalled for when creating a level. It looks so unprofessional reading a text box with this sort of "trash" in it, UNLESS there is a supported reason for it, such as the level being themed on cell phones or something. And as you can see, I try to use correct grammar whenever I can, except when I want to be silly :P
So, all in all, use correct grammar in your levels! And on all of your formal works!
