Ok, here's the interesting coinsidence between both things. We know how bad Update 1.12 was. Boos are gone, ability to disable comments gave trolls more power, dive in includes auto-reject, and a whole bunch of glitches (especially the profile change failure one) have ruined the game. The coinsidence was that Update 1.12 and 2012 both end with a 12. Update 1.12 and 2012. There are some equivilences with it. The ones I found don't logically follow, but they do seem to be like it.

Boos be gone - Mayan prophecy:
The Mayan calendar ends on December 21st, 2012. However, that was for the Mayan empire. People have believed that the world ends in 2012, but others don't. 2012 may not be the end of the world, but it's sure the end of the boo option on LBP2. There were a lot of complaints in response.

Ability to disable comments/reviews in profile/levels - 2012 election:
We finally got a nice option to prevent inappropriate feedback or hate comments. While some people liked the idea of disabling comments to prevent harassment and the other bad stuff (bad words, racist comments, threats etc.), others do not. I compare this to the 2012 election because when the results come in, some would be happy and others will be shocked. Individual user rules (rules set up by each creator) could change if he/she enables/disables comments/reviews in levels/profile. The policies can change with a different president.

Dive In performance - London 2012 olympics:
Again, there's no equilivence, but I'm comparing them because I don't care about them. The London 2012 is the third most major event in 2012 while Dive in was the third most focused feature of the update.

Glitches found - other things the news are recording:
While we expected the day of the Mayan prophecy, London 2012 olympics, and the 2012 election (which two of the three will happen), other interesting stories were put into the news. The solar flares, the whole Treyvon Martin thing, the lottery, and the Obamacare arguments. We did not expect all that to happen in 2012 (except for the last one). And Mm didn't expect glitches when they updated the game. The glitches they didn't predict were the failure to save profile changes on some people, the broken scores in the Story Versus games, the glitch were you can see your level titles on others' moons, and a lot more I can think of.

And for a closing sentence, Update 1.12 was another event in the year 2012.
