The Grim Days of Little Big Planet - Part Two

Rate this Entry
Last time on The Grim Days of Little Big Planet, I mentioned how bad the cool pages were and how copying became a problem. We knew what the cool pages are judged by and what the copy option was intended for. But the kids are copying and re-publishing levels. I find the roller coasters and Tron racing levels okay, but levels like Mortal Kombat (most controversial one), bomb survivals, and shark survivals are a problem. We get too many of them. Copying is not only creating spam, but it's stealing credit from the original creator. Latin_Player_10 even got a lot of hearts, and he hit the cool pages. Stealing the credit is bad, but the controversy is the spam. Latin_Player_10 and his alternative accounts always hit the cool pages, and so do the levels like that made by others. And Mm allowed them to transfer to LBP2. That's enough talk about last entry, so it's time for Part 2: All Mess Breaks Loose!

This is all about Update 1.12 and what it has done. The copy problem was supposed to be taken care of, but instead, Mm chose to do the opposite: take out the boo rating. The good thing about that is the losing ground for trolls. Some guy booed all of my levels because I booed one of his levels. I guess removing the boo rating defeated him, so he can't be mean anymore. However, if that's the one thing he likes to do, he would quit LBP2. Another example of this: I knew one guy who was friends with a girl. The girl deleted him as a friend because he refuses to gameshare with her. Since she betrayed him, he booed all of her levels to ruin her reputation. After Update 1.12, atrocities like that will never happen.

However, the boo removal made things worse. Mm would of taken care of the copy problem to prevent spam, but instead, they were focusing on the boo rating removal. Now we can't tell if we hate a level. That's okay with me, because I don't play stupid levels anymore. I play smart ones. What else made the boo removal a problem is that the cool pages got even worse. It was originally bad with some good levels, but now, it's worse. It''s only full of spam and "unnamed levels". Trust me, this is the cool pages after the update. The real deplorable part about this were the glitches that were created in response to the update. One glitch ruined Hedge Hopping. It's now hard to collect 10,000 points with the platforms bouncing and behaving incorrectly. It's worse than the broken creatinator from Bang for Buck. Then, when you are playing with other people online, you are stuck in the pause menu when the leader finishes the level. There's no way you can unpause unless if you can take a picture. That glitch is fixed, but there was another nasty glitch. You can now see your levels on others' moons and you can see the level information while the leader is browsing the levels. And the worst part about that update: it corrupted a few profiles. With this glitch, people fail to save changes to their profiles. And what if they didn't back up their profiles? Then they're going to start over the whole game again, which they can't recover what they lost because Hedge Hopping was damaged. It's like somebody trying to disable saving changes to profiles just to worsen the cool pages. But no, they aren't trying to disable saving changes to profiles or worsen the cool pages. Media Molecule would never do such a thing like that, but those were the consequences of Update 1.12. In fact, Mm would try to patch all those horrible glitches Update 1.12 created. They didn't even remove the boo option just to make the cool pages bad. They did this because trolls abused the boo option. So who's the group we shall blame? The trolls.

Update 1.12 was the worst update ever, and removing the boo option was the biggest mistake. On the next update, they didn't patch any of the glitches, but it created a new glitch: review are cut in half. By Update 1.14, they finally patched the lethal sackboy glitch. There's no grandfather clause to this glitch too. And the glitch where you are stuck in the pause screen was also patched. That helped us recover from the update, but we can still see our levels on others' moons while Hedge Hopping wasn't fixed.

Removal of the boo rating lead us to this: Cool pages are full of spam and copied levels. We came up with our solutions to taking care of the cool pages, such as disabling publishing levels if copied, marking levels as copied, or even forbidding publishing Mortal Kombat levels, bomb survivals, and shark survivals. Mm is already taking care of this. But once that's taken care of, only one group of people who are going to be severely affected: kids. They enjoy copied levels and copying levels. They want to be on the cool pages. But I don't care if it's bad for the kids. I would only like it if the people on LBP Central are happy about something.

Now I'm not trying to insult Mm, but I am trying to record the opinions on LBP Central into these entries.

Coming up next... Mm Picks

The Cool levels were full of copied levels before the Boo was a distant memory. All MM need to do is put in the 5 star rating after you finish playing the level just choose the rating you think. ITS simple and it works in LBP1. The Boo was just a haters tool & thankfully gone forever. You speak lots of sense Happy Gaming to you

It's true that the star rating worked out well back in lbp1.
