I do feel strongly that some sort of revamp is needed to the blog system. It's a great idea, but it just doesn't have enough accessibility at the moment. I'll think on it. *Dons thinking cap* Hmmmmmm........

Seems unnecessary. If someone has an interesting thought that they want to share with everyone, they'd make a thread in the appropriate forum instead of blogging about it. Blogs are meant to be a bit more "out of the way" than the regular forum, so people have a separate place to jot down their thoughts and, well, blog.
