It is an Adobe product and can find it on their website. It used to be Macromedia, but Adobe bought them out a few years ago. Macromedia made Dreamweaver and Flash which are two other programs I use quite a bit. I guess they didn't like the competition!!! LOL!

You can use photoshop or any image manipulating software.
A good option if you don't already own one is GIMP.
Easy to use and most importantly free.

Mostly Fireworks. On some rounds I've done a few steps for a round using photoshop like for the extraction tool etc, but I use Fireworks for most everything. I am just more used to it for web graphics and like the way it works for vector graphics. I also have quite a few alien skin plugin's connected to it, so it is pretty powerful.
