Thanks for all the tips guys. Wow, I have a lot of things to fix.
Okay, finally got round to playing this level the other day (it's getting reviewed by the review team aswell, not sure who's doing it though). Anyway, it's a very good level with a few minor problems.
Pros:
+Very nice to look at
+The living room
+Most of the chorse are simple, yet fun
+Different activities to do so the gameplay kept on changing
+Just how the level was in general
+The freezer in the shop
Cons:
-The stairs, easy to climb but you had to jump down a tiny gap to get back down :( I suggest playing "Escape in New York" by Sosuku as it gives away a very good set of stairs (if you can find them ;) )
-When the shopping cart dissolves at the end, the wheels got left behind and made it hard to push up my shopping :(
Overall a pretty fun level - 4 stars from me
Awesome I'm getting a review from two members of the review league! (Yours and whoever else is reviewing it (You're still a part of the review league right?))
Thanks a lot for the review!
About the stairs, I think there's like 3 ways to go back down. I'll check Escape in New York to see how the stairs are the you talked about.
About the shopping cart, I'm thinking about putting a brain on it instead of dissolving it. Hopefully that will work!
This level was pretty clever brnxblze! All the cleaning puzzles were very creative and I especially liked cleaning the kitchen floor and taking out the trash. Grocery shopping was pretty cool too, but I got stuck there, which I'll talk about more in a minute. First here are some highlights:
+ Creative puzzles that fit the housework theme of the level
+ Detailed environments (faucets drip, lamps turn on, etc.)
+
A few issues:
- The camera at the beginning is a bit jittery, but this was pretty minor.
- I had some difficulty in the kitchen. When you grab the door, the cutscene points toward the trash, but also the light switch. I thought I just needed to flip the switch, like I did in the living room. I completely overlooked the trash. I'd suggest focusing removing the switch from the view of the cutscene.
- The grocery store items were nicely detailed, but I felt the store itself could use a few more details to spruce it up. Maybe some ads for other products on the wall or something.
Also, I got stuck during the grocery store section. I wasn't able to figure out how to get the second two items, although I did get the items from the freezer. How do you get the two items in middle? Am I looking over something?
I plan to go back and give it another try, but I thought I'd go ahead and share my feedback now. Fun theme and a fun level. I like it!
Whoa, one of my Creating idols likes my level :D. Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely keep what you said in mind as those are some good ideas. I'll try to think of some funny ads to maybe take away the attention from how boring everyone thinks the supermarket is.
To answer your question of how to finish the level:
To get the cereal, you have to put the stairs with the wheels (forgot what they're called :|) as much to the right as you can, go up, & swing on the lights.
To get the ketchup, you jump off where the cereal is at onto the ketchup.
Make sure for both that you put the cart where you can drop the items in.
Made some changes:
Made the ice triangle that's in the freezer go up and down when the cart is not in place just in case you forget some food.
Changed the stairs in the supermarket to something better. You only have to use it for the second item. For the first item I made it so you have to move some boxes and climb on top of a soda machine.
Here are some pics:
Picture of the first item, you have to move the boxes so you can get on the soda machine. This is my attempt at making the supermarket part less repetitive.

Left switch opens the stairs, right switch moves them.
Woohoo! 500 Hearts! This is my first level to get that much but I still think I need to fix some things so I will do some F4F. I need feedback so I can make it better.
Hi brnxblze!
I played this Level in the wee hours of the morning, and I have some feedback for you.
I really enjoyed this Level. You had some very good and detailed craftsmanship in the stage--it worked well with the overall theme. Even though you didn't provide a lot of direction with words, the cutscenes made it intuitive, at least for me. I know some of your reviews mentioned issues with the Super Market, but either you tweaked those issues or I just didn't have any problems--everything seemed to work as planned. Your ingenuity with the platforming was also well done. All in all, a great play.
I rated this Level a 4-Star, and Hearted you as a Creator. I'm also looking forward to playing some of your other Levels in the future.
As for possible improvements to your Level, it was a little tedious at times, but I'm not sure what you could do about that, without removing a grocery item or two. Although this would shorten the Level play, that might actually be a good thing for the kids that may lose interest otherwise. I was a bit confused by the emitted blocks in the market, as I did not understand the intent--they never fell on me or the cart, so I suspect this may have been a "potential" hazard, so it was really more a distraction.
I do recommend everyone play this Level.
And to all the Creators in LBP, we are a rare breed indeed.
I'm also looking forward to your feedback brnxblze. Even though Takken-The Beginning is my 1st Level, it's is "just the beginning" of my desire to create on a much higher level. You will see significant changes in my next Level, Takken-The Second Hour, as I've created everything from scratch (except for the materials used obviously).
Rick
Thanks a lot for your review RickRock_777! I'm very glad you enjoyed it. The emitted block thing was just in case something got stuck in front of your cart, I couldn't think of any way to do it without making it look weird :( . I'm going to try to see if I figure out something better. Also, I might take away one item since a lot of time is spent in the supermarket. Thanks again, I'm going to play your level when I get home in a couple hours.
I see. The blocks are to crush any items that would get in the way.
Here's an idea that you might consider using, if Thermo is not an issue, which I don't believe it will be.
1. Change the grocery items to dissolvable material, if they aren't already
2. Place a Mag Key (all the same color) on all of the grocery items
3. Place a Mag Key Switch (same color) on the front of the shopping cart
a.) set radius angle to encompass area in front of cart only (don't want to dissolve the items in the cart), as this is a new radius feature with Yarg.
b.) extend radius area out from the cart slightly longer than the length of the longest grocery item (will ensure Mag Key on grocery item is within the sensor range of the Mag Key Switch)
c.) attach the wire from the Mag Key Switch to all the grocery items.
4. Now, when an item falls in front of the cart, it will dissolve as soon as the cart touches it, and there is no longer a need for the falling blocks.
If you need any additional help on this, just let me know. It's one of the reasons I'm here.
Again, enjoyed your level thoroughly.
Rick
Thanks for the suggestion! That's actually what I was thinking of doing I just have to connect each and every box to an OR switch since something is connected to each of them. I plan on fixing that this weekend, the mouth telling everyone what that falling block does isn't popping up so it's just leaving people like whaaaa? (lol)
I found this level to be really enjoyable.. The Visuals are really nice and the little obstacles and minor puzzles are really fun.
The 3d look that you made in the neighborhood was a nice add. And i laughed while playing because i made lots of mess while trying to clean up and do house chores at the same time.
I would suggest adding more polish to the level though, because some areas seemed bland especially at the Food Mart.
All in all it was 4 stars and Fun plus a heart from me.
I would do anything to play LBP :)
Thanks a lot for the feedback, graygoose :) . I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I plan to go to a supermarket (I haven't been in one in forever :S ) to figure out a way to make the Food Mart look better as I'm drawing a blank. The only thing I could think of doing is adding advertisements like some others said but that wont change much in the way of aesthetics.
Perhaps you can add some sack people pushing a cart. (Use thin material so it would be out of the way)
Also add billboards like SALE! or Rollback Prices! (a la Walmart)
Here are some pics:

See those billboards? Use thin Material and hang em.

That I can do, thanks a lot for the suggestion!
i loved the 3D aspects of this place! it was the most ingenious (i KNOW i spelled that wrong >_<) level ive seen!
Hi brnxblze, just gave a quick roll to your level, and here are my thoughts on it (I have not read all the posts so I will apologize in advance if I repeat something you are already told, but I think that playing a F4F level before reading the other posts it is the right way to give a neutral feedback).
As I tried to load the level I thought to myself: ''Houseworks? I HATE houseworks pffffft...'' lol
As soon as I spawned in the level I was pretty amazed with the picture of the town and the two cars parked near the road, nice attempt to create a deeper background.
Talking of the background, I guess your thermo is heated enough but I noticed the sky lacks clouds (or it seemed to me).
Why don't you to add some stickered clouds? (or build some nicer by your own, or at least create a custom sky-and-clouds sticker).
It's a shame that a so nicely detailed level lacks details in some of its parts.
I laughed peeking through the window of my neighbours and then I headed in my house.
The only thing I couldn't figure out immediately was the chore concerning turning the shower off, but it costed me like 5 seconds to understand.
I loved the drawers with the hidden switch and found them very neat.
All in all the 'chores' are well thought out (i.e. when you have to bring trash outside). I would have chosen differently in terms of some stuff design you used like the hanging lamps (literally a lamp and a rope... them won't fit at all, but I guess they're in their forms due to the thermo, but try to do something about them...) or the sticks of the staiway, so it would be nicer not to see them; build some kind of banisters or add some other sticks in order to make them seem like modern banisters...
The remaining furnitures are very well disgned, sofas, abatjours, pictures, bookshelves and so on.
I found that the supermarket is a bit forsaken to itself (no signs or ads or discounts or nothing like a supermarket (I worked there for a bit and they are a little bit more messed up than your...)).
In its final step (the iced part) it earns a little bit but it's still not enough to live up with the home (and there are too many red arrows).
So if you have memory-space left you would have to decorate it a little more than it is by now.
The shelves are high and my suggestion is to lower them one or two squares and to copy and paste them in the line above to make it look nicer.
This would make the jumps a little easier, and since your level has no real dangers I think it would be a nice thing not to put the player in an awkward situation (like jumping from a glassy thing to another higher platform).
I liked the moving elevator but, are all those wheels really needed? and the motors aren't hidden. Regardless, it has the bip-bip sound and all the stuff, so it was fun to operate.
I really liked the house, but I liked less the market.
That's all (I guess).
Overall:
+ very detailed
+ a lot of things to do
+ the aim of the level it's something really different from every other level I played
+ it is relaxing to spend two minutes in it
- some of the decoration don't fit at all with all the other things (too big stairways, hanging lamps and things I mentioned above...)
- the market is oddly empty for the most part of it
- some of the jumps required are more difficult than the overall difficulty of the level
Very original and thought out, rated 5 stars and hearted.
I usually do not tag because I think that the tags system (like it is) does not work properly.
If you are willing to make changes in the level let me know and I will give it another 'free' roll for sure.
Looking forward to see also your next creations.
LOL That's usually the reaction when I tell people about the level.
Thanks a lot, that background took me a while to make. When I first had the level up I had no background there and it was just plain. I had it like that until someone reviewed my level and told me how bad that looked and I'm so glad they did.
There actually are some cloud stickers but they are too high up to see them. I'm thinking of putting my own clouds and making them go back and forth.
I actually didn't want to put those lamps there, I wanted to make it that you have to jump and grab like a rope or something so a ceiling fan can turn on (or off) but my brother said it wouldn't look good. I'm going to change that though.
I was thinking of taking that off but then the stairs would look like they're floating lol.
Yeah this is something I definitely need to fix.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Lol I have no idea why I put all those wheels, I will take some off. Also, I think the wheels would look kinda naked without the bolts.
Thanks a lot for playing it and for your feedback, I really appreciate it.
Just checked this one out. I really had fun playing through this. Normally I'm not crazy about levels like this where you collect stuff, as they tend to drag on. This one on the other hand is very well designed. Your attention to detail in the house made me think, man, he must have spent some time on all this stuff. Everything looks really good. The only trouble I had was the guy at the checkout in the market, his speech bubble appeared and was gone in the blink of an eye. Other than that everything worked great. Great work!!
Thanks a lot for playing and for giving your opinion, Smasher1973!
I didn't notice that happened last time I tested it but I changed something in the supermarket part really quick the other day and I don't think I tested it until the end. I'll check that out later. Thanks!
