My 80GB PS3 just broke today (I think). It turned itself off and flashed a blinking red light. I tried to turn it back on a couple minutes later and it froze at start up, and when I turned it back off a yellow light popped up followed by the same blinking red light. I'm sad. :(
The bad thing is that I got it last christmas (2007) so it's off its warranty. Anyone know what I should do?
The becoming increasingly frequent YLOD. I'm sorry but there's nothing you can do, you'll need to contact Sony and see how much a fix will cost.

I got my 80GB in September of 07 so I can hear the tic tock starting.... either that or SawronZXZ is hanging around here somewhere.
Actually I don't mind it that much. As long as they repair it for free (or for like 100 dollars or something) it'll be okay, but if they tell me to just buy a new one I'll be ******.
This also gives me more time to play my wii. :p and Pokemans.
I think that the YLOD means harddrive failure, and I wouldn't count on getting it fixed for free, it will probably cost 161$

This generation of consoles is completely ridiculous.
They've been trying to pack in too much tech this time. This did sacrifice manifacturing quality and we're all losing in the end. God ****ed extreme capitalism for the lose. But at the same, we asked for it (not me though). All crybabies wanting their sweet sweet graphics and never ending freeroaming super duper AAA games...

YES! LBP, here I come! Too bad I have to start everything over again/ reinstall EVERYTHING! Including Socom which has like, an hour long install anyway.
